Recently, the Internet of Things (IoT) has gained widespread popularity, yet its security remains a critical challenge due to the massive amount of information generated by connected devices. While encryption algorithms are commonly employed to protect this information, they are susceptible to various attacks. This paper introduces a novel encryption method to enhance data security in the Consumer IoT domain. The proposed approach combines DNA-inspired encryption with blockchain technology. The DNA encryption algorithm is utilized for the primary encryption phase, followed by the secure handling of encrypted data using blockchain. To evaluate the proposed scheme, a comparison is made with traditional techniques such as RSA, DNA, and a hybrid of both, considering encryption and decryption times. Simulations are conducted using MATLAB software, and an analytical study is performed to assess the performance of the suggested scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

The UAV-mounted base station has been integrated into 5G and beyond to provide communication in an emergency when conventional systems fail due to some reason. Moreover, it is also used in coverage enhancement and for other strategic purposes. In this work, we have considered a MIMO-OFDM based UAV system that is inclined to fast-fading channels due to the continuous motion of UAVs. Due to the mobility of UAVs, there is a frequency and timing offset which must be estimated for proper and seamless communication. For that purpose, we have proposed a data-aided maximum likelihood-based scheme that efficiently estimates the carrier frequency and timing offset. Results show that our algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art system in terms of MSE. © 2023 IEEE.

Cache management is an important component in any network and it has even more importance in the Future Internet architectures (FIAs) including Named Data Networking (NDN), because the caches play the key role in reducing the overall network latency and scalability. In this paper, we discuss the functionality of cache management in NDN, its types as well as its importance for the NDN architecture. In addition, we propose a machine learning-empowered cache management and interests predication for NDN to only preserve the cache only to the secure and really needed data. Our proposal uses Apriori algorithm which is supervised learning algorithm to find the association rules and then to recommend the next requested data. Implementation and experiments on real data traffic depicted that the network' performance and its influence on the cache increased by 3.2% for two content store sizes of 20 and 40 MB. In addition, a larger cache size of 80 MB shows an increase of the cache hit ratio reaching 90% and hence, clearly reducing the network latency. © 2023 IEEE.

With the increasing focus on healthcare, especially real-time analytics and self-diagnosis, the interest in capturing real-time patient data has increased significantly for both physicians and patients. The development of smart devices that can collect data such as blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar level, etc., has greatly contributed to improving individual health management capabilities. However, these advances also, bring challenges such as concerns over safety, reliability, and accurate diagnosis. Problems often arise, especially when exchanging information and transmitting data. To overcome these challenges, this project uses blockchain technology to improve data transmission and security. This study explores the use of blockchain-based internet solutions by integrating blockchain into smart health-care. Additionally, the digital twin concept is used to improve diagnosis by simulating the effects of drugs on virtual objects. Based on the results of these simulations, physicians can make informed decisions about appropriate medications and accurately assess a patient's condition. A health monitoring system using digital twin technology and blockchain can be implemented to securely organize the collection of user information and enable accurate diagnosis. This integration ensures secure storage and transmission of your data and improves your health outcomes. In this paper, we study the integrating blockchain technology with Digital Twin for patient health monitoring. We showcase an interface connected to the blockchain database, specifically designed for doctors to review patient health records through patient wallet address and determine the normalcy of the patient's heart rate based on their medical data. Additionally, the interface allows doctors to predict the effect of medication on the patient's heart rate and blood pressure. © 2023 IEEE.

Wearable and smartphone-based emotion recognition (WER) remains a challenging setting in affective computing, due to the notorious difficulty and bias associated with in-the-wild label collection. The high inter-and intra-subject emotional variability motivates us to explore WER modeling through graph node classification in a limited resources learning scheme powered by Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) graph masking augmentation tasks. We employ a subgraph sampling approach during training, utilizing labeled and unlabeled data, along with supervised, semi-supervised, and SSL mechanisms in a multi-task inductive graph neural network architecture. Our evaluations on K-EmoPhone through leave-one-group-out cross-validation in the binary arousal and valence tasks yield average accuracy gains of 4.3% and 7.8%, compared to the full resource setting, utilizing only 20% and 25% of the labels, respectively. Our model analysis sheds light on the relation of SSL graph augmentations to emotional arousal and valence and justifies the approach of SSL-driven subgraph training for in-the-wild WER. © 2025 IEEE.

Novel humidity-sensitive sensors were developed using insulating MgAl2O4 ceramics with a high level of reliability, alongside temperature-sensitive multilayered thick-film sensors based on semiconducting spinel-type (Ni, Mn, Cu, Mn)O4 ceramics. Extensive research was conducted to examine these sensors. The results indicate that the temperature-sensitive thick-film elements exhibit sensitivity within the temperature range of 298 to 358 K, while the humidity-sensitive sensors demonstrate sensitivity from 30% to 98% during absorption-desorption cycles. These fabricated sensors were implemented in a microprocessor information measuring system, primarily focusing on environmental monitoring and control. © 2023 IEEE.

Thermal properties of refractory nanocomposites with embedded single-walled carbon nanotubes were investigated using proposed automated approach. In this approach, differences in nanocomposites with varying parameters, observed under temperature differentials and thermal loads, are highlighted. These findings are crucial for their integration into sensor systems and for applications requiring enhanced fire resistance. The results indicate that nanocomposites with a nanotube dispersion time of 2 hours exhibit a peak temperature difference of 55 'C, while those with a 1-hour dispersion time show a maximum difference of 50 °C. A comparative analysis of heat transfer dynamics suggests that extending the dispersion time by 1 hour increases fire resistance by 15%. © 2024 IEEE.

The memory hierarchy has a high impact on the performance and power consumption in the system. Moreover, current embedded systems, included in mobile devices, are specifically designed to run multimedia applications, which are memory intensive. This increases the pressure on the memory subsystem and affects the performance and energy consumption. In this regard, the thermal problems, performance degradation and high energy consumption, can cause irreversible damage to the devices. We address the optimization of the whole memory subsystem with three approaches integrated as a single methodology. Firstly, the thermal impact of register file is analyzed and optimized. Secondly, the cache memory is addressed by optimizing cache configuration according to running applications and improving both performance and power consumption. Finally, we simplify the design and evaluation process of general-purpose and customized dynamic memory manager, in the main memory. To this aim, we apply different evolutionary algorithms in combination with memory simulators and profiling tools. This way, we are able to evaluate the quality of each candidate solution and take advantage of the exploration of solutions given by the optimization *** also provide an experimental experience where our proposal is assessed using well-known benchmark applications. © 2023, CC BY-SA.

Structural properties and physical and chemical water-sorption processes were investigated in the humidity-sensitive MgAl2O4 ceramics sintered at 1300 °C for 2 h under the influence of water. It is shown that ceramics has developed the structure of grains, grain boundaries and pores with trimodal pore size distribution. It is established that absorbed water in ceramics result in more intensive trapping of positrons in extended defects near grain boundaries. Furthermore, the presence of water in the inner structure of ceramics leads to specific fragmentation of free volume in the nanopores and ortho-positronium decaying in the water. © 2022 IEEE.

Humidity-sensitive nanoporous MgAl2O4 ceramics prepared at 1200, 1300, 1400 and 1400 °C for sensor electronics were investigated using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy tools. The annihilation spectra obtained by decomposition into four components were analyzed. The third and fourth components reflect the ortho-positronium decay in nanopores. It is shown that at lower sintering temperature ceramics contain more nanopores. The processes of 'Pick-off' annihilation of ortho-positronium in MgAl2O4 ceramics were simulated and the sizes of nanopores in different approximations were defined. The sizes of nanopores (radius in spherical approximations) were obtained within Tao-Eldrup model using lifetimes of ortho-positronium decay. It is established that used model can be adequate applied to describing 'pick-off' annihilation processes in nanopores of ceramic materials for humidity sensors. © 2022 IEEE.
