In this paper, we propose a framework that uses latent information from Twitter images by employing the Google Cloud Vision API platform aiming at enriching social analytics with semantics and textual information. Our study reveals that user-generated content, linked data as well as hidden concepts and textual information from social images can be highly considered for enriching social analytics. Finally, we publish our annotated dataset for further use and evaluation from our research community.

Hospital systems routinely assign disease codes (ICD10 codes) to medical records. The challenge stands on treating natural and nonstandard language in which doctors express their diagnoses and, additionally, to solve a large-scale classification problem, as there are thousands of possible codes. In this working notes paper, we present our system and the results of the CLEF 2018 eHealth Evaluation Task 1 on Multilingual Information Extraction-ICD10 coding. This benchmark addresses information extraction in written text with focus on several languages, specifically Hungarian, Italian and French. The goal is to automatically assign ICD10 codes to diagnostic terms of death certificates. The problem can be cast in different ways, for example as a multilabel classification task or as sequence-to-sequence prediction. Our proposal follows this last approach, with promising results, well above the average results for the task. It only relies on the material provided by the task organizers, allowing the application of the same system to all datasets.

Elliptic Curve Cryptography operations rely heavily on the strong security of scalar multiplication. However, this operation is vulnerable to side channel (SCA) and fault injection (FA) attacks. The use of alternative arithmetic systems like Residue Number System (RNS) for all scalar multiplication underline operations has been proposed as an efficient countermeasure approach for the above attacks. In RNS, a number is represented as a set of smaller numbers, where each one is the result of the modular reduction with a given moduli basis. Under certain requirements, a number can be uniquely transformed from the integers to the RNS domain (and vice versa) and all arithmetic operations can be performed in RNS. This representation provides an inherent SCA and FA resistance to many attacks and can be further enhanced by additional RNS arithmetic manipulations or more traditional algorithmic countermeasures. In this paper, extending our previous work, we explore the potentials of RNS as an SCA and FA countermeasure. A description of RNS based SCA and FA resistance means is provided through appropriate scalar multiplication algorithmic variations, traces of the proposed algorithm are collected and the results are analyzed regarding the RNS countermeasure strength. More specifically, in this paper, a secure RNS based Montgomery Power Ladder based scalar multiplication algorithm is provided and is implemented on an ARM Cortex A7 processor. The implementation SCA-FA resistance is evaluated by collecting preliminary leakage trace results that validate our initial assumptions.

Apache Spark is commonly used as a big data analytical platform on powerful computer clusters, as it primarily employ the main computer memory for the evaluation. Our attempt adds self-organizing map software libraries onto a single big data analytical stack and is efficient and fast enough even on a standard single computer. This innovative approach brings the big data analysis to researchers with limited resources. Our genuine idea was experimentally confirmed and is described here. As a case study for our method we we used the available #Brexit data and the sentiment analysis of corresponding tweets and the correlation with the stock exchange data.

Implementation attacks and more specifically Power Analysis (PA) (the dominant type of side channel attack) and fault injection (FA) attacks constitute a pragmatic hazard for scalar multiplication, the main operation behind Elliptic Curve Cryptography. There exists a wide variety of countermeasures attempting to thwart such attacks that, however, few of them explore the potential of alternative number systems like the Residue Number System (RNS). In this paper, we explore the potential of RNS as an PA-FA countermeasure and propose an PA-FA resistant scalar multiplication algorithm and provide an extensive security analysis against the most effective PA-FA techniques. We argue through a security analysis that combining traditional PA-FA countermeasures with lightweight RNS countermeasures can provide strong PA-FA resistance.

In this paper, we propose an iterative algorithm towards the automatic labeling of Twitter accounts in respect to thematic categories derived from DBpedia properties. We describe the rationale behind the selection of these thematic categories, and discuss their evaluation assessment. Finally, we propose and analyze two generic and adaptable methodologies for discovering the necessary linked data resources for further enhancing the thematic description of Twitter accounts.

In this paper, we propose an ontology schema towards linking semantified Twitter social analytics with the Linked Open Data cloud. The ontology is deployed over a publicly available service that measures how influential a Twitter account is by combining its social activity in Twitter. According to our knowledge this is the first work that combines social analytics with the Linked Open Data (LOD) cloud.

Linked Data seem to play a seminal role in the establishment of the Semantic Web as the next-generation Web. This is even more important for digital object collections and educational institutions that aim not only to promote and disseminate their content but also to aid its discoverability and contextualization. Having already ‘semantified’ a popular digital repository system, DSpace, in this paper we show how repository metadata can be exposed as Linked Data, thus enhancing their machine understandability and contributing to the LOD cloud. Our effort comes complete with an updated UI that allows for reasoning-based search and navigation between linked resources within and outside the scope of the digital repository. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Upfront Semantic Web applications are often lacking desirable fea-tures related to their 'Web' part, despite the novelties and acknowledged added-value introduced with them. On the other hand, characteristics like front-end in-tuitiveness, dynamic content rendering and streamlined user management have been dealt with, elaborated and improved over the course of many years in the world of traditional CMSs. Instead of reinventing the wheel, in this paper we propose an example of how these features can be successfully integrated within a Semantic Web application, by taking advantage of an existing CMS infra-structure. In particular, we present our semantic book mashup, which combines Web APIs with semantics in order to produce personalized book recommenda-tions, and explain how this can be interweaved with Drupal. It is shown that this approach not only leaves reasoning expressiveness and effective ontology management uncompromised, but comes to their benefit. With the advent and rapid spread of microblogging services, web information management finds a new research topic. Although classical information retrieval methods and techniques help search engines and services to present an adequate precision in lower recall levels (top-k results), the constantly evolving information needs of microblogging users demand a different approach, which has to be adapted to the dynamic nature of On-line Social Networks (OSNs). In this work, we use Twitter as microblogging service, aiming to investigate the query expansion provision that can be extracted from large graphs, and compare it against classical query expansion methods that require mainly prior knowledge, such as browsing history records or access and management of search logs. We provide a direct comparison with mainstream media services, such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing, NBC and Reuters, while we also evaluate our approach by subjective comparisons in respect to the Google Hot Searches service. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.
