Wearable and smartphone-based emotion recognition (WER) remains a challeng.ng setting in affective computing, due to the notorious difficulty and bias associated with in-the-wild label collection. The high inter-and intra-subject emotional variability motivates us to explore WER modeling through graph node classification in a limited resources learning scheme powered by Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) graph masking augmentation tasks. We employ a subgraph sampling approach during training, utilizing labeled and unlabeled data, along with supervised, semi-supervised, and SSL mechanisms in a multi-task inductive graph neural network architecture. Our evaluations on K-EmoPhone through leave-one-group-out cross-validation in the binary arousal and valence tasks yield average accuracy gains of 4.3% and 7.8%, compared to the full resource setting, utilizing only 20% and 25% of the labels, respectively. Our model analysis sheds light on the relation of SSL graph augmentations to emotional arousal and valence and justifies the approach of SSL-driven subgraph training for in-the-wild WER. © 2025 IEEE.

The financial fraud risk assessment requires expertise concerning the audit methodology and the risk assessment of business processes. The assessment of financial fraud risks is a significant challeng. for independent, external auditors chiefly when dealing with the audit in an information technology (IT) environment. A meta-analysis financial fraud risk governance model taking into account an IT environment and based on fuzzy inference system is proposed in this paper. The fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic are employed to deal with actual business audits, which do not always concern dichotomic fraud risk conditions. The inputs of the proposed fuzzy financial fraud risk governance system concern meta-analysis input factors related to the fundamental domains of risk in IT audit comprising the (i) effective identity and access protocol, (ii) system development, (iii) control of business operations, and (iv) change in systems or applications. Results demonstrate that the proposed approach enables supporting the operational risk management to promote the operational efficiency by identifying, measuring, and disclosing events (risk conditions) both in terms of qualitative (stratification) and quantitative (score) analysis. The fuzzy IT financial fraud risk system is able to work as a first barrier to reflect the adequacy of the information technologies and systems used to avoid risk in the financial fraud governance. © 2021 IEEE.

Utilizing Layout Effects for Analog Logic Locking

While numerous obfuscation techniques are available for securing digital assets in the digital domain, there has been a notable lack of focus on protecting Intellectual Property (IP) in the analog domain. This is primarily due to the relatively smaller footprint of analog components within an Integrated Circuit (IC), with the majority of the surface dedicated to digital elements. However, despite their smaller nature, analog components are highly valuable IP and warrant effective protection. In this paper, we present a groundbreaking method for safeguarding analog IP by harnessing layout-based effects that are typically considered undesirable in IC design. Specifically, we exploit the impact of Leng.h of Oxide Diffusion and Well Proximity Effect on transistors to fine-tune critical parameters such as transconductance (gm) and threshold voltage (Vth). These parameters remain concealed behind key inputs, akin to the logic locking approach employed in digital ICs. Our research explores the application of layout-based effects in two commercial CMOS technologies, namely a 28nm and a 65nm node. To demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed technique, we implement it for locking an Operational Transconductance Amplifier. Extensive simulations are performed, evaluating the obfuscation streng.h by applying a large number of key sets (over 50,000 and 300,000). The results exhibit a significant degradation in performance metrics, such as open-loop gain (up to 130dB), phase margin (up to 50 degrees), 3dB bandwidth (approximately 2.5MHz), and power consumption (around 1mW) when incorrect keys are employed. Our findings highlight the advantages of our approach as well as the associated overhead. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Sharp-rejection and low-loss planar wide-band bandpass filters with embedded in-band frequency-agile notches, that are useful for dynamic multi-interference mitigation in broad-band antenna systems, are presented. The proposed RF filter concept consists of in-series-cascaded transversal signal-interference filtering cells with an embedded tunable quasi-absorptive-type notch in the transmission range of each of them. Each of these cells is made up of three signal-propagation paths in which one of them is reused by both filtering functionalities. This leads to smaller footprint as opposed to conventional solutions based on in-series cascades of separate filtering units. Furthermore, the in-band tunable notches can be spectrally merged so that the number of active rejection bands in the passband is dynamically controlled. For experimental-demonstration purposes, a 2-GHz two-stage microstrip prototype with two independently-tunable quasi-absorptive-type notches is developed and characterized. © 2018 IEEE.

A type of double-functionality filtering impedance transformer with multi-band and input-reflectionless capabilities is presented. It exploits a multi-passband filtering/impedance-transformation channel loaded with a complementary resistively-terminated multi-bandstop branch at its input node that dissipates the input-signal energy in the stopband regions of the former. This multi-band/multi-operational circuit approach could result in insertion-loss and circuit-size advantages when employed in complete RF front-end chains by relaxing the need for isolators or attenuators for inter-block matching. A coupling-matrix-based formulation for its design and theoretical examples of first-order dual-band and second-order triple-band realizations are provided. Furthermore, for experimental-demonstration purposes, a 1.9/2.1-GHz dual-band microstrip prototype is built and tested. © 2018 IEEE.

A class of frequency-reconfigurable reflectionless microstrip bandpass filters is reported. This RF/microwave device is based on a complementary-duplexer architecture made up of a bandpass-type and a bandstop-type channel with resistive termination. Whereas the bandpass channel defines the transmission profile of the overall filter, the input-signal energy that is not transmitted by this channel is absorbed by the bandstop branch. In this manner, a reflectionless behavior at the filter input is achieved. The theoretical foundations of the devised input-reflectionless bandpass filter and synthesis examples for single/multistage designs are presented. Furthermore, for experimental-validation purposes, a two-stage prototype that can be tuned within the 0.8-1.1-GHz range is manufactured and tested. © 2018 IEEE.

This paper presents a review of multi-functional RF passive components. Special emphasis is given on planar passive devices that co-integrate the filtering functionality with other RF-analog-processing actions in order to reduce the size and the loss of conventional transmitter and receiver chains based on series-cascaded RF mono-functional passive blocks. Examples of multi-operational RF circuits that are covered in this overview article include: i) frequency-static and reconfigurable Wilkinson-type power dividers with added single/multi-band filtering behavior, ii) frequency-adaptive single/multi-band filtering impedance transformers, and iii) frequency-tunable broad-band bandpass filters with controllable notches inserted in the transmission band. For these multi-functional circuits, experimental results of several proof-of-concept microstrip prototypes are shown.

This paper focuses on the design of surface-acoustic-wave-(SAW)-based bandpass filters (BPFs) with enhanced fractional bandwidth (FBW) and constant in-band group delay (τ g ). They are based on a hybrid RF-design approach in which high-quality-factor (Q) SAW resonators are effectively combined with low-Q lumped elements (LEs). Contrary to conventional ladder-or lattice-type filter architectures, the devised configuration enables passbands that can simultaneously achieve: i) flat in-band τ g , ii) FBWs that are larger than the electromechanical coupling coefficient (kt 2 ) of its constituent substrate, and iii) Qs of the order of a thousand. In order to validate the proposed filter design approach, a two-pole/four-transmission-zero (TZ) prototype has been designed, manufactured, and measured. It exhibited passband bandwidth of 0.45 MHz, FBW of 1.4kt 2 , minimum in-band insertion loss of 1.5 dB, effective Q of 8,000, in-band return loss of 23 dB, and an average τ g of 0.86 ps.

Technical Indicators (TIs) are not only useful tools to analyze and forecast the price of financial security, but also one of the well established applications currently in practice to perform high returns. Traders use TIs to generate trading buy/sell signals. In spite of their practical success, the main problem of a TI is to determine its appropriate parameters which help obtain the most accurate signals and in turn increase returns. The quality of these generated signals depends mainly on each TI's parameters. In this paper, to improve prediction accuracy, we propose a model that integrates the study of financial security historical prices data with TIs. The model employs a Fast Genetic Algorithm technique to optimize and select best parameters combination of four TIs over two proposed fitness functions. An early description of the concept using similar model generation was given in [1]. We depend on this recent work to study gained profit against taken risk. © 2016 IEEE.
