One of the musical activities that can be positively impacted by the Internet of Musical Things (IoMusT) is music education. However, although the IoMusT's properties hold a promising potential to enrich music learning processes, the extent to which early childhood music educators and scholars have embraced this emerging type of technology and explored their potential is still very limited. To bridge this gap, we first survey the relevant literature at the confluence of the Internet of Things, music technology, and education. Then, we propose a pedagogical framework to support designing IoMusT applications for early childhood music education. The framework is based on five dimensions: embodied sense-making, nonlinearity, participatory sense-making, privacy and security, as well as accessibility and inclusiveness. Furthermore, we corroborate the framework with a set of pedagogical scenarios showing its usage. Our study aims to foster interdisciplinary research at the confluence of pedagogy and music technology in an application domain, that of early childhood music education, hitherto unexplored.

Large combinational circuits need to be partitioned in order to manage scarce resources on k-LUT based FPGAs . Circuit partitioning has multiple applications in VLSI design. One of the most common is that of dividing combinational circuits (usually large ones) that will not fit on a single package among a number of packages. Partitioning is of practical importance for k- LUT based FPGA circuit implementation. In this work is presented a multilevel multi-resource partitioning algorithm for partitioning large combinational circuits using cone-clusters in order to efficiently map existing and commercially available k -LUT based FPGAs packages.

Surface crystallization processes in the 80GeSe 2 -20Ga 2 Se 3 chalcogenide glasses annealed at 380 °C for 25 h and 80 h were studied using atomic force microscopy method. It is shown that crystallites of GeSe 2 phase are formed in the crystallized glasses on the surface. Optimal conditions of crystallization process were selected for preparation of glasses for IR photonics and sensor electronics.

In this paper we address the Phase Retrieval problem, which aims to recover the phase of the Fourier transform of a signal when only magnitude measurements are available. Following recent developments in Phase Retrieval, the problem can be transformed into a convex semidefinite programming optimization problem, which can be solved using Matrix Completion techniques. In this paper the acquisition process is modeled using a likelihood function, which splits the original problem into two convex optimization problems, and alternates between the solution of each of them. To relate both convex problems we introduce a heuristic, which results in fast convergence of the proposed method.

This paper proposes the V/sub B5.2/ interface as a basis for the definition of the generic Iu interface. The architecture of the emerging network that incorporates a third generation mobile system (UMTS) service node (SN), and any kind of access network (AN) technology, fixed or wireless, over the proposed V/sub B5.2/ oriented generic interface, is presented. The mapping of the call/connection control (CC) related messages, needed for the manipulation of connections, with the involvement of the broadband bearer connection control protocol (B-BCCP), is formed in a generic approach. The paper concludes pointing out possible enhancements to the existing V/sub B5.2/ interface, and mainly to the B-BCCP, in order to play effectively the role as a candidate of the Iu generic interface.

We propose a new automatic procedure to generate hybrid meshes to simulate turbulent flows for wind farm design and management. In particular, numerical modeling of wind farms involves a RANS simulation of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) flow and modeling the turbines using the actuator disc theory. Therefore, the generated meshes have to fulfill several geometrical requirements to answer to the different modeling features. They must: capture the topography features that can influence the wind flow; have a boundary layer close to the terrain to resolve the ABL; be conformally adapted to the disc (turbine) to simulate the turbine effects on the wind flow; be adapted around the disc to capture the wake effect; and present a smooth mesh size transition around the disc to conform the mesh size of the ABL mesh, in which the turbines are immersed. We highlight that the mesh generation procedure is fully automatic once given the mesh size, a topography description, the wind inflow direction, a list of turbine insertion points, and the turbine models. To illustrate the applicability of the proposed procedure, we present two wind farm cases: an offshore wind farm mesh where we illustrate the computed wind deficit, and an onshore farm assimilating real topography data.

Passive Millimeter Wave Images currently used to detect hidden threats suffer from low resolution, blur, and a very low signal-to-noise-ratio. These shortcomings render threat detection, both visual and automatic, very challenging. Furthermore, due to the presence of very severe noise, most of the blind image restoration methods fail to recover the system blurring kernel from a single image. In this paper we propose a robust Bayesian multiframe blind image deconvolution method that approximates the posterior distribution of the blur by a Dirichlet distribution. We show that this approach naturally incorporates the non-negativity and normalization constraints for the blur and cope well with the image noise. The performance of the proposed method is tested on both synthetic and real images.
