Graphene is an ideal 2D material system bridging electronic and photonic devices. It also breaks the fundamental speed and size limits by electronics and photonics, respectively. Graphene offers multiple functions of signal transmission, emission, modulation, and detection in a broad band, high speed, compact size, and low loss. Here, we have a brief view of graphene based functional devices at microwave, terahertz, and optical frequencies. Their fundamental physics and computational models were discussed as well.

Restricted by their energy storage mechanism,current energy storage devices have certain drawbacks,such as low power density for batteries and low energy density for ***,the nearest ion capacitors,such as lithium-ion and sodium-ion capacitors containing battery-type and capacitor-type electrodes,may allow achieving both high energy and power *** the inspiration,a new zinc-ion capacitor(ZIC)has been designed and realized by assembling the free-standing manganese dioxide-carbon nanotubes(MnO2-CNTs)battery-type cathode and MXene(Ti3C2Tx)capacitortype anode in an aqueous *** ZIC can avoid the insecurity issues that frequently occurred in lithium-ion and sodium-ion capacitors in organic *** expected,the ZIC in an aqueous liquid electrolyte exhibits excellent electrochemical performance(based on the total weight of cathode and anode),such as a high specific capacitance of 115.1 F g?1(1 mV s?1),high energy density of 98.6 Wh kg?1(77.5 W kg?1),high power density of 2480.6 W kg?1(29.7 Wh kg?1),and high capacitance retention of^83.6%of its initial capacitance(15,000 cycles).Even in an aqueous gel electrolyte,the ZIC also exhibits excellent *** work provides an essential strategy for designing next-generation high-performance energy storage devices.

RGB-T image saliency detection via collaborative graph learning

Image saliency detection is an active research topic in the community of computer vision and multimedia. Fusing complementary RGB and thermal infrared data has been proven to be effective for image saliency detection. In this paper, we propose an effective approach for RGB-T image saliency detection. Our approach relies on a novel collaborative graph learning algorithm. In particular, we take superpixels as graph nodes, and collaboratively use hierarchical deep features to jointly learn graph affinity and node saliency in a unified optimization framework. Moreover, we contribute a more challenging dataset for the purpose of RGB-T image saliency detection, which contains 1000 spatially aligned RGB-T image pairs and their ground truth annotations. Extensive experiments on the public dataset and the newly created dataset suggest that the proposed approach performs favorably against the state-of-the-art RGB-T saliency detection methods. In the last two decades, many evolutionary algorithms have shown promising performance in solving a variety of multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs). Since there does not exist an evolutionary algorithm having the best performance on all the MOPs, it is unreasonable to use a single evolutionary algorithm to tackle all the MOPs. Since many real-world MOPs are computationally expensive, selecting the best evolutionary algorithm from multiple candidates via empirical comparisons is also impractical. To address the above issues, this paper proposes an automated algorithm selection method for choosing the most suitable evolutionary algorithm for a given MOP. The proposed method establishes a predictor based on the performance of a set of candidate evolutionary algorithms on multiple benchmark MOPs, where the inputs of the predictor are the explicit and implicit features of an MOP, and the output is the index of the evolutionary algorithm having the best performance on the MOP. Experimental results indicate that the evolutionary algorithm suggested by the proposed method is highly competitive among all the candidate evolutionary algorithms, demonstrating the practical value of the proposed method for engineers to select an evolutionary algorithm for their applications.

Proteins are ubiquitously modified with glycans of varied chemical structures through distinct glycosidic linkages, making the landscape of protein glycosylation challenging to map. Profiling of intact glycopeptides with mass spectrometry (MS) has recently emerged as a powerful tool for revealing matched information of the glycosylation sites and attached glycans (i.e., intact glycosites), but is largely limited to individual glycosylation types. Herein, we describe Click-iG, which integrates metabolic labeling of glycans with clickable unnatural sugars, an optimized MS method, and a tailored version of pGlyco3 software to enable simultaneous enrichment and profiling of three types of intact glycopeptides: N-linked, mucin-type O-linked, and O-GlcNAcylated glycopeptides. We demonstrate the utility of Click-iG by the identification of thousands of intact glycosites in cell lines and living mice. From the mouse lung, heart, and spleen, a total of 2053 intact N-glycosites, 262 intact O-GalNAc glycosites, and 1947 O-GlcNAcylation sites were identified. Click-iG-enabled comprehensive coverage of the protein glycosylation landscape lays the foundation for interrogating crosstalk between different glycosylation pathways.

In this paper, a time domain compensation method is proposed for in-phase (I)/quadrature (Q) mismatch occurring in a wideband Zero-IF radio architecture. First, training sequences are used for error estimation and the FIR filter are developed to reduce the imbalance between the IQ paths. Then, we perform channel equalization on the signal to solve the channel distortion still in the passband. The simulation results of the point-frequency continuous wave (CW) signal and the Radar Chirp signals (LFM) prove the effectiveness of the method. We have established a receiver system level hardware implement platform to test the practicality of the method. The test results show that the method can reduce the IRR by about 29dB.

Edge-guided non-local fully convolutional network for salient object detection

Fully Convolutional Neural Network (FCN) has been widely applied to salient object detection recently by virtue of high-level semantic feature extraction, but existing FCN-based methods still suffer from continuous striding and pooling operations leading to loss of spatial structure and blurred edges. To maintain the clear edge structure of salient objects, we propose a novel Edge-guided Non-local FCN (ENFNet) to perform edge-guided feature learning for accurate salient object detection. In a specific, we extract hierarchical global and local information in FCN to incorporate non-local features for effective feature representations. To preserve good boundaries of salient objects, we propose a guidance block to embed edge prior knowledge into hierarchical feature maps. The guidance block not only performs feature-wise manipulation but also spatial-wise transformation for effective edge embeddings. Our model is trained on the MSRA-B dataset and tested on five popular benchmark datasets. Comparing with the state-of-the-art methods, the proposed method achieves the best performance on all datasets. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

An improved reversible data hiding in encrypted images using parametric binary tree labeling

This work proposes an improved reversible data hiding scheme in encrypted images using parametric binary tree labeling(IPBTL-RDHEI), which takes advantage of the spatial correlation in the entire original image but not in small image blocks to reserve room for hiding data. Then the original image is encrypted with an encryption key and the parametric binary tree is used to label encrypted pixels into two different categories. Finally, one of the two categories of encrypted pixels can embed secret information by bit replacement. According to the experimental results, compared with several state-of-the-art methods, the proposed IPBTL-RDHEI method achieves higher embedding rate and outperforms the competitors. Due to the reversibility of IPBTL-RDHEI, the original plaintext image and the secret information can be restored and extracted losslessly and separately. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. The task of RGBT tracking aims to take the complementary advantages from visible spectrum and thermal infrared data to achieve robust visual tracking, and receives more and more attention in recent years. Existing works focus on modality-specific information integration by introducing modality weights to achieve adaptive fusion or learning robust feature representations of different modalities. Although these methods could effectively deploy the modality-specific properties, they ignore the potential values of modality-shared cues as well as instance-aware information, which are crucial for effective fusion of different modalities in RGBT tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel Multi-Adapter convolutional Network (MANet) to jointly perform modality-shared, modality-specific and instance-aware feature learning in an end-to-end trained deep framework for RGBT tracking. We design three kinds of adapters within our network. In a specific, the generality adapter is to extract shared object representations, the modality adapter aims at encoding modality-specific information to deploy their complementary advantages, and the instance adapter is to model the appearance properties and temporal variations of a certain object. Moreover, to reduce computational complexity for real-time demand of visual tracking, we design a parallel structure of generic adapter and modality adapter. Extensive experiments on two RGBT tracking benchmark datasets demonstrate the outstanding performance of the proposed tracker against other state-of-the-art RGB and RGBT tracking algorithms.

Domain generalization (DG) aims to solve the problem of significant performance degradation when target domain data collected from the Out-Of-Distribution (O.O.D). Previous efforts try to exploit invariant features in the source domain through CNN networks. However, inspired by causal mechanisms, we find that the complex spurious-invariant information is still hidden in this view invariant features, and the impact of domain and class discrepancies on extracting invariance has not been effectively mitigated. To alleviate these issues, we propose a self-weighted multi-view mining invariance domain generalization framework (SMIDG). On the one hand, to make up for the insufficiency of traditional single-view convolutional feature extraction networks, we propose to mine features from another frequency view and use the self-adaptive adversarial masks to eliminate some spurious correlations, ensuring causal invariance in the coarse-grained generalization. However, due to inconsistencies in discriminative information between interdomain and intra-domain samples, as well as inter-class and intra-class samples, the coarse-grained elimination of spurious associations does not fully resolve this issue. On the other hand, we also consider the fine-grained generalization from two aspects. Firstly, to better tackle the domain discrepancies, we propose a novel progressive contrastive learning strategy that learns the underlying specific features of samples while gradually mitigating domain discrepancies, thereby ensuring domain invariance in fine-grained generalization. Secondly, due to the issue of feature inconsistency, we adopt a self-adaptive hard sample mining method with information gain to ensure that the model pays more attention on hard disentangled samples, thus maintaining feature invariance. Extensive experiments on five benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. © 1992-2012 IEEE.
