Alignment-free RGB-Thermal (RGB-T) salient object detection (SOD) aims to achieve robust performance in complex scenes by directly leveraging the complementary information from unaligned visible-thermal image pairs, without requiring manual alignment. However, the labor-intensive process of collecting and annotating image pairs limits the scale of existing benchmarks, hindering the advancement of alignment-free RGB-T SOD. In this paper, we construct a large-scale and high-diversity unaligned RGB-T SOD dataset named UVT20K, comprising 20,000 image pairs, 407 scenes, and 1256 object categories. All samples are collected from real-world scenarios with various challenges, such as low illumination, image clutter, complex salient objects, and so on. To support the exploration for further research, each sample in UVT20K is annotated with a comprehensive set of ground truths, including saliency masks, scribbles, boundaries, and challenge attributes. In addition, we propose a Progressive Correlation Network (PCNet), which models inter- and intra-modal correlations on the basis of explicit alignment to achieve accurate predictions in unaligned image pairs. Aiming at the problem that reprojection error (RE) cannot reflect the camera calibration accuracy intuitively, this paper proposes a method to verify the camera calibration results in world coordinate system. Firstly, the checkerboard calibration target is photographed with the camera under test, and the internal parameters and distortion parameters of the camera are calculated by using the pinhole model and the Kannala-Brandt (KB) fisheye model, respectively. Then, the same camera is used to shoot two targets in the field of view (FOV), and the pixel coordinates of the two target points are detected from the image. Thirdly, the inverse projection model is used to calculate the distance between the two objects and the angle between the camera and the two objects, and the real distance and angle are compared. The experimental results show that the average distance errors of the pinhole model and the KB fisheye model are 0.34% and 0.35%, respectively, and the angle errors are 0.40% and 0.12%, respectively, which proves that the verification method can effectively characterize the calibration accuracy of the camera.

Uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle is a newly proposed sparse array (SA) design scheme that aims to design SAs using cascaded ULAs, based on which a number of SAs with desired capacity are devised. In this letter, we aim to introduce the UF idea to devise sparse MIMO arrays with reduced mutual coupling and increased uniform degrees of freedom. However, existing sparse MIMO array design approach needs the transmit and receive arrays in MIMO radar have hole-free difference coarrays (DCAs), which is no longer the best choice for UF principle due to the fact that SAs designed via UF cannot guarantee hole-free DCAs. In this regard, considering the difference coarray of the sum coarray (DCSC) concept, a novel sparse MIMO array design strategy which is suitable for UF principle is proposed. Based on the novel strategy and UF principle, a new sparse MIMO array is designed. A broadband dual-polarized magneto-electric dipole antenna excited by Γ-shaped strips is presented in this communication. The proposed antenna contains three parts. The radiating element of the proposed antenna is a combination of the vertically oriented shorted patch, the planar dipole and the bottom plate. The two orthogonal Γ-shaped feeding strips connected with 50 Ω SMA launchers are used to excite the proposed antenna. The corner reflector can effectively improve the radiation performance of the proposed antenna. As shown in simulated results, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 48% for standing-wave ratio (SWR) ≤2 (0.86-2.47 GHz), the available bandwidth of the antenna covers the 2G/3G/LTE bands, and the antenna obtains a stable gain that the average value is 10 dBi. Meanwhile, the antenna has good performance in radiation characteristics. The proposed antenna can be applied to the base station communication systems.

Flexible tactile sensors that can detect both normal and tangential forces with good flexibility, high sensitivity, wide detection range and rapid dynamic response are imminently needed for electronic skin (e-skin). Thus, we innovatively demonstrated a flexible capacitive three-axis tactile sensor with satisfactory flexibility, high sensitivity (0.693 N -1 at 0-5 N and 0.483 N -1 at 5-14 N for normal force, as well as 0.551 N -1 at 0-2 N and 0.481 N -1 at 2-6 N for tangential force), fast response time (30 ms) and a low hysteresis (6.8%), which was fabricated by combining advanced sensor structure with porous composite dielectric layer in a simple and low-cost three-dimensional (3D) printing method and layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly method. The working principle and sensing characteristics of the sensor were elaborated by establishing the theoretical mechanism, and further simulation verification was carried out by the finite element modeling (FEM). Our sensor was employed in soft manipulator grasping and gamepad rotation, suggestive of the application potential of the three-axis force tactile sensor as flexible e-skin in the field of tactile sensing. Our work may pave a way to softness haptic perception strategy, which could be widely utilized in e-skin, soft robot, dexterous robotic manipulation, and intelligent prosthesis. © 2022, The Authors. We introduce the notion of logarithmically concave (or log-concave) sequences in Coding Theory. A sequence a0, a1, . . ., an of real numbers is called log-concave if a2i ≥ ai−1ai+1 for all 1 ≤ i ≤ n−1. A natural sequence of positive numbers in coding theory is the weight distribution of a linear code consisting of the nonzero values among Ai’s where Ai denotes the number of codewords of weight i. We call a linear code log-concave if its nonzero weight distribution is log-concave. Our main contribution is to show that all binary general Hamming codes of length 2r − 1 (r = 3 or r ≥ 5), the binary extended Hamming codes of length 2r (r ≥ 3), and the second order Reed-Muller codes R(2, m) (m ≥ 2) are all log-concave while the homogeneous and projective second order Reed-Muller codes are either log-concave, or 1-gap log-concave. Furthermore, we show that any MDS [n, k] code over Fq satisfying 3 ≤ k ≤ n/2 + 3 is log-concave if q ≥ q0(n, k) which is the larger root of a quadratic polynomial. In this paper, based on the rectangular iterative technique, we propose an omnidirectional UWB fractal antenna by using microstrip line as feed. The antenna takes regular octagonal shape as patch element. Meanwhile, the iterative fractal and notch technique has been adopted to optimize the UWB antenna performance. After multiple iterations of the configured octagonal patch element, the optimized UWB performance can be obtained. The simulation results reveal that the operating bandwidth of the antenna meets Federal Communications Commission (FCC) broadband standard. Moreover, in order to avoid the electromagnetic interference in the X-band identified by the IEEE 521-2002 standard, we further adopt notch techniques and add the U-shaped gap to the microstrip line to achieve electromagnetic shielding. The impedance matching has been achieved for the antenna by imposing the slot on the ground. After optimizing the slot structure, the reflection of the antenna has reduced in the whole operating frequency band. The overall size of the ultra-wideband fractal antenna was designed to $25 \times 35 mm^{2}$ and was composed of FR-4 material with the relative dielectric constant $\varepsilon_{r} = 4.4$ and loss tangent angle $\tan \theta = 0.02$. After optimization, the antenna has good impedance matching and meets the UWB antenna omnidirectional standard. In 3.1–15.4GHz (excluding X-band), and the reflection coefficient S 11 is lower than -10 dB, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is less than 2, maximum gain reaches 6dB. The results indicated that our proposed fractal antenna is promising for UWB antenna applications.

Super-Broadband Rectifier With Wide-band Resistance Compression Network and Harmonic Cycling for RF-Harvesting

In this paper, a super-broadband (SBB) rectifier using a wideband resistance compression network (WRCN) and harmonic cycling is proposed, simulated, fabricated, measured and analyzed in detail for the harvesting of ambient Radio frequency (RF) energy. Meanwhile, impedance compression and matching are achieved to implement the SBB using WRCN and impedance operation networks. Additionally, harmonic cycling structure and bending technology are employed to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and reduce the size, respectively. For demonstration, a prototype of the proposed rectifier is fabricated and measured. The measured results are in good accordance with the simulated ones, indicating that the rectifier can provide high efficiency and ultra-broadband rectification characteristics. A PCE over 50% is realized at 3.5 GHz with an input power range of 6–24 dBm, and a PCE of 75% is obtained at an input power of 18 dBm. The PCE is greater than 50% at 17 dBm with an input frequency of 2.7–4.6 GHz. This work can find significant applications in the development of RF-harvesting. © 2022, CC BY.

The power spectra estimated from the brain recordings are the mixed representation of aperiodic transient activity and periodic oscillations, i.e., aperiodic component (AC) and periodic component (PC). Quantitative neurophysiology requires precise decomposition preceding parameterizing each component. However, the shape, statistical distribution, scale, and mixing mechanism of AC and PCs are unclear, challenging the effectiveness of current popular parametric models such as FOOOF, IRASA, BOSC, etc. Here, was proposed to decompose the neural spectra by embedding the nonparametric spectra estimation with penalized Whittle likelihood and the shape language modeling into the expectation maximization framework. was validated on the synthesized spectra with loss statistics and on the sleep EEG and the large sample iEEG with evaluation metrics and neurophysiological evidence. Compared to FOOOF, both the simulation presenting shape irregularities and the batch simulation with multiple isolated peaks indicated that improved the fit of AC and PCs with less loss and higher F1-score in recognizing the centering frequencies and the number of peaks;the sleep EEG revealed that produced more distinguishable AC exponents and improved the sleep state classification accuracy;the iEEG showed that approached the clinical findings in peak discovery. Overall, offered good performance in the spectra decomposition, which allows flexible parameterization using descriptive statistics or kernel functions. is a seminal tool for brain signal decoding in fields such as cognitive neuroscience, brain-computer interface, neurofeedback, and brain diseases. © 2013 IEEE.

Since there is good potential for practical applications such as encrypted image authentication, content owner identification and privacy protection, reversible data hiding in encrypted image (RDHEI) has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a new separable RDHEI framework. Additional data can be embedded into a cipher image previously encrypted using Josephus traversal and a stream cipher. A block histogram shifting (BHS) approach using self-hidden peak pixels is adopted to perform reversible data embedding. Depending on the keys held, legal receivers can extract only the embedded data with the data hiding key, or, they can decrypt an image very similar to the original with the decryption key. They can extract both the embedded data and recover the original image error-free if both keys are available. The results demonstrate that higher embedding payload, better quality of decrypted-marked image and error-free image recovery are achieved.
