This paper studies the decoding performance of low-density parity-check(LDPC)codes in a serial concatenation system with polar codes employing the successive cancellation(SC)*** is known that the absolute incorrect log-likelihood ratio(LLR)values from the SC decoding can be very *** phenomenon dramatically deteriorates the error correcting performance of the outer LDPC *** this paper,the LLR values of polar codes are regulated by a log processing before being sent to the LDPC *** results show that the log processing is an efficient approach with a low optimization complexity compared with the existing procedures to improve the performance of the serial concatenation systems.

Simulating Maxwell-Schrodinger Equations by High-Order Symplectic FDTD Algorithm

A novel symplectic algorithm is proposed to solve the Maxwell Schrodinger (M-S) system for investigating light-matter interaction. Using the fourth-order symplectic integration and fourth-order collocated differences, M-S equations are discretized in temporal and spatial domains, respectively. The symplectic finite-difference time-domain (SFDTD) algorithm is developed for accurate and efficient study of coherent interaction between electromagnetic fields and artificial atoms. Particularly, the Dirichlet boundary condition is adopted for modeling the Rabi oscillation problems under the semiclassical framework. To implement the Dirichlet boundary condition, image theory is introduced, tailored to the high-order collocated differences. For validating the proposed SFDTD algorithm, three-dimensional numerical studies of the population inversion in the Rabi oscillation are presented. Numerical results show that the proposed high-order SFDTD(4, 4) algorithm exhibits better numerical performance than the conventional FDTD(2, 2) approach at the aspects of accuracy and efficiency for the long-term simulation. The proposed algorithm opens up a promising way toward a high-accurate energy-conservation modeling and simulation of complex dynamics in nanoscale light-matter interaction.

Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) for feature selection has attracted increasing attention of researchers recently. However, in the existing methods, quick convergence usually degrades the diversity of the population, especially when many irrelevant and redundant features involved in them. To this end, a diversity based competitive multi-objective particle swarm optimization for feature selection problem (named D-CMOPSO) is proposed. In D-CMOPSO, a diversified competition based learning mechanism is proposed to improve the quality of found feature subset, which consists of three parts: exemplar particle construction, pairwise competition, and diversified learning strategy. The proposed competition mechanism utilizes the above three parts to boost the diversity in the following generations. Moreover, in order to guide the initial population to evolve the promising area, a maximal information coefficient based initialization strategy is also suggested. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed D-CMOPSO is competitive for feature selection problem. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Numerical simulation of semiconductor devices enable the quick obtain of the device physical characteristics. However, the trial productions of the semiconductor devices have the disadvantages of long cycle and high cost. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out numerical simulation investigating semiconductor devices. We propose the coupling approach and the decoupling-Gummel method to solve the semiconductor equations. The results of the two methods are compared with the commercial software. Numerical experiment indicates that the results obtained by our method are accurate. When the transistor is at a low voltage bias, the decoupling method converges faster than the coupling method. In the case of high voltage bias, the decoupling method has a slower convergence speed than the coupling method, even difficult to converge for higher voltage bias. However, the coupling method has higher memory requirements than the Gummel method. Therefore, we need to balance the advantages of the coupling method and the Gummel method when conduct the numerical simulation.

This paper addresses how to develop theory of characteristic modes (TCM) for finite periodic arrays or structures with fully using their periodic property. For ease of reference, the developed method is called periodic characteristic mode analysis (PCMA) method. Its basic idea is that we adopt a small set of specially selected characteristic modes (CMs) of a reference cell (element) of the structure to build up entire-domain basis functions (EDBFs) defined on each cell of the array structure and apply them to represent the characteristic currents (CCs) of the whole structure. Making use of periodicity of the array can greatly reduce the matrix size of the resultant generalized eigenvalue equation and speed up its solution process.

As a frequently-used dimensionality reduction technique in machine learning, feature selection has attracted interests in the last decade. Since feature selection is essentially a combinatorial optimization problem, how to search the valuable feature subset is a challenging optimization task. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and its variations have shown their competitiveness in solving feature selection problem. However, they have been proven to be easily trapped into the local optimal in high-dimensional space due to their intrinsic characteristic of quick convergence. To this end, an effective binary particle swarm optimization algorithm, named CBPSOFS, is proposed for feature selection, where a community-grouping based adaptive updating strategy is designed to avoid trapping into the local optimum and enhance the performance of PSO algorithm in feature selection. To be specific, the correlationship among features is used to construct the feature network, where multiple feature groups are obtained by dividing the achieved feature network. Considering that a community usually contains multiple similar features, the proposed adaptive updating strategy utilizes these feature groups to make the similar features not be included in the same particle so as to maintain the diversity of the population in the evolution. In addition, an information gain based initialization strategy and a history information based resetting strategy are also developed to improve the quality of obtained feature subset. Experimental results on several real world datasets have demonstrated the effectiveness of CBPSOFS in feature selection when compared with the several state-of-the-art baselines.

RGB-thermal salient object detection (SOD) aims to segment the common prominent regions of visible image and corresponding thermal infrared image that we call it RGBT SOD. Existing methods don’t fully explore and exploit the potentials of complementarity of different modalities and multi-type cues of image contents, which play a vital role in achieving accurate results. In this paper, we propose a multi-interactive dual-decoder to mine and model the multi-type interactions for accurate RGBT SOD. In specific, we first encode two modalities into multi-level multi-modal feature representations. Then, we design a novel dual-decoder to conduct the interactions of multi-level features, two modalities and global contexts. With these interactions, our method works well in diversely challenging scenarios even in the presence of invalid modality. Finally, we carry out extensive experiments on public RGBT and RGBD SOD datasets, and the results show that the proposed method achieves the outstanding performance against state-of-the-art algorithms. RGB and thermal source data suffer from both shared and specific challenges, and how to explore and exploit them plays a critical role to represent the target appearance in RGBT tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel challenge-aware neural network to handle the modality-shared challenges (e.g., fast motion, scale variation and occlusion) and the modality-specific ones (e.g., illumination variation and thermal crossover) for RGBT tracking. In particular, we design several parameter-shared branches in each layer to model the target appearance under the modality-shared challenges, and several parameter-independent branches under the modality-specific ones. Based on the observation that the modality-specific cues of different modalities usually contains the complementary advantages, we propose a guidance module to transfer discriminative features from one modality to another one, which could enhance the discriminative ability of some weak modality. Moreover, all branches are aggregated together in an adaptive manner and parallel embedded in the backbone network to efficiently form more discriminative target representations. These challenge-aware branches are able to model the target appearance under certain challenges so that the target representations can be learnt by a few parameters even in the situation of insufficient training data. From the experimental results we will show that our method operates at a real-time speed while performing well against the state-of-the-art methods on three benchmark datasets. In order to meet the requirements of the navigation system for antennas with wide 3-dB AR beam-width, this paper proposes an axial-ratio beam-width enhancement of antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG). The effect of surface wave on the circular polarization of the antenna is suppressed by loading two layers of mushroom-like EBG unit cells around the patch. The loading of the EBG increases the 3-dB AR beam-width of the antenna by 78% in the xoz plane and the by 84% in the yoz plane, the simulation and test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.
