Despite mathematics being a mandatory subject in elementary schools worldwide, it is often taught using traditional methods that emphasise rote memorisation, frequent homework assignments, and retention. These approaches can feel monotonous and tiresome for 21st-century students. This study investigates the use of interactive technology in selected elementary school math classrooms to explore its potential for enhancing students’ mathematical communication skills. The integration of technology in teaching methods has the potential to improve academic performance and foster excellent mathematical communication proficiency. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 30 fourth-grade students from two public elementary schools. The findings indicate that teachers recognise the significant role of interactive technologies in enhancing elementary students’ mathematical communication skills. Furthermore, participants demonstrated improved abstract communication and comprehension following the implementation of interactive learning sessions. The results highlight a clear positive impact of technology on students’ mathematics learning, particularly when applied in hands-on learning environments. Overall, the study concludes that incorporating interactive technologies in math education is more effective than traditional teaching methods, leading to higher academic performance, a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts, and improved student communication skills. © 2025 by the authors.

This article presents a novel perspective on classification, utilizing the Spline nonparametric model as its foundation. In the realm of classification, this Spline model serves as a viable alternative to geographically weighted regression, logistic regression, and other classification models, especially when data patterns do not adhere to a specific distribution. Model parameter estimation is performed through the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach, and the data poverty severity index is employed to assess the model's performance. The results indicate that the Spline model with three knots outperforms other models, thus establishing itself as the cornerstone for classification. Additionally, we provide an overview of the distribution map based on the derived mathematical model. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

Aim of this study is conducting a curriculum analyzing in order to look at the connection among the Basic Competencies (KD) of mathematics and the productive subjects in the fashion skills program on the SPLDV topic. This study is a part of a research utilized Plomp development model. Curriculum analysis was conducted to collect data to be used in the development of Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT), and also teacher and student books. The Realistic mathematics education (RME) approach is used as the basis in the design. The result shows that mathematics Basic Competence (KD) on the SPLDV topic is connected to several subjects studied in the skill of fashion program.

In comparison to traditional classroom lessons, mobile learning is hailed as a simple, convenient, engaging, innovative, and modern means of learning. Students exhibit more self-discipline and organization during the mobile learning process. Mobile learning is becoming increasingly prevalent in the classroom. It is crucial to develop a shared understanding of the research conducted to comprehend how mobile learning is used. The goal of the study is to give a summary of the literature on mobile learning based on a bibliometric evaluation of several journal articles published in the Scopus database and to determine fresh ideas and knowledge gaps as a resource for more research. The technique is bibliometric analysis with the use of the programs VOSviewer, SEforRA, and Publish or Perish. The findings of this analysis show that from 2000 to 2018, the growth of mobile learning research on the Scopus database trended upward and peaked. The expanding trend of research on mobile learning has led to the discovery of numerous themes or keywords that might be used as the basis for further study. In conclusion, the bibliometric analysis provides knowledge and information about the development of mobile learning research for the possibility of a new study. © 2023, International Journal of Interactive Mobile Technologies. Deep learning and genomic strategies for ocean literacy development

Indonesia, as a nation with rich marine biodiversity, faces significant challenges in fostering ocean literacy due to the limited integration of ecological and technological content in formal education. In this study, we aimed to evaluate ocean literacy among university students through a project-based learning program incorporating deep learning and genomic data for fish species identification. The initiative responded to the urgent need for educational reform that supports sustainable ocean conservation practices. Using a quantitative approach, the program engaged 36 undergraduate biology students in various activities, including marine problem analysis, field-based fish species identification via the Fishiden platform, phylogenetic tree construction using genomic data, and public outreach through social media advocacy. Pretest and post-test evaluations measured changes in ocean literacy, while Likert-scale questionnaires assessed student engagement and perception. The results showed a significant increase in post-test scores, with a mean improvement from 58.11 to 71.88, and a moderate N-Gain of 0.30. Students who demonstrated positive responses to the program also achieved higher gains in ocean literacy, indicating a strong correlation between engagement and learning outcomes. The highest evaluation scores reflected students’ enhanced awareness, inquiry skills, and attitudes toward biodiversity conservation. Technological tools such as deep learning and genomic databases effectively support interactive and data-driven learning. These findings highlight the transformative potential of integrating technology into ocean literacy education. This research bridges technology, pedagogy, and marine conservation, emphasizing the integration of innovative educational strategies for sustainability. In the future, researchers should address study limitations and improve the accuracy of deep learning models. © 2025 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.

This study focuses on the development of inflatable boxing pads that measure kick force in Muay Thai through an air pressure sensor system integrated with an Arduino board and LabVIEW program. The objective is to calibrate and test the device with Thai boxers and assess its potential as a training tool with online trainers. In this research, we designed an experimental device and wrote a program to establish communication between the computer and the Arduino board via LabVIEW. For the inflatable boxing pads, we used an MPX10DP air pressure sensor to measure kick force. The sensor was integrated into the pads to accurately measure the force of each kick. Subsequently, the inflatable boxing pads were calibrated by applying different weights (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 kg, respectively) on the sensor. We recorded the output voltage corresponding to each weight and found potential differences ranging from 2.500 V to 2.524 V. These values were used to create a calibration curve for the device, which was used to convert voltage output to force measurements. Overall, this methodology allowed us to accurately measure the force of each kick on the inflatable boxing pads, making them a useful tool for Muay Thai training. The study also measured the kicking power of male and female athletes, with light, mid-level, and heavy kicking power ranges of 196.2-392.4 N, 441-637.65 N, and 784.8-1030.05 N, respectively. The inflatable boxing pads show potential as a useful tool in Muay Thai training, especially with the increasing demand for online training. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. Measuring undergraduate evolution learning using the CANS: psychometric strengths and limitations

Background: Evolution continues to be one of the most difficult biological topics to teach, warranting innovative pedagogical tools and assessment strategies for enhancing evolutionary instruction. A major advance in measuring the evolution knowledge of undergraduate students came with the development of the Conceptual Assessment of Natural Selections (CANS). In this study, we use the CANS to measure knowledge and learning of natural selection in a large (N > 6000) sample of undergraduate students to expand upon prior validity testing of this instrument and advance knowledge of student evolutionary reasoning. We apply the Rasch measurement framework to examine if the CANS productively measures the intended construct and investigate the patterns of knowledge and learning about evolution among students with different backgrounds and demographic characteristics. Results: While a unidimensional Rasch model demonstrated acceptable reliabilities and fit for most of the CANS items, some items showed problematic fit statistics and were resistant to instruction. The instrument items also did not span the full range of student abilities, which suggests relatively low measurement precision. Our large sample also allowed rigorous tests of multidimensionality, revealing the presence of multiple dimensions or constructs, some of which may not be intentional. These results generated specific item-level recommendations for improving this instrument. Using Rasch measures to examine learning patterns, we found that pre-test evolution knowledge was low but that there were high learning gains by the end of the course. However, some concept categories were found to be more difficult than others, suggesting the need for more attention to these areas by instructors. We also identified pre-test disparities in evolutionary knowledge by socially defined race and biological sex, yet students from all groups achieved comparable learning gains at the end of the course. Image data mining has been widely performed. Grouping images is a challenging task because images contain a lot of color information for an object. The current data clustering challenge is classifying these characteristics. The similarities between the two images describe these the characteristics using the CDF. This study aims to classify images of unstructured data transformed into other forms. The steps of the transformation process are thoroughly discussed in the methodology section. Generally, the images will be processed into a cumulative distribution function (CDF). The clustering algorithm is the k-means method, which efficiently groups data even though it is limited to numeric data types. In this study, a new approach was used: quantifying image data to process it using the k-means algorithm. A challenge in this study is that two or more different images may have the same CDF, resulting in low clustering accuracy due to relatively high error. Therefore, further image processing must ensure that each image has a different distribution function. Another challenge is finding a statistical test to measure the similarity of two images to determine the homogeneity of data within the same cluster. Based on experimental results, these methodologies can classify images with significant accuracy and effectiveness. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The purpose of this research was to suggest an applicable procedure for computing the centroid moment tensor(CMT)automatically and in real time from earthquakes that occur in Indonesia and the surrounding *** software was used to estimate the CMT solution by selecting the velocity model that best suited the local and regional geological conditions in Indonesia and the surrounding *** data used in this study were earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.4 to ***-quality,real-time broadband seismographic data were provided by the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks Web Services(FDSNWS)and the European Integrated Data Archive(EIDA)Federation in Indonesia and the surrounding ***,the inversion process and filter adjustment were carried out on the seismographic data to obtain good CMT *** CMT solutions from Gisola provided good-quality solutions,in which all earthquake data had A-level quality(high quality,with good variant reduction).The Gisola CMT solution was justified with the Global CMT(GCMT)solution by using the Kagan angle value,with an average of approximately 11.2°.This result suggested that the CMT solution generated from Gisola was trustworthy and *** Gisola CMT solution was typically available within approximately 15 minutes after an earthquake *** it met the quality requirement,it was automatically published on the *** catalog of local and regional earthquake records obtained through this technology holds great promise for improving the current understanding of regional seismic activity and ongoing tectonic *** accurate and real-time CMT solution generated by implementing the Gisola algorithm consisted of moment tensors and moment magnitudes,which provided invaluable insights into earthquakes occurring in Indonesia and the surrounding areas.

Climate change can cause an increase in rainfall, accelerated erosion and runoff of water on the surface, drought, and excess water, which in turn causes floods and landslides. A proactive response to disasters is needed to increase management effectiveness and reduce loss of life and property. Efforts to reduce the risk of hydrometeorological disasters can be carried out by involving the community. Disaster management knowledge and skills can save more lives and as a provision to respond to disasters. Therefore, research will be carried out to determine the profile of people's climate awareness and literacy in dealing with disasters caused by climate change, especially in coastal areas. A qualitative research design with the type of descriptive study is used to describe the profile of people's understanding of disasters caused by climate change, disaster risk mitigation/reduction, and ways of adaptation. Data collection will be carried out by researchers using in-depth interview techniques and field observations so that they can show the presence and involvement of researchers. The research results show that the community's climate literacy skills, especially regarding knowledge about climate change, are still not good. However, in action, the Community already has appropriate mitigation and adaptation activities in handling disasters due to climate change in coastal areas. The implication of the research is expected to provide information related to community climate literacy to meet the Climate Action sustainable development goals (SDGs) in physics learning. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
