This paper describes the implementation of a STEM scholarship program which utilized a holistic approach to providing a multi-dimensional student support system. The program has been successful in encouraging and supporting women in Applied mathematics and Computer Science by offering a diverse suite of extracurricular opportunities, actively engaging them in organized events, research projects, and participation in STEM communities, and helping them achieve higher GPAs and shorter times to graduation. The supported women also benefitted from close mentoring relationships with the faculty mentors. The program emphasized the development of empowering settings for women’s engagement and achievement, which act to sustain and expand interest in mathematics and computing, and thereby help them to see themselves as future professionals in the field. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

This research aims to develop a hydraulic bridge as a static fluid material prop. The development of these teaching aids focuses on improving students' laboratory skills. This research is based on the need for students to have practical experience in the laboratory. This developed hydraulic bridge prop is expected to strengthen mastery of concepts in static fluid materials and improve students' laboratory skills. The research method used is research and development with the resulting product in the form of hydraulic bridge props. Quantitative analysis techniques are used to measure the feasibility and effectiveness of teaching aids that have been developed, as well as to improve students' laboratory skills. The results showed that the hydraulic bridge trainers that have been developed have excellent feasibility and effectiveness. The results showed a positive relationship between using hydraulic bridge props and improving student laboratory capabilities. The interactive nature of the developed teaching aids enhances technical abilities and fosters students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. This study concluded that the teaching aids in the form of hydraulic bridges that had been developed proved feasible and effective and were able to improve students' laboratory skills. The implications of this research extend to curriculum improvement and advocating for the integration of practical teaching aids, such as hydraulic bridges, to optimize student learning outcomes. Future directions include improving the implementation of hydraulic bridges across engineering disciplines and conducting longitudinal studies to assess its long-term impact on student's academic and professional development. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aims to explore the openness traits possessed by students in realizing meaningful learning in modern physics learning. This study analyses how the openness traits possessed by learners contribute to mastery of modern physics concepts and relate them to classical physics concepts. Through quasi-experimental research methods, this study will analyze the correlation of openness traits possessed by students to the achievement of meaningful learning in modern physics concepts. This study found several findings in the form of a significant correlation between the openness traits possessed by students and the achievement of meaningful learning in the concepts of modern physical physics. Learners with higher openness tend to demonstrate a deeper understanding of complex concepts, engage more actively in critical thinking and problem-solving, and express tremendous enthusiasm for exploring advanced topics in modern physics. These students also often show a high willingness to collaborate and explore further related modern physics concepts to the relationship between classical and quantum physics. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that fostering and cultivating openness traits among learners has a high impact on achieving learning, especially in modern physics concepts that demand a high level of conceptual understanding and analytical skills. Educators and institutions can leverage these findings to design more inclusive and engaging learning environments that encourage and support the development of openness traits among learners, ultimately improving their overall academic success and proficiency in modern physics concepts. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Radial Basis Function (RBF) approaches, specifically Gaussian and Multiquadric RBFs, compared to Cubic and Adaptive Splines for data imputation in time-series datasets. Three datasets-multiseasonal, non-stationary, and spikes and drops-were used, with varying data corruption levels to simulate real-world scenarios. Imputation performance was assessed using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The results indicate that spline-based methods, particularly Cubic and Adaptive Splines, consistently deliver lower RMSE values, showcasing superior robustness to data variability and high corruption levels compared to RBF methods. This comparative analysis offers insights into selecting appropriate techniques for effective data imputation in time-series analysis. © 2024 The Authors.

Finding the partition dimension of graph is still an open problem in the graph theory. Therefore, several researchers investigate the problem in several operations of the graph. For example, the partition dimension of corona product, cartesian product, subdivision operation has been published by several researchers. Let G1, G2 be two connected graphs. We present the partition dimension of a graph G which is obtained from two graphs G1( G2 with a linking a vertex in G1 to one vertex in G2 (a bridge in graph G). This research was intended to develop the Android-based learning media on the system of linear equations in three variables whose theme was maritime. The results of this learning media development were reviewed based on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The instruments used were the media validation sheets, material validation sheets, students' responses questionnaires, and test scores on the students' learning outcomes. The learning media testing was given to the students of grade X at SMK Negeri 4 Probolinggo. The results showed that it was classified as the "excellent"category. The average scores of total validity obtained were 4.43 out of 5 on the learning media experts;it was then into "very valid"category. This learning media was considered very practical since the average score obtained on the students' responses questionnaires was 4.49 out of 5. According to the test on the learning outcomes, 93.33% of the total number of students in grade X KTPI 1 scored ≥ 70 as the minimum scores. Hence, it can be said that this learning media was effective. The conclusion drawn from the research results revealed that maritime-themed educational games for mathematics learning media were valid, practical and efficient. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The impacts incurred by floods regularly affect the planets population, inflicting social and economic problems. Optimal control strategies based on reservoir management may aid in controlling floods and mitigating the resulting damage. To this end, an accurate dynamic representation of water systems is needed. In practice, flood control strategies rely on hydrological forecasting models obtained fromconceptual or data-drivenmethods. Encouraged by recent works, this research proposes a novel surrogate model for water flow in a river channel based on physics-informed neural networks (PINNs). This approach achieved promising results regarding the assimilation of real-data measurements and the parameter identification of differential equations that govern the underlying dynamics. This article investigates PINN performance in a simulated environment built directly from a configuration of the Saint-Venant equations. The objective is to create a suitable model with high prediction accuracy and scientifically consistent behavior for use in real-Time applications. The experiments revealed promising results for hydrological modeling and presented alternatives to solve the main challenges found in conventional methods while assisting in synthesizing real-world representations. Impact Statement-The research seeks to contribute to the hydrological modeling area with a surrogate model based on physicsinformed neural networks (PINNs) to water flow in a watershed. In practice, thesemodels use conceptual or *** models to reach the precision provided by themethodology use large numbers of physical parameters. These parameters can demand deep knowledge about the environment and are possibly hard to identify in a complex basin. The present work aims to present the development of the curricular unit "Rio Doce Watershed: socio-historical, economic and environmental aspects"in the Postgraduate Course in Improvement in Environmental education Methodologies, as well as in the Postgraduate Course Degree in Specialization in School Environmental education, both offered in a hybrid format. The study is classified as qualitative and exploratory. Its participants were 363 students of the curricular unit, including 73 students from the Specialization course in School Environmental education, and 290 students from the Improvement course in Environmental education Methodologies. Among the activities developed were: production of a collaborative panel with the Padlet tool, construction of the first stage of the Environmental education Project Path Portfolio, and the presentation of the socio-historical, economic and environmental aspects of the Espírito Santo territory of Rio Doce with the production of a collaborative clothesline. The development of the curricular unit proved to be a relevant starting point for the training process of improvement and specialization courses, considering the emphasis provided on everyday aspects for a critical reflection of the reality lived in the territory, experienced through potential shared formative moments in the Virtual Learning Environment, together with the in-person meeting to conclude the curricular component. © 2023 IEEE.

There has been a lack of both educational focus on computational thinking (CT) and research into effective methods of assessing CT competence. This research takes a comprehensive look at the methods used to grade CT in higher education. This study examines the use of educational robotics (ER) as a teaching strategy in higher education, with particular attention to how undergraduate students might respond differently to this kind of learning. Students collaborate using artificial intelligence to find out how to program robots (start installing, interact, sharing information, feedback, and evaluate). Of 181 undergraduates’ students from Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Algeria, Lesoto, Cameron, Bangladesh, Sudan, Uganda, Portugal, Ukraine, Pakistan, and England make up the study groups. These students are enrolled in the first semester of the 2022 academic year. In this work, researchers employed a quantitative method technique. During the exercise, the participants were closely monitored to assess their performance in relation to the core CT constructs in the robotics class. These constructs include confidence in dealing with complexity, persistence in problem-solving, tolerance for ambiguity, ability to handle open-ended problems, effective communication skills, and teamwork abilities. In order to enhance the implementation of strategic initiatives. To facilitate more strategic learning, this study found that the use of visual robotics of artificial intelligence helped to developing CT and the respondents strong believe it to increase students’ confidence in dealing with complexity, persistence in working through difficult questions, tolerance for ambiguity, ability to handle open problems, communication skills, and teamwork. The MOOC “Ocean Literacy and River Pollution: The Relationship between the Two Realities” is a Massive Open Online Course developed within the scope of the Rio Doce School Project (Federal Institute of Espirito Santo - Campus Vila Velha, Espirito Santo), offered on the Open Courses Platform of the Federal Institute of Espirito Santo (IFES). This study analyzed the creation, validation, and evaluation of the MOOC “Ocean Literacy and River Pollution: The Relationship between the Two Realities.“ The research is based on a qualitative approach in terms of its nature, configured as an applied research, and in relation to its objectives, it is classified as an exploratory study. The participants included expert teachers and participants of the MOOC. Data collection instruments consisted of a validation assessment form and a course evaluation questionnaire. The validation and the initial stage of evaluation by participants indicated satisfactory results regarding the course, from the materials used to the potential impacts on the teaching and learning process. Thus, its application is directed towards possible potentials for formative processes related to the field of Environmental education.
