Categorization intermediate conception of the third year students' of physics education program in electromagnetism wave sub-concepts

Some results on the conceptual change, indicated a discriminate between alternative and scientific conceptions. This could be represented as a medium conceptions, called the intermediate conceptions. Researches on the electromagnetic wave sub-concept generally assessed based on modern physics conceptions, on the other hand it needs to be assessed based on the concept of electricity and magnetism. This research aims to identify and describe category of intermediate conception of third year physics education students in electromagnetic wave sub-concepts. This research used descriptive method. The subjects of this research were 73 third year students in a University of Teacher Training at Bandung. Data collection have been done by essay test and interview. The analyzed data shows that 77% of the students are on 'lateral intermediate conception'category and none of them were on 'naïve physics'. Other results showed that the students have difficulty on describing, explaining, interpreting qualitatively about electromagnetic wave sub-concepts.

Climate change can cause an increase in rainfall, accelerated erosion and runoff of water on the surface, drought, and excess water, which in turn causes floods and landslides. A proactive response to disasters is needed to increase management effectiveness and reduce loss of life and property. Efforts to reduce the risk of hydrometeorological disasters can be carried out by involving the community. Disaster management knowledge and skills can save more lives and as a provision to respond to disasters. Therefore, research will be carried out to determine the profile of people's climate awareness and literacy in dealing with disasters caused by climate change, especially in coastal areas. A qualitative research design with the type of descriptive study is used to describe the profile of people's understanding of disasters caused by climate change, disaster risk mitigation/reduction, and ways of adaptation. Data collection will be carried out by researchers using in-depth interview techniques and field observations so that they can show the presence and involvement of researchers. The research results show that the community's climate literacy skills, especially regarding knowledge about climate change, are still not good. However, in action, the Community already has appropriate mitigation and adaptation activities in handling disasters due to climate change in coastal areas. The implication of the research is expected to provide information related to community climate literacy to meet the Climate Action sustainable development goals (SDGs) in physics learning. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Measurement errors often occur when students are doing practicum and there is a lack of digital-based tools, especially the use of IoT. The purpose of this research is to develop a calorimeter practicum tool based on the internet of things on temperature & heat materials. This research and development use the ADDIE development model. At the analysis stage, a needs analysis was carried out and the problems encountered. At the design stage, starting with the design of the practicum tool and application. In the development stage, the practicum tools that have been made are tested on material experts, media experts. In the implementation phase, a field test was conducted on a small scale 14 respondents. In the evaluation stage, it is done by analyzed expert validation data, small-scale and large-scale tests. Data obtained from the observation were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. While the validation data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The recapitulation score from material experts is 91.8% (very good), media experts are 90.9% (very good), small-scale test is 76.8% (good), large-scale test is 85.08% (very good). So, it can be concluded that the calorimeter practicum tool based on the internet of things is suitable for use in the learning process. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Using the flipped classroom as an alternative learning model during this pandemic is considered appropriate because this learning model can combine internal learning in the classroom with distance learning at home and also the main goal of maximizing the achievement of learning activity goals. Therefore, this study aims to design a flipped classroom or inverted classroom learning model to be applied on 6th grade Science subject of Elementary School. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent. Control group using post-test to be analyzed. The results of this study are the e-learning media supporting the flipped classroom approach that is validated with a good level of feasibility for use during a pandemic like now, as well as the results of trials The field shows that the flipped classroom approach with e-learning does not improve learning outcomes compared to the constructivist approach without e-learning when the two approaches use an active learning process, the increase in student learning outcomes in the two approaches is the effect of active learning instruction compared to the order of instructor participation in the learning process © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aims to find out the misconceptions experienced by college students in Astronomy material using four-tier Diagnostic test through the google form. The population of this study were all 5th semester students of the Sriwijaya University physics education Study program. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. Descriptive research here is intended to identify the physics misconceptions experienced by college students in material Astronomy using four-tier diagnostic test. Quantitative research is intended to obtain data from research samples analyzed according to the statistical methods used. This research produces a description of the phenomenon of Astronomical misconceptions that occur. The instrument used is a multiple choice four-tier diagnostic test consisting of 10 questions. Based on the results of research and data analysis showed that overall percentage, college students experienced misconceptions of 57.34%, so that college students' misconceptions were categorized as moderate level misconceptions. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

The purpose of developing this digital calorimeter is to make a temperature measuring device using Arduino Uno that can be used for physics practicum at the physics Laboratory of the University of Mataram. This tool is designed according to the function of the calorimeter. Calorimeter is a tool used to determine the heat capacity, specific heat capacity, and latent heat capacity of an object or material. In making this digital calorimeter, the ds18b20 sensor is used to measure the temperature of the liquid, when the sensor is inserted into the calorimeter, it will be able to read the temperature rise that occurs in it. The graph is obtained from the relationship between time (t) and heat energy (Q), it can be seen that the longer the liquid is given electrical energy, the higher the heat generated. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Cooling Engine is one application of the laws of thermodynamics. Cooling machines such as refrigerators are a necessity for everyone. Thermoelectric which has a Peltier effect can be used as an electronic component to cool objects. This research is an experimental research and the object of research is a mini-size refrigerator with thermoelectric. The purpose of this research is to analyse the performance coefficient of the mini refrigerator that has been made. The research method used is a literature study and data are taken by measuring the temperature produced from the refrigerator. The results obtained from this study are that the refrigerator can reduce the system room temperature from 28.5 °C to 13.6 13 within 10 minutes. In the next experiment with a time of one hour, the temperature in the system room was lowered to 7.7 °C. After measuring the outside temperature in the container (reservoir) and inside the refrigerator, the coefficient of performance is 0.3. The coefficient number is relatively low, because the higher the number obtained, the more efficient the refrigerator is made. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

The COVID-19 pandemic requires educators to design meaningful learning strategies that utilize technology, one of which is by implementing a project-based learning model. Advances in 21st-century technology encourage the creation of the TPACK learning approach. Prospective physics teachers need to have TPACK abilities as a provision to become competent physics teachers. This study aims to describe the results of implementing project-based learning models in improving TPACK abilities in physics education study program students in the pandemic era. This research method is Participatory Action Research (PAR). The data collection techniques for this study were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results showed that this learning project resulted in a product in the form of a learning implementation plan document and a learning implementation video. The results of implementing the project-based learning model from this research are: 1) students' TPACK abilities are at the exploring level. Students can integrate physics learning with suitable technology. However, students lack the confidence to conclude the evaluation results because learning is not applied in real classes;2) students can use learning technology well;3) students can master the learning content well;4) students are not good at showing pedagogic abilities. Determination of learning strategies can affect students' TPACK abilities. Project-based learning strategies need to provide more stimulus so that TPACK's abilities can be improved, especially in their pedagogical abilities. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Learning aids are tools used by teachers in learning and prevent verbalization in students. The purpose of this research is to make simple earth telescopes as visual aids for optical practicum in schools. The method used is the experimental method, namely analyzing, designing, making and testing the props made. The subjects of the research were 17 students of physics education FKIP University of Mataram. The binoculars test saw the object of letters and writing with the font Times New Roman 350 at a distance of 50 meters and 100 meters. The results showed that the object was clearly visible with the satisfaction level of using the teaching aids a score of 3.71 the criteria were satisfied and suitable for use. The use of simple earth telescopes is suitable for use in optical practicums in schools. Teachers are expected to be able to create and develop teaching aids to improve students' understanding of concepts. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic requires that every employee in a university maintains his health. One of the most important body parts to maintain during this pandemic is body temperature. The purpose of this study was to develop a non-contact digital thermometer to measure the body temperature of FKIP employees, Mataram University. The digital thermometer development method starts from literature studies, tool specifications, hardware design, software design and thermometer testing to measure employee body temperature in the morning and afternoon. The results of the digital thermometer test showed that the employee's body temperature in the morning with an average of 33.36 °C and in the afternoon with an average of 33.96 °C. So it can be concluded that the Mataram University FKIP employees who came to work did not experience Covid-19 symptoms. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
