This paper presents experimental study to distinguish between malignant and benign tumors in early breast cancer detection using Ultra Wide Band (UWB) imaging. The contrast between dielectric properties of these two tumor types is the main key. Mainly water contents control the dielectric properties. Breast phantom and tumor are fabricated using pure petroleum jelly and a mixture of wheat flour and water respectively. A complete system including Neural Network (NN) model is developed for experimental investigation. Received UWB signals through the tumor embedded breast phantom are fed into the NN model to train, test and determine the tumor type. The accuracy of the experimental data is about 98.6% and 99.5% for permittivity and conductivity respectively. This leads to determine tumor dielectric properties accurately followed by distinguish between malignant and benign tumors. As malignant tumors need immediate further medical action and removal, this findings could contribute to save precious file in near future. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

IEEE 802.16e standard provides wide coverage and high bandwidth for subscribers in a metropolitan area network. It introduces Multicast and Broadcast Rekeying Algorithm (MBRA) which is a multicasting scheme to communicate with many users concurrently. Although ELAPSE (for Efficient sub-Linear rekeying Algorithm with Perfect SEcrecy) improves on the deficiencies of MBRA, the algorithm poorly responds to scalability issue. This paper proposes a Scalable Rekeying Algorithm (SRA) based on a complete binary tree structure. SRA is introduced with linear linked list structure in order to make the system more scalable. Evaluation analysis shows that SRA manages to improve the scalability issue in MBRA for Mobile WiMAX. © 2011 IEEE.

The paper presents a method for monitoring heartbeats based on time-frequency analysis of optic interferometric signal by using smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution. Optical interferometer is a sensitive device that detects physical changes of the length of optical fibre. When put in mattress, heartbeats of a subject lying on the fibre causes its perturbation. This allows entirely unobtrusive and continuous monitoring of subject's heart rate by processing interferometric signal. Reference ECG signals were acquired in order to verify recognition rate and accuracy of proposed method. An experiment with 6 subjects was performed. Interferometric and referential signals were acquired simultaneously for about 60 s. The obtained results show high recognition rate (about 97% with persons breathing and 98% with persons holding their breath).

This paper presents an experimental early breast cancer detection system in terms of heterogeneous breast phantom. The system consists of commercial Ultrawide-Band (UWB) transceivers and our developed Neural Network (NN) based Pattern Recognition (PR) software for imaging. A simple way to construct cancer- tissue and heterogeneous breast phantom using available low cost materials and their mixtures is also proposed here. The materials are: (i) A mixture of petroleum jelly, soy oil, wheat flour and water as heterogeneous tissue;(ii) A particular glass as skin;and (iii) A specific mixture of water and wheat flour as cancer- tissue. All the materials and their mixtures are considered according to the ratio of the dielectric properties of the breast tissues. To experimentally detect cancer, the UWB signals are transmitted from one side of the breast phantom and received from opposite side diagonally. By using discrete cosine transform (DCT) of the received signals, a Neural Network (NN) is trained, tested and interfaced with the UWB transceiver to form the complete system. The achieved detection rate of cancer cell's existence, size and location are approximately 100%, 93.1% and 93.3% respectively. © 2011 IEEE.

Requirements need to be validated at an early stage of analysis to address inconsistency and incompleteness issues. Capturing requirements usually involves natural language analysis, which is often imprecise and error prone, or translation into formal models, which are difficult for non-technical stakeholders to understand and use. Users often best understand proposed software systems from the likely user interface they will present. To this end we describe novel automated tool support for capturing requirements as Essential Use Cases and translating these into "Essential User Interface" low-fidelity rapid prototypes. We describe our automated tool supporting requirements capture, lo-fi user interface prototype generation and consistency management. © 2011 IEEE.

The rapid progress in education impacts the significant requirement to manage the educational globalization resources through the use of modern technology. In addition, an online system is the electronic interactive medium that delivers information to users via telephone lines to personal computers (PCs) or via cables to terminals. This paper presents on how to manage the registration of new student intake by using Online Registration New Student Intake System (ORNSIS). Integrated barcode technology with ORNSIS has been developed in order to overcome the manual system weakness, which involves the registration through the traditional methods and time consuming. Understanding the importance and limitations the register process, ORNSIS is a collaborative of web application concept that provides a platform for University Malaysia Pahang administrator to monitor the progress of each new student who did the register online. It has been developed by using the PHP language, Dreamweaver cs4 and database MySQL in the Windows 7. By using ORNSIS, the actual number of student will register in university can be obtain, thus decrease the time-consuming in registration event.

Dual-decomposition (DD) methods are quickly becoming important tools for estimating the minimum energy state of a graphical model. DD methods decompose a complex model into a collection of simpler subproblems that can be solved exactly (such as trees), that in combination provide upper and lower bounds on the exact solution. Subproblem choice can play a major role: larger subproblems tend to improve the bound more per iteration, while smaller subproblems enable highly parallel solvers and can benefit from re-using past solutions when there are few changes between iterations. We propose an algorithm that can balance many of these aspects to speed up convergence. Our method uses a cluster tree data structure that has been proposed for adaptive exact inference tasks, and we apply it in this paper to dual-decomposition approximate inference. This approach allows us to process large subproblems to improve the bounds at each iteration, while allowing a high degree of parallelizability and taking advantage of subproblems with sparse updates. For both synthetic inputs and a real-world stereo matching problem, we demonstrate that our algorithm is able to achieve significant improvement in convergence time. Nowadays, the dental society is very successful since the technology they using are very modern and it bring many advantages to the dentist and patient such. Dental Measurement System (DEMS) has been developed as an educational software and technology to be used by the dentist or lecturer, in order to teach the dentistry student about the treatment of tooth decay in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) dental clinic . Through DEMS dentist can obtain accurate tooth decay data analysis compared to the traditional method. DEMS is the supporting system for IIUM dental clinic to computerize the traditional method to ensure the process of tooth decay image clearer. In addition, it provides the calibration and measurement to allow the staff and students IIUM to measure the tooth decay based on image. This system is developed by using the Visual C++ that integrated with OpenCV, which is the library that enable image processing techniques enhance the image.

In this paper, we develop a novel context-aware approach for quality of experience (QoE) modeling, reasoning and inferencing in mobile and pervasive computing environments. The proposed model is based upon a state-space approach and Bayesian networks for QoE modeling and reasoning. We further extend this context model to incorporate influence diagrams for efficient QoE inferencing. Our approach accommodates user, device and quality of service (QoS) related context parameters to determine the overall QoE of the user. This helps in user-related media, network and device adaptation. We perform experimentation to validate the proposed approach and the results verify its modeling and inferencing capabilities. © 2011 ACM.

This research reports on the construction of a demonstration platform for a passive ground-based primary radar station for monitoring aircraft. The key to the system is the use of existing satellite transmitters as illuminators for the radar system. This proposed system can provide accurate position and velocity measurements of aircraft or small unmanned aircraft at ranges of tens to hundreds of nautical miles away from the ground station. This station is a light-weight, low-cost, portable, and field-deployable option to supplement deficiencies in the National Airspace System (NAS) and homeland security surveillance networks. Potential applications include providing coverage in remote mountainous regions, low-altitude en-route primary radar coverage throughout the continental United States, and low-altitude interdiction efforts in coastal areas. As a field-deployable system, this could also be used to quickly restore primary radar coverage in the event that a disaster or terrorist event disables existing primary radars. Additionally, the portable and non-emitting nature of the radar permits use in a wide range of applications where emitting radars are unacceptable. Previous research in the area of passive radar has used terrestrial sources as illuminators since satellite sources have been traditionally viewed as too weak. What makes this research unique is that it takes specialized signal processing techniques typically used to detect objects in deep space for radio astronomy applications and applies them to the domain of terrestrial bistatic radar. The system has been constructed and characterization of system performance is in process.
