The paper analyzes harmonics of magnetic flux in air-gap, slot harmonics, spatial harmonics and temporal harmonics of the magneto-motive-force (MMF). The relationship between the rotor magnet loss and air-gap size is investigated by finite element method (FEM). The effects on magnet loss with different magnet segmentations are analyzed in detail.

Sparse controls for network spread dynamics are explored, in the context of a linearized model for infection spread in networks. Limits and comparisons are established on the control performance, which hold regardless of the type of controller used (centralized or decentralized, dynamic or static, linear or nonlinear). More refined characterizations are obtained for proportional decentralized controls. These control schemes are found to always reduce spread but may not be tailored to address the source of the spread and, in special instances, may surprisingly cause a more oscillatory response. Finally, switching controls that are cheap and effective are motivated and developed, using an illustrative example.

This paper addresses the controllability problem for a group of autonomous agents modeled by heterogeneous dynamics, where the communication network is directed and weighted. Two kinds of models for controllability of heterogeneous multi-agent systems are proposed. We show that the heterogeneous multi-agent system is controllable if the underlying communication topology is controllable. Furthermore, some necessary and/or sufficient conditions are derived for controllability from the algebraic and graphical perspectives. Finally, simulation example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

In order to improve the maximum power point tracking efficiency of photovoltaic generation system at sudden changes of weather conditions, an improved MPPT algorithm is proposed, which is developed from the main idea of perturb and observe(P&O) method and constant voltage method. When the temperature or irradiance changes, the proposed algorithm sets the operating point close to the new maximum power point by voltage compensation, then using the P&O method to make the system reach the new maximum power point. Meanwhile, a case study of photovoltaic(PV) system is established in the Matlab/Simulink, to show its better performance on stability and dynamic behavior, by comparing this algorithm with traditional P&O method.

Inter-femtocell interference becomes serious when femtocells are densely deployed. To mitigate the inter-femtocell interference, this paper proposes a cluster-based bandwidth allocation algorithm. We create femtocell clusters by constructing a weighted interference graph and allocate bandwidth to each cluster based on a Nash bargaining solution(NBS). Simulation results show that the cluster-based bandwidth allocation algorithm can reduce the inter-femtocell interference and meet the minimum rate constraint of each cluster.

Wind energy is one of the widely applied renewable energies in the world. Wind turbine as the main wind energy converter at present has very complex technical system containing a huge number of components,actuators and sensors. However, despite of the hardware redundancy, sensor faults have often affected the wind turbine normal operation and thus caused energy generation loss. In this paper, aiming at the wind turbine hydraulic pitch system, data-driven design of process monitoring(PM) and diagnosis has been realized in the wind turbine benchmark. Fault tolerant control(FTC) strategies focused on sensor faults have also been presented here, where with the implementation of soft sensor the sensor fault can be handled and the performance of the system is improved. The performance of this method is demonstrated with the wind turbine benchmark provided by Math Works.
