Due to rapid 3D acquisition advancements, LiDAR point clouds are prevalent in emerging applications like heritage preservation, mobile robotics, and remote sensing. Yet, the sheer data volume poses challenges for transmission and storage, especially in autonomous driving. This paper introduces an efficient coding framework for compressing large dense LiDAR point cloud maps. By recording timestamps and quaternion matrices during map construction, we reduce map compression to sequence compression. The scans are segregated into intra-frames and inter-frames. For intra-frames, a quadric surface fitting intra-prediction technique eliminates spatial redundancy. For inter-frames, by constructing the 3D scene using encoded intra-frames, the inter-frame can be simulated according to its posture and LiDAR intrinsic parameters. Coding focuses on the difference between actual and predicted point cloud data. Decoding reverses this process, reconstructing the point cloud map from the decoded sequence and quaternion matrices. KITTI dataset experiments show the point cloud map can be averagely compressed to 3.43% of its original size while maintaining centimeter-level precision. This outperforms both octree and Google Draco methods. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents an alternative approach to reduce the switching frequency in switching elements within power electronic converters. The aim is to address the challenges of conventional semiconductor devices in high-frequency switching, such as switch transition times and high-frequency pulse generation. With the proposed configuration, the semiconductor switch components and pulse generator operate at a lower frequency than the output frequency of the converter. Simulations to verify the approach will be conducted using PLECS software. © 2023 IEEE.

In response to the problem of poor detection performance of the traditional Sobel operator in edge detection, a high-precision edge detection algorithm based on Sobel operator-assisted Holistically-nested Edge Detection (HED) network was proposed, which is named ISAHED here. The algorithm is designed as follows. Firstly, an improved Sobel operator based on the traditional Sobel operator was proposed through adding gradient direction. Then, the image output by the improved Sobel operator is taken as the ground-truth image and as the end-to-end comparison object in a HED-like network. Finally, the ISAHED algorithm outputs edge images with better quality through iterative learning of the HED-like neural network. The experimental results prove that the proposed ISAHED algorithm has better edge detection performance by visually observing the final edge images and further evaluating the values of FOM. This work provides an important reference for the further development of the edge detection technology. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of a computational methodology to determine input characteristics correlated with solar power generation. Solar power can be influenced by several factors, such as dirt accumulation on the panels, temperature, irradiation, and location, which may reduce the energy generation capability. Our objective is to quantify losses in photovoltaic power generation due to dirt on the panels using a computational method that analyzes the most correlated input features with solar power generation. Data was collected from a meteorological station and a photovoltaic system located at the Federal Institute of Espirito Santo, Serra campus, Brazil, to develop a dataset. This dataset was then utilized by the computational method to ascertain the most correlated features. Consequently, we were able to evaluate the impact of dirt both when the panels were dirty and after cleaning them. We analyzed the effect of six years of dirt accumulation before cleaning the panels. Following the feature correlation analyses, we opted to use the average solar radiation and temperature readings from the LPNET14 sensor, infrared radiation, and relative humidity to study the dirt's impact. As a result, we determined that cleaning the panels led to a 4.01% increase in the system's power output.

With the rapid development of urban subway system in recent years, the failure of subway traction network has become a research hotspot. In order to ensure the reliability of the subway power supply, better study the fault characteristics, provide close to the real subway short circuit current, study the action characteristics of the subway high voltage DC circuit breaker under the fault current, design a simulation device based on phase shift full bridge that can generate the subway short circuit current, by controlling the amplitude, frequency, initial phase angle of the input waveform, so that the corresponding waveform can be generated. And it is verified by experiments. The experimental results show that the output has the characteristics of good dynamic response and small error. Considering that the sensor is affected by the interference noise such as the environment, the Luenberger observer is added to optimize the device control algorithm reasonably. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Heavy trucks play a crucial role in shaping highway traffic dynamics. Their slower speed and unique acceleration and deceleration patterns can greatly influence the efficiency and stability of mixed traffic streams. This study explores a traffic scenario involving both heavy trucks and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs), presenting an innovative model for mixed traffic flow and establishing specific lane-changing protocols for autonomous vehicles. Utilizing numerical simulations and comparative analyses, the research explores how heavy trucks affect traffic speed and lane-changing dynamics across different levels of CAV integration and varying traffic conditions. The findings of the study indicate that with lower rates of CAV penetration, increased traffic flow heightens the frequency of vehicle interactions, resulting in more pronounced variations in traffic speed. Conversely, when CAV penetration rates are elevated, there is a marked improvement in average traffic speed, alongside a significant reduction in speed fluctuations, particularly in high-density traffic situations. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Recognition of the gangue from the coal is an essential step in automatic coal *** solve the indistinguishability of coal and gangue in the low-dimensional color space,a kernel support vector machine(KSVM) model based on color names(CN) is proposed in this ***,the CN is used to map the original RGB image into a high-dimensional color *** provides eleven color channels for description of the *** use of the principal component analysis(PCA),two fundamental dimensional elements are selected to construct the principal color ***,through the combination with the gray component,an expanded color model with three channels is generated for the coal and gauge image with a higher contrast between the coal and gangue than the low-dimensional color ***,a screening mapping matrix is used to extract the contributing components of the gangue *** so-called Mask-CN color model is derived thereafter capable of determining the gangue candidate ***,six contributing features based on gray color histogram and gray-level co-occurrence matrix are selected and the SVM algorithm is adopted to realize the coal and gangue *** experimental results show that the proposed method has provided a satisfactory recognition accuracy up to 97.79%.It shows a strong robustness to diverse background conditions.

In order to solve the fatigue problem of offshore floating photovoltaic direct current(DC) cable between floating blocks under the influence of wave motion, this paper proposes a method to evaluate the fatigue life of DC cable. On the basis of analyzing the fatigue damage mechanism of the DC cable, usingthe service life of the DC cable is accurately predicted by using the stress prediction method with the COMSOL finite element simulation software. By simulating stress conditions under different working conditions, the results show that: The fatigue life of DC cable across floating blocks is negatively correlated with the maximum equivalent stress, and the life decreases with the increase of displacement degree. The dangerous point of cable fatigue is near the fixed point at both ends of the cable. At the same time, the influence of different suspension lengths on the cable fatigue life is analyzed by simulation. The simulation results provide a useful design reference for optimizing cable layout and improving its service life. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd. 2025.
