When it comes to the virtual machine tool assembly process, there are problems such as assembly errors. Based on the general idea of correct assembly, it is proposed to innovate the assembly process by utilizing the enclosing box and separating axis theorem and GJK algorithm, so as to monitor the state of the detection process, which verifies the effective feasibility of the monitoring method and provides a new idea for the assembly process of virtual CNC machine tools. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Marine autonomy research has focused on al-gorithmic and technical developments, targeting autonomous craft in restricted areas where international rules and regu-lations are not prioritised. This paper addresses the system engineering aspect of a highly complex system in which the seamless, predictable, and secure interoperability of vendor-specific hardware and software subsystems is a fundamental requirement for designing and implementing cyber-physical systems with artificial intelligence to assist or replace the navigating officer, such as autonomous marine surface vehicles. It addresses international rules in the sector and exhibits a system architecture that can fulfil the criteria for safe behaviour in foreseen occurrences and the capacity to request human aid if the autonomous system cannot manage a problem. The system thinking and engineering provided in this article have been applied to The GreenHopper, a harbour bus currently under construction and intended to undergo certification and enter commercial service. © 2022 University of Split, FESB.

In view of the problems of excessive parameter setting and large calculation of YOLOv7 in pedestrian object detection in complex street scenarios, this paper proposes a lightweight method to improve YOLOv7 algorithm. Under the YOLOv7 framework, Partial Convolution (PConv) is integrated into the convolution of the original algorithm, replacing part of the convolution in the original convolution layer, and the SEAttention attention module is introduced to ensure the detection accuracy of the lightweight algorithm. The experimental results on the home-made data set show that, compared with the original YOLOv7 algorithm, the number of model parameters decreased by 11.0% in the improved YOLOv7 algorithm, and the algorithm calculation volume decreased by 19.4%, while ensuring the high accuracy of the original YOLOv7 algorithm. In this paper, the algorithm reduces the number of parameters and calculations, and achieves the balance of lightweight and accuracy. © 2024 SPIE.

A not stable mechanical movement transmission between systems produces equilibrium losses, such as a rotor of motors that are coupled in rotating machines. This can be studied as a disturbance "vibration" either as characteristic of the movement transmission due to controlled displacement over rotors, which transmits the movement. Therefore, in this research is presented an analysis for an optimal control of the rotor axis displacement that includes "vibration" as the part of the movement transmission. It implies mathematical modelling and specific sensors selections to correlate the vibration in this control task. Furthermore, in order to verify the proposed analysis, it was simulated and tested in a hybrid magnetic bearing system. © 2022, European Association for the Development of Renewable Energy, Environment and Power Quality (EA4EPQ). This article presents the development of electric motor torque meter using microcontroller together with dynamometer process and application of light process to find out revolutions per minute (RPM) which torque is a variable that affects the effectiveness of electrical machine. A torque meter is, therefore, a tool that has an important role to work with mechanical part. The torque meter and RPM was tested and found that there is an error of torque measure at 13.74 percent and found that the torque has higher errors when it exceeds 2 N-m and there is an error of RPM at 5.36 percent.

This article details a magnetic positioning system using a genetic algorithm-optimized BPNN. The hardware includes a control module with an Arduino Mega 2560, a data collection module using Honeywell HMC5883L magnetometers for XYZ magnetic data, and a communication module integrating I2C via TCA9548A for sensor connections. The BPNN and genetic algorithm principles are combined in MATLAB to optimize weights and biases. Results show the system converges faster, predicts coordinates closer to actual values, and improves accuracy and robustness across environments, enhancing overall system performance and stability. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to rapid 3D acquisition advancements, LiDAR point clouds are prevalent in emerging applications like heritage preservation, mobile robotics, and remote sensing. Yet, the sheer data volume poses challenges for transmission and storage, especially in autonomous driving. This paper introduces an efficient coding framework for compressing large dense LiDAR point cloud maps. By recording timestamps and quaternion matrices during map construction, we reduce map compression to sequence compression. The scans are segregated into intra-frames and inter-frames. For intra-frames, a quadric surface fitting intra-prediction technique eliminates spatial redundancy. For inter-frames, by constructing the 3D scene using encoded intra-frames, the inter-frame can be simulated according to its posture and LiDAR intrinsic parameters. Coding focuses on the difference between actual and predicted point cloud data. Decoding reverses this process, reconstructing the point cloud map from the decoded sequence and quaternion matrices. KITTI dataset experiments show the point cloud map can be averagely compressed to 3.43% of its original size while maintaining centimeter-level precision. This outperforms both octree and Google Draco methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Object pose estimation enables a variety of tasks in computer vision and robotics, including scene understanding and robotic grasping. The complexity of a pose estimation task depends on the unknown variables related to the target object. While instance-level methods already excel for opaque and Lambertian objects, category-level and open-set methods, where texture, shape, and size are partially or entirely unknown, still struggle with these basic material properties. Since texture is unknown in these scenarios, it cannot be used for disambiguating object symmetries, another core challenge of 6D object pose estimation. The complexity of estimating 6D poses with such a manifold of unknowns led to various datasets, accuracy metrics, and algorithmic solutions. This paper compares datasets, accuracy metrics, and algorithms for solving 6D pose estimation on the category-level. Based on this comparison, we analyze how to bridge category-level and open-set object pose estimation to reach generalization and provide actionable recommendations. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. This article presents an alternative approach to reduce the switching frequency in switching elements within power electronic converters. The aim is to address the challenges of conventional semiconductor devices in high-frequency switching, such as switch transition times and high-frequency pulse generation. With the proposed configuration, the semiconductor switch components and pulse generator operate at a lower frequency than the output frequency of the converter. Simulations to verify the approach will be conducted using PLECS software. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of a computational methodology to determine input characteristics correlated with solar power generation. Solar power can be influenced by several factors, such as dirt accumulation on the panels, temperature, irradiation, and location, which may reduce the energy generation capability. Our objective is to quantify losses in photovoltaic power generation due to dirt on the panels using a computational method that analyzes the most correlated input features with solar power generation. Data was collected from a meteorological station and a photovoltaic system located at the Federal Institute of Espirito Santo, Serra campus, Brazil, to develop a dataset. This dataset was then utilized by the computational method to ascertain the most correlated features. Consequently, we were able to evaluate the impact of dirt both when the panels were dirty and after cleaning them. We analyzed the effect of six years of dirt accumulation before cleaning the panels. Following the feature correlation analyses, we opted to use the average solar radiation and temperature readings from the LPNET14 sensor, infrared radiation, and relative humidity to study the dirt's impact. As a result, we determined that cleaning the panels led to a 4.01% increase in the system's power output.
