The aim of this paper is to present a method for estimation of parametric faults in closed-loop systems. The key technology applied in this paper is coprime factorization of both the dynamic system as well as the feedback controller. Using the Youla-Jabr-Bongiorno-Kucera (YJBK) parameterization, it is shown that a certain matrix transfer function, the fault signature matrix, is an LFT (linear fractional transformation) of the parametric faults. Further, for limit parametric faults, the fault signature matrix transfer function can be approximated with a linear matrix function of the parametric faults.

Compared with speed sensor vector control, traditional speed sensor-less vector control has many advantages, such as lower cost, higher reliability. But it also has many shortcomings at low speed, such as a lowly accurate speed, weak load capability. The above shortcomings partly block the large-scale application of speed sensor-less vector control. The fundamental reason is that most of traditional flux observation methods depend on the voltage model and EMF. In this paper, the traditional arithmetic of speed sensor-less vector control is improved. It abandons the voltage model to improve low speed performance, so it can be used in different working conditions.

A novel hovering control methodology for a stratospheric airship is presented by using path following approach in the presence of unknown wind. First, the dynamic model of the airship used for controller design is introduced. Then, the hovering control is transformed into the path following control by expressing the wind field in the state equation, which avoids the difficulty of guaranteeing system stability in strong wind for other stabilization methods. The designed control system finally possesses a cascaded structure which consists of a guidance loop, an attitude control loop and a velocity control loop. An observer is proposed based on the vehicle kinematics to estimate the unknown wind field. Stability analysis shows that the controlled closed-loop system is globally asymptotically stable and the sway velocity which cannot be directly controlled converges to zero. Simulation results for the stratospheric airship to hovering in a certain position are illustrated to verify effectiveness of the proposed method.
