Real-time social interactions and multi-streaming are two critical features of live streaming services. In this paper, we formulate a new fundamental service query, Social-aware Diverse and Preferred Organization Query (SDSQ), that jointly selects a set of diverse and preferred live streaming channels and a group of socially tight viewers for organization of a live multi-streaming soiree. We prove that SDSQ is NP-hard and inapproximable within any factor, and design SDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm with a guaranteed error bound. Moreover, we study SDSQ-T, a special case of SDSQ, where the social graph is a threshold graph, and propose TDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm without any error to SDSQ-T. We propose two pruning strategies, PCP and CDP to boost SDSSel and TDSSel. We further propose a more challenging but practical service query, Generalized Social-aware Maximum Preferred and Diverse Query (GSPQ), a generalization of SDSQ. We design GPDSel, a 4-approximation algorithm for GSPQ with a guaranteed error bound. We propose a strategy to improve the approximation ratios of the proposed algorithms. A user study on Twitch validates SDSQ, and the large-scale experiments on real datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithms over several baselines for live-streaming services. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Multi-robot systems can provide substantial increase in efficiency and/or flexibility in different scenarios. Applications in various settings have been studied in the literature, such as disaster management, surveillance, object transportation as well as search-and-rescue. A particular case that can highly benefit from the employment of multiple agents is the logistics in a warehouse scenario. This work proposes an multi-agent Q-learning based algorithm with curriculum learning and transfer learning to perform the path planning process. With progressively more complex stages of training as well as knowledge transfer from one stage to another, the algorithm is capable of achieve high success rates. In order to validate the proposed method, simulations were done to compare it to other combinations of the used techniques, as well as using Q-learning only. Scalability tests were also performed. The proposed method achieved up to 94% success rate after training. © 2023 IEEE.

This research-to-practice paper describes developing and analyzing state-of-the-art smart boots created by combining CAD technology and advanced 3D printing techniques to attract students in bio-engineering and related fields. The primary objective of this innovative immobilization boot is to expedite fracture recovery phases through an ergonomic design to ensure optimal patient comfort during its use. Technological solutions are crucial in aiding the rehabilitation process for fractures caused by falls, heavy lifting, or rotational trauma. However, cost and comfort-related issues persist, underscoring the need for alternative approaches. This research addresses these challenges and delves into the broader implications of fracture treatment, catalyzing future projects and investigations in bioengineering. Additionally, this study serves as an educational tool that sparks the interest of high school and engineering students, promoting multidisciplinary collaboration in innovation. By involving students in specialized courses covering 3D design, human bone anatomy, biology, and materials science, this initiative empowers them to deepen their knowledge and develop new technologies to address bone injury problems. Material analyses include evaluating the type of material depending on the fracture site, such as PLA for printing and cotton and silicone gel for the midsection between the splint and the body. This research aims to advance our understanding of the type of fracture, the methods associated with their treatment, and tissue repair processes during bone callus formation. To summarize, this multidisciplinary approach drives advancements in bio-engineering and related fields, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and inspire students to pursue further research in bio-engineering and related fields. Amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (a-IGZO)-based thin film transistors (TFTs) are increasingly becoming popular because of their potential in futuristic applications, including CMOS technology. Given the demand for CMOS-compatible, ultra-scaled, reliable, and high-performing devices, we fabricate and analyze scaled-channel a-IGZO-TFTs with an optimal double-gate structure, a thin nanosheet-based channel, and an effective high- κ dielectric namely HfO2. The reliably reported double gate IGZO nanosheet TFTs (DG-IGZO-NS-TFTs) are tested under positive and negative bias stress at variant temperatures, and the resulting modulations are analyzed critically. The reported DG-IGZO-NSTFTs exhibit a negative side threshold voltage shift (Δ Vth) accompanied by an increase in Ion/Ion(0) under negative bias temperature stress (NBTS) at elevated temperatures, which indicates the presence of additional charges. An anomalous negative side shifting of the Vth is observed under positive bias temperature stress (PBTS), where diffused hydrogen atoms are identified as introducing excess n-type carriers into the channel and causing the observed Δ Vth. The spectroscopic analysis is performed to establish evidence for the assumed mechanisms, and the role of individual gates is investigated in the context of performance variance under temperature-bias stress. Moreover, the partial reversibility of the stress-induced degradation is experimentally established and methodically discussed. Overall, the reported results offer a comprehensive understanding of scaled-channel DG-NS-IGZO-TFTs, which help shape performance-enhancement strategies, control degradation mechanisms, and define appropriate application scenarios. © 2013 IEEE.

Batik is an Indonesian world cultural heritage. Batik consists of many kinds of patterns depending on where the batik comes from, Batik-making techniques continue to develop along with technology development. Among the batik making techniques that are widely used are hand-written, stamping, and printing. Batik motifs have been widely used as research material, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The diverse appearance of batik motifs has attracted many researchers to carry out research on making synthetic batik patterns, one of which uses a Generative Adversarial Network. This paper presents a synthetic batik pattern model based on the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty. This model has been proven to create new synthetic batik patterns quite well and almost identical with images provided in the dataset, with the notes if the dataset provided is large. © 2023 IEEE.

Each group in a data-driven automobile network has its cluster head. A group can communicate with each other and members of other groups once it has been founded. Vehicles belonging to each group near the other group allow intergroup communication. Because nodes in automotive networks move so quickly, routing in these networks is a complex problem to solve. Each cluster in hierarchical clustering can be partitioned into multiple sub-clusters. Put another way, and the data is stored in a cluster, which is then divided into more clusters. The data is stored directly in separate clusters in non-hierarchical approaches. A dendrogram is a type of hierarchical tree. We anticipate increasing information sharing in clusters by properly clustering vehicles on the road and establishing clusters of the desired size in the relevant dendrogram. We can select clusters of the necessary extent and compare the Quality of Service (QoS) network's outcomes by breaking the dendrogram at different levels. The findings reveal that the suggested method outperforms AIVISN in delay, PDR, overhead, and Drooped packets compared to AIVISN, 7.12%, 12.21%,8.32%, and 7.34%, respectively. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Read mapping is a critical bottleneck in genome sequence analysis, requiring costly approximate string matching to identify potential matches between reads and a reference genome. Pre-alignment filtering methods aim to mitigate this issue by filtering out unnecessary mapping locations, and implementing them with processing-in-memory (PIM) approaches offers potential benefits by offloading filtering from the computing unit. However, the sparse number of potential mapping locations for each read limits the utilization of PIM's parallel computing capabilities, thereby hindering the overlapping of filtering and sequence alignment to hide filtering latency overheads. In this paper, we propose a 3D NAND-based in-storage pre-alignment filtering approach. Leveraging the read depth property, we introduce a read-centric pre-alignment filtering method that enables parallel comparison of multiple reads. We co-design software and hardware for in-situ processing of read-centric pre-alignment filtering within the storage, capitalizing on 3D NAND Flash's approximate parallel search capability. When integrating with a representative read mapping accelerator, our design achieves an average 1.36x performance improvement with comparable energy consumption. Compared to the state-of-the-art (SOTA) PIM solution, our design results in 123.8x and 53.3x performance gain and energy efficiency improvement. © 2025 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). A vehicle has a license plate and can be identified by the license number attached to the vehicle plate. For detection and recognition, multimedia sensors can be used so that it requires a vehicle tracking application that has a vehicle monitoring function and has implications for various fields. One of them is a multimedia sensor that requires an optimal design and method in the form of the number of multimedia sensors to be used, the placement of the multimedia sensor positions and solutions in the event of a system failure. To achieve multimedia sensor performance, research on multimedia sensors is carried out using a camera type with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology which is similar to a pair of right and left eyes to see an object. The objects detected were 2 cars, where the car passed the camera sensor at a speed of 10-15 km/hour 20 times. Changes in the distance of the vehicle to the camera affect the disparity value and the object's accuracy value, namely and the object's Accuracy value of the minimum disparity value of 6.20×106 of 16.88×109. © 2022 ACM.

Correlating the Ambient Conditions and Performance Indicators of the LoRaWAN via Surrogate Gaussian Process-Based Bidirectional LSTM Stacked Autoencoder

LoRa's biggest advantage is its flexibility, which is the ability to increase or decrease data rate and range while decreasing or increasing sensitivity. Whenever propagation conditions change frequently, this function allows the spreading factor to be modified accordingly. Despite their efficiency and scalability, adaptive data rate algorithms ignore and fail to factor in the complex correlation between ambient weather parameters influencing the communication channel design. In this research, a Bayesian surrogate Gaussian process-based bidirectional LSTM stacked autoencoder model (BSGP-BLSTM-SAE) is proposed to estimate the channel performance indicators such as received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and to determine the correlation between the ambient weather conditions and performance indicators for the LoRaWAN network. Bayesian optimization algorithm has been used to optimize the hyper-parameters of the developed model. A LoRaWAN experimental multivariate time series dataset has been used for the evaluation of the developed model, which upon testing and validation produces high accuracy in predicting the channel performance indicators and ambient conditions of the experimental LoRaWAN network. The mean absolute error of the developed model was around 0.45. Thus, the proposed model can predict the link performance indicators and thereby assist in real-time optimization of the transmission parameters to enhance the network performance in LoRaWAN-based systems at different ambient conditions. © 2004-2012 IEEE.
