Automatic emotion recognition using deep neural network

Emotions are a vital semantic part of human correspondence. Emotions are significant for human correspondence as well as basic for human–computer cooperation. Viable correspondence between people is possibly achieved when both the importance and the emotion of the correspondence are perceived by all groups included. Understanding the significance of language has generally been concentrated on in natural language processing (NLP) as a semantic examination. In NLP, the text can be handled appropriately for classification. Emotion detection from facial emotion is the subfield of social signal processing applied in a wide assortment of regions, explicitly for human and PC collaboration. Many researchers have proposed various approaches, generally utilizing machine learning concepts. Automatic emotion recognition (AER) is significant for working with consistent intuitiveness between a person and a smart device toward fully acknowledging an intelligent society. Many researchers examined cross-lingual and multilingual speech emotion as a stage toward language-free emotion acknowledgment in natural speech. In the present work, we are proposing a deep learning-based AER system using four openly accessible datasets, namely Basic Arabic Vocal Emotions Dataset (BAVED), Acted Emotional Speech Dynamic Database (AESDD), Urdu written in Latin/Roman Script (URDU), and Toronto Emotional Speech Set (TESS), by utilizing the Jupyter notebook and a Python library for music and audio synthesis named Librosa. The experimental results exhibited that the proposed approach achieves better than the existing approaches, i.e., the accuracy of the proposed system with the URDU dataset is 96.24%, the TESS dataset is 99.10%, the AESDD dataset is 65.97%, and the BAVED dataset is 73.12%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

We address the problem of event-triggered networked control of nonlinear systems under simultaneous deception and Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. By DoS attacks, we refer to disruptions in the communication channel that prevent sensor measurements from reaching the controller. When the system undergoes a deception attack, the controller receives a modified output, deviating from the sensor's original measurement. We implement the input delay approach and the Lyapunov-Krasovskii technique to obtain sufficient conditions, expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), that characterize the duration of the DoS interruptions under which input-to-state stability (ISS) of the closed-loop system is preserved. Furthermore, we explore scenarios involving simultaneous attacks, where the DoS is modeled as a stochastic Bernoulli process. The closed-loop system is then considered as a stochastic impulsive system. In a similar manner, we derive conditions to ensure mean-square ISS for this case. A numerical example illustrates the efficiency of the results. © 2024 IEEE.

Photonic integrated switches that are both space and wavelength selective are a highly promising technology for data-intensive applications as they benefit from multi-dimensional manipulation of optical ***,scaling these switches normally poses stringent challenges such as increased fabrication complexity and control difficulties,due to the growing number of switching *** this work,we propose a new type of dilated crosspoint topology,which efficiently handles both space and wavelength selective switching,while reducing the required switching element count by an order of magnitude compared to reported *** the best of our knowledge,our design requires the fewest switching elements for an equivalent routing paths number and it fully cancels the first-order in-band *** demonstrate such an ultra-compact space-and-wavelength selective switch(SWSS)at a scale of 4×4×4λ on the silicon-on-insulator(SOI)*** results reveal that the switch achieves an insertion loss ranging from 2.3 dB to 8.6 dB and crosstalk levels in between-35.3 dB and-59.7 *** add-drop microring-resonators(MRRs)are equipped with micro-heaters,exhibiting a rise and fall time of 46 μs and 0.33 μs,*** performance characteristics highlight the switch's ultra-low element count and crosstalk with low insertion loss,making it a promising candidate for advanced data center applications.

The prominent trend in wind turbine technology centers on the adoption of direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generators (DD-PMSG), a choice driven by their capacity to deliver superior efficiency through the elimination of *** paper presents a comprehensive exploration of the design, modeling, and control aspects of a DD-PMSG intended for harnessing wind energy conversion. Initially, the geometrical design of the generator is meticulously carried out, adhering to predefined technical specifications and constraints. Subsequently, an in-depth internal modeling, focusing on the electromagnetic behavior of the designed generator, is executed using finite element analysis (FEA) through the Ansys Maxwell RMXpert software. Finally, the external modeling and control system integration of the designed generator, connected to the grid through power electronic converters, are simulated using the Matlab/Simulink software suite. The resulting findings underscore the efficacy and viability of the proposed generator for wind turbine applications, affirming its potential to enhance wind energy conversion systems. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The Three-Dimensional Interferometric Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging (3D InISAR) method tackles the interpretability challenges associated with two-dimensional ISAR. It achieves this by providing a 3D representation of the target, offering a more comprehensive understanding of its shape and features. However, this approach faces challenges related to interferometric measurement ambiguity, especially in operational scenarios where factors such as target type and range of the target come into play. Conventional methods for interferogram unwrapping used in Interferometric SAR systems for topographic mapping cannot be directly applied to man-made objects in ISAR due to the discrete nature of ISAR imaging, which violates the assumption of spatial continuity. To address these issues, various multi-receiver solutions have been proposed in the literature. This paper introduces a different approach: a maximum likelihood-based dual-frequency technique applied to 3D InISAR imaging. Leveraging the frequency diversity inherent in a wideband receiver and utilizing two non-overlapping sub-bandwidths, this method effectively resolves measurement ambiguity. Testing the method in a simulated scenarios highlights the enhanced reconstruction abilities of the method and the benefits of utilizing extended physical baselines. © 2023 IEEE.

Human falls occur rarely;however, they can lead to severe consequences if not addressed immediately. With the rise of nuclear families, there has been a significant increase in the risk of unnoticed falls leading to even death. Therefore, an efficient fall monitoring system is essential for prompt assistance and minimizing fall risks. Several strategies have been proposed with technological advancements, and some devices are already available on the market. Among the proposed systems, radar technology has emerged as a state-of-the-art noninvasive technique due to its attractive and unique features, such as the ability to operate under occlusion, dirt, and fog without compromising the person’s privacy. This paper presents a systematic review of a state-of-the-art fall detection system based on radar technology. While various reviews on fall-related technologies exist, none specifically focus on radar-based systems. To our knowledge, we are the first to provide a review in such detail of state-of-the-art radar sensor-based fall detection. We comprehensively outline the radar-based fall monitoring system and the corresponding data processing techniques. Finally, we conclude our paper by discussing current trends, future research direction and challenges in this research field. The development of new products and services allows railway transport to constantly increase the fleet of specialised wagons, which, in comparison with the universal rolling stock, have the best technical and economic indicators. A significant part of cars is delivered by railways, and it is economically reasonable to transport them on a specialised rolling stock. In this regard, the development of a methodology for refined theoretical studies of the strength of bodies of a double-deck rolling stock for passenger cars transportation, the choice of appropriate design schemes and parameters of the bodies, the analysis of the frequencies and forms of their natural oscillations, taking into account the finite stiffness of the elements, are urgent research tasks. The research uses the methods of structural mechanics of rod systems, the applied theory of elasticity, and discrete masses. A wide range of frequencies and forms of the natural free oscillations was obtained using the discrete mass method for a structural scheme with load transfer from the upper to the lower level of the wagon with the help of four racks. The applied methodology of theoretical determination of frequencies and forms of the natural free oscillations of the car transporter wagon by the method of discrete masses is effective. It allows for the estimation of the dynamic characteristics of the wagon. © The Author(s) 2024.

Rectification and converter control of the FPSLGs for energy storage applications

This article presents two power converters with controllers attached to the Free-Piston Stirling Linear Generator (FPSLG) and energy storage system (ESS). The rectifier uses hysteresis-SVPWM current regulation and CB-SPWM, while the buck-boost converter utilizes the dual-loop PI control method. The storage battery receives energy from a linear-generator with a rectifier and converter. The FPSE and linear motors in the FPSLG convert thermal to electrical energy. A two-level electrical energy conversion technique using a three-phase AC signal to DC and DC-DC converter has been devised to reduce output electrical energy oscillation as well as stabilize the generating system's DC power. Initially, the FPSE's nonlinear model and the three-phase permanent magnet linear-motor's linear mathematical model were created and followed by the ESS and control mechanism simulation. The simulation shows that the ESS system and control approach can give stable power to the storage battery using linear-generator power. The PR controller replaces the PI controller in the position loop to improve frequency and displacement tracing. The control system design was simulated in MATLAB and the topology's feasibility and correctness were confirmed. Comparative analysis shows that, rectifier uses the H-SVPWM's unity power factor of AC and stability controllability of the DC-side voltage is better than the CB-SPWM approach. © 2024 The Author(s). Wheat field fires pose a significant threat to wildlife habitats, agricultural resources, and especially farmer incomes. The frequency of these fires has increased noticeably in recent years, likely due to human activity in agricultural areas and the exacerbating effects of climate change. Rapid action is crucial once smoke is detected, as it marks the first step in early fire detection. To address this challenge, we propose an enhanced CNN model specifically designed to identify smoke in wheat field fires. As part of this approach, a dataset of 3900 UAV images was compiled to depict smoke from wheat field fires. The proposed work also integrates the CBAM into the CNN to improve the model's ability to extract features for smoke patch characteristics of wheat field fires. Furthermore, the CNN architecture includes decoupled heads to extract relevant data from various sources. Testing on our wheat field fire smoke dataset has demonstrated the effectiveness of this proposed method, achieving an accuracy of up to 0.91 and outperforming the previous model. © 2024 IEEE.
