Humanoid robots, which are made to resemble people, are essential for helping people with a variety of jobs. By creating a system that enables a humanoid robot to adjust its gaze to significant locations in its surroundings utilizing both aural and visual inputs, our goal in this work is to improve human-robot interaction. To develop a system that effectively blends acoustic and visual information, we take inspiration from disciplines such as human-computer interaction, machine learning, and neuroscience. Our method uses a neural network type of computer program to create a "map" that highlights important places depending on what the robot sees and hears. The robot's eyes follow this map to determine where to gaze. To assess how well our system performs. Through this research, our goal is to improve human-robot interaction and collaboration, resulting in more seamless and productive exchanges. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2025.

Retinal imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosing ocular and systemic disorders by analyzing abnormalities in retinal blood vessels. Numerous diagnostic parameters, such as vascular caliber, centerline pixels, vessel bifurcation, arteriolar constriction, and color reflections, have been explored using machine learning and deep learning approaches for artery-vein classification. While these methods have demonstrated high-performance outcomes, limited research has investigated alternative approaches to identify optimal features for artery-vein classification. This study addresses this gap by evaluating nine color features using a wrapper method across three benchmark datasets: DRIVE, HRF, and VICA VR. The DRIVE dataset achieved the best classification performance, with an Area Under the Curve of 91.49%, accuracy of 83.10%, sensitivity of 84.68%, and specificity of 81.47%. Among the features studied, the Chrominance-Blue (Cb) and Chrominance-Red (Cr) components emerged as the most influential. These findings underscore the critical role of color features in enhancing artery-vein classification. They provide a foundation for further research into feature optimization, potentially improving diagnostic tools for retinal and systematic diseases. © 2025 IEEE.

Intravenous (IV) therapy is a critical component of modern healthcare, yet traditional IV systems are prone to human errors, manual adjustments, and limited monitoring capabilities, which can jeopardize patient safety and hinder healthcare efficiency. This paper presents the development of the Smartdrip IV Infusion System, a sophisticated and automated solution that integrates advanced sensors, control algorithms, and intuitive user interfaces to address these limitations. The Smartdrip system minimizes human intervention, provides real-time monitoring, and automates fluid administration with enhanced precision and safety features. The system demonstrates high reliability through simulation and prototype testing in detecting anomalies, issuing alerts, and ensuring accurate infusion rates, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare provider workload. The results validate the Smartdrip system as a transformative approach to optimizing IV therapy in diverse clinical settings. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper presents the implementation of a Switched Capacitor Power Amplifier (SCPA) to be integrated into a Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) Transceiver. The SCPA is designed to operate at a frequency of 0.9GHz and aiming the maximum output power allowed by the standard of 23dBm. All the blocks within the SCPA were developed using RF components of a standard 130nm CMOS process, with a 1.2V/2.4V supply voltage. Results show that the SCPA is able to produce a maximum output power of 15.61dBm with a maximum Power-Added Efficiency (PAE) of 26.52% and a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 0.68%. The measured HD2 and HD3 are-70.23dBc and-43.41dBc, respectively. Additional Process, Voltage and Temperature (PVT) corners and Monte Carlo simulations indicate the SCPA operates properly when subject to different conditions and mismatches. Besides the SCPA, a 16 QAM modulation stage is designed in VerilogA in order to evaluate the performance of the RF PA when a sequence of symbols is transmitted. © 2023 IEEE.

A humanoid robot is being designed capable of integrating audio-video signal. To develop a model for sound source localization in humanoid robot. Two USB Sound Card microphones are used for sound acquisition and two cameras are used for object detection. A Raspberry-pi is used as a central unit for image processing and sound source localization. When the video data comes from cameras, it is displayed on the screen in frames, and its image processing is being done in parallel. When the required objects image processing and detection is done, then it came to the tracking process. To track the detected object the centre position is defined and in code the error is defined that the quantity of error is encountered by adjusting the positions of servos. A PWM model had adopted for precise and accurate results. The results shows that when the red object came in front of camera a green rectangle is formed around it and a vertical line a centre, when the object moves the green line moves along the object, due to the movement of green line away from the centre position the servos position is changed to make the green vertical line came to its origin. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2025.

We introduce a novel differentially private algorithm for online federated learning that employs temporally correlated noise to enhance utility while ensuring privacy of continuously released models. To address challenges posed by DP noise and local updates with streaming non-iid data, we develop a perturbed iterate analysis to control the impact of the DP noise on the utility. Moreover, we demonstrate how the drift errors from local updates can be effectively managed under a quasi-strong convexity condition. Subject to an (, δ) DP budget, we establish a dynamic regret bound over the entire time horizon, quantifying the impact of key parameters and the intensity of changes in dynamic environments. Numerical experiments confirm the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Object segmentation is one of the main activities for the robot to create a sense of its environment. This task is a precursor to other activities, such as autonomous navigation in a given environment. Through sensors such as LiDAR, it's possible to generate high-resolution three-dimensional maps of the environment in which the robot is located, thus enabling their interpretation so that tasks such as object segmentation can be performed. In this article, the DBSCAN and HDBSCAN unsupervised clustering methods are explored. Results in a simulated environment in Gazebo together with Robot Operating System ROS framework for capturing sensory data from LiDAR Livox Mid-70 coupled to a mobile robot show the performance of such techniques through comparisons. © 2025 IEEE.

The integration of edge controllers into smart grid infrastructures facilitates advanced functionalities and high responsiveness, thereby bolstering the overall efficiency of the energy grid. The freshness of the sensing information received at the edge controller, captured by the Age of Information (AoI) metric, is vital to maintain system stability, where outdated information may lead to incorrect responses to grid conditions, potentially causing inefficiencies or system disruptions. However, the timeliness of the transmitted updates is mainly compromised by the delay and congestion within the routing links in the Neighborhood Area Network (NAN). In this work, we develop an intelligent routing strategy to improve the AoI of the Routing Protocol for Low-power and lossy networks (RPL), which is the common routing protocol for smart grids. Our proposed method is based on an AoI-aware parent selection mechanism, by which a node becomes attached to the parent with the highest probability of delivering a packet within a predefined AoI threshold. The prediction is made based on a supervised machine learning model, trained using the collection of heterogeneous routing metrics. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated via extensive discrete-event simulations and the results show its potency to improve the peak AoI and the AoI violation probability compared to the standard RPL. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, a microstrip patch antenna was designed to enable complete coverage of satellite communication. The antenna is capable of covering almost four bands, including S, C, Ka, and Q/V bands. The bandwidth achieved for these bands is relatively large, with the maximum bandwidth of 15.6 GHz achieved at the Q/V band and 11.4 GHz achieved at the Ka band. In the microwave range, the S and C bands have a bandwidth of 2.1 GHz, which is considerable. The antenna achieves a maximum gain of 9.1 dBi at the Q/V band. Moreover, the efficiency of the antenna is remarkably high, with almost 99% efficiency achieved at the Ka band and above 90% efficiency achieved for other bands. The proposed antenna also has a good radiation pattern, and it is considered a suitable contender for the satellite communication system and 5G IOT applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
