Optimal Power Flow Analysis of a Distributed Generation System

This paper describes the mathematical modeling of the optimal power flow problem. The purpose is to optimize the power flow for a whole day, for a system in which several distributed generators (DGs) have been added. There are two objective functions which are minimized, the generation cost and the total power losses of the system, while satisfying equality and inequality constraints. The optimization is performed for different DGs and load scale factors. The other generators from the system have a 1 scale factor.

This paper describes the simulation of a distributed generation system with storage technologies. The simulation is performed using a SCADA software for a distributed generation system, considering the generation cost, the load and the availability of the system's generating units. Also, a storage unit is added to the system. An overview of the storage technologies is also presented.

Electricity is the main driver of the economic activity in a country. In Indonesia, the fuel of electricity system is still coming from the natural resources. Batam has strategic position among other areas in Indonesia to have the highest electrification ratio as it has connected with the gas pipeline, which enables to supply gas to Batam for generating electricity and further to, meet the request by Singapore to export electricity. This thesis discussed on the forecasting risk and return to provide electricity in Batam for domestic purpose and to export to Singapore by using Efficient Frontier. Exporting electricity to Singapore will improve the electricity system in Indonesia, increase the profitability of the power plant in Indonesia, create employment in Indonesia and maximize the natural resources for domestic usage. © 2015 IEEE.

This paper represents a prototype of the designed hybrid rectangular and circular waveguide resonator. This proposed resonator is designed for granular moisture measurement. It also can resonate 2.45 GHz which relates with moisture content of material. This paper contain part of the simulation which is denoted by contour of 3D projection of electric field distribution. The result of simulation is showed by plot of probability density function(PDF) and cumulative distribution functions(CDF) shall be used to determine the probability of electric field distributions of proposed *** prototype construction, the anodizing aluminum which has 3.82×107S/m of conductivity is used as the material. The connector of the proposed prototype is copper SMA connector which has 5.96×107S/m conductivity to transfer microwave signal from microwave meter to the proposed resonator. The experiment contains the moisture measurement of 10 paddy samples. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed prototype, the moisture result is compare with the basic moisture measurement which is dry-weight method. The result shows 82.69% comparing with dry-weight method, but the processing time is extremely reduced, and it is the non-destructive method that the sample is not be destroyed in the measurement.

In this research, we investigated the growth mechanism of cobalt-doped titanium dioxide (Co:TiO2) films. Thi Co:TiO2 thin films were grown on the n-type silicon substrate. The films were grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition method. The growth temperature was varied of 325°C – 450°C. The films were characterized by SEM. Using Arheniu's equation, it is known that the activation energy value of film growth is positive in the range of temperature of 325°C – 400°C and negative in the range of temperature of 400°C – 450°C. These results show that the decomposition rate in the range of temperature of 325°C – 400°C is due to diffusion phase of precursor gas. On the other hand, the decomposition rate decreased in the range of temperature of 400°C – 450°C because the precursor gas decreased, and the surface chemical reaction was high.

Based on the program of The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Republic of Indonesia, this study compares the statistic data of the educational factors and the number of young people to asurvey conducted in the four years, 2009-2013. As a result, significant trends are traced through an era filled with events that deeply affected the lives of young people, such as the peak and the ending of the political issues. Changing values under examination include attitudes toward authority and obligations toward others;social values dealing with attitudes toward the work ethic;marriage, family, and the importance of money in defining the meaning of success;and self-fulfillment. While the largest portion of the sample contains college youth, other people between the ages of 16 and 30 are considered, including high school students, blue collar workers, housewives, and high school dropouts. The report is divided into three major sections containing 3 chapters. Section 1 provides an overview and interpretation of the data. Section 2 presents the research contrasting the values of college and noncollege youth.

Transcriptomic imputation approaches combine eQTL reference panels with large-scale genotype data in order to test associations between disease and gene expression. These genic associations could elucidate signals in complex genome-wide association study (GWAS) loci and may disentangle the role of different tissues in disease development. We used the largest eQTL reference panel for the dorso-lateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) to create a set of gene expression predictors and demonstrate their utility. We applied DLPFC and 12 GTEx-brain predictors to 40,299 schizophrenia cases and 65,264 matched controls for a large transcriptomic imputation study of schizophrenia. We identified 413 genic associations across 13 brain regions. Stepwise conditioning identified 67 non-MHC genes, of which 14 did not fall within previous GWAS loci. We identified 36 significantly enriched pathways, including hexosaminidase-A deficiency, and multiple porphyric disorder pathways. We investigated developmental expression patterns among the 67 non-MHC genes and identified specific groups of pre- and postnatal expression.

Heart sound feature extraction and classification using autoregressive power spectral density (AR-PSD) and statistics features

Heart auscultation is a screening method done by listening using a stethoscope for early diagnosis of heart disease, it is low cost and non-invasive, but it has a limitation of human hearing. This paper presents a noise-robust feature extraction method by combining and selecting a heart sound (HS) feature in time and frequency domain. Wavelet decomposition (WD) is used for noise removal. Features are extracted by AR-PSD and used as inputs for classification. The nine types of abnormal HS that were taken from Michigan Heart Sound Database were classified into nine categories. In this research, statistics features in time and frequency domain are used as additional features. Correlation-based Feature Selection (CFS) is used to select the best feature among 13 features extracted. The performance of a new feature set is called Feature Set 3 compared to CFS. The result shows that the proposed feature set achieves the highest level of accuracy.

In this paper, we explain how an experiential learning course and study tour to Gansu Province (People’s Republic of China) enabled undergraduates at the Singapore Management University (SMU) to acquire 21st-century competencies and higher-order thinking skills by analyzing and evaluating specific aspects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China–Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative — New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor (CCI-ILSTC) with emphasis on developing viable Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies aimed at selling Gansu produce in four Southeast Asian markets. We share how the course was designed to support the attainment of key learning goals and discuss how we turned pedagogical aspirations into concrete learning outcomes. We introduce key aspects of the so-called “SMU-XO” project that the students conducted in partnership with an industry partner, Pacific International Lines (PIL), and discuss how the project work helped learners to gain global competency by (i) examining critical issues related to BRI such as multi-modal infrastructure connectivity, (ii) appreciating the local perspectives of project stakeholders in Lanzhou and Shanghai and (iii) successfully interacting with people from different cultures, namely China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.
