This paper presents a remotely accessible Telecom Intelligent Network (IN) simulator, centered on the Basic Call State Mode (BCSM). This model is a Finite State Machine which describes the behavior of IN services in the call processing. The simulator is dedicated to the students in Telecom and allows them to get acquainted with the operation of the IN Service Control Point (SCP) in different scenarios they can imagine.

In Intelligent Networks (IN), processing of services is taken out of the switches and placed (as "middleware") in separated and distributed computer nodes. Thus, "service integrators" (and not only equipment manufacturers or network operators) can design, deploy and administrate telecom processes tailored to the specific needs of targeted customers (individuals or groups). Education is centered on communications, so IN can be used to enhance learning management systems (LMS), with no space boundaries and in total compliance with community goals. Proprietary IN platforms are used mostly by telecom operators, but open source platforms, using Java APIs (e.g. Mobicents) are nowadays available for educational service creation in universities - which represents the subject of this paper.

During medical procedures, such as surgery, a patient's vital signs are typically monitored using a web of wires connected to adhesive electrodes. The large number of wires inhibits the medical team's access to the patient while the adhesive electrodes can detach, fail, or be out-of-stock, causing delays in the procedure. In order to combat these problems, we have developed the SmartPad: a system that displays a patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) signal without adhesive pads, wires, or active intervention from a clinician. The system automatically selects three electrodes from an array of Cu/Ni-fabric based electrodes patterned on a thin pad on which the patient lies. The selected electrodes are used to provide a differential 3-lead measurement of the patient's ECG, which is then transmitted wirelessly and displayed on a laptop computer.

This article proposes a topology of current-mode improved Wheatstone bridge based on dual-output current differencing transconductance amplifier (DO-CDTA). The features of the proposed configuration are that: magnitude of output signal can be controlled via the input bias currents; the proposed circuit is low temperature sensitive, the circuit description is very simple. The circuit performances are depicted through PSPICE simulations, they show good agreement to theoretical anticipation and provide ability to measure small resistance changes at a wide range of frequency (more than 60 MHz). The power consumption is approximately 4.55 mW at ~1.5 V supply voltages.

This article introduces a grounded capacitance multiplier employing current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (CCCCTAs). The provided capacitor is a grounded element. Its outstanding feature is that the capacitive value can be electronically adjusted by input bias currents of the CCCCTA and is temperature-insensitive. The circuit construction comprises two CCCCTAs, cooperating with a grounded capacitor. The circuit performances are depicted through PSPICE simulations, they show good agreement to theoretical anticipation. Application as a fifth-order Chebyshev low-pass filter is included.

This article presents a voltage-mode first-order all-pass filter based on merely single current controlled current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CCCDTA). The features of the circuit are that: the pole frequency can be electronically controlled via the input bias current: the circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely single CCCDTA and single capacitor, without any matching condition constraint. Consequently, the proposed circuit is very appropriate to further develop into an integrated circuit. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The power consumption is approximately 1.01 mW at plusmn 1.5 V power supply voltages. The application example as a quadrature oscillator is included.

This paper introduces a modified version of current feedback amplifier (CFA), called current controlled current feedback amplifier (CC-CFA), to extend usabilities of this active element in terms of electronic control-abilities and simpler circuit description of the element's applications. This modified element was realized by using a BiCMOS standard technology to reduce offset error phenomenon, the design configuration is systematically explained. The performances have been proven through PSPICE which is accordance with theoretical anticipations. In addition, application examples for a current-mode multiplier/divider, oscillator, grounded inductance simulator, filters, and amplifiers are included. The results are confirmed that the electrical characteristics are electronically tunable.

This article presents a dual-mode (voltage-mode and current-mode) universal biquadratic filter performing completely standard functions: low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-reject and all-pass functions, based on plus type dual-output current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA). The features of the circuit are that: the quality factor and natural frequency can be tuned electronically via the input bias currents: the circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely single CCCCTA and 2 capacitors: the circuit can provide either the voltage-mode or current-mode filter without changing circuit topology. Additionally, each function response can be selected by suitably selecting input signals with digital method. Without any external resistors, the proposed circuit is very suitable to further develop into an integrated circuit. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The maximum power consumption is approximately 1.81 mW at plusmn1.5 V supply voltages.

This article presents a current-mode universal biquadratic filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass functions), based on multiple-output current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (MO-CCCCTAs). The features of the circuit are that: the quality factor and pole frequency can be tuned orthogonally via the input bias currents: the circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely 2 MO-CCCCTAs and 2 grounded capacitors. Without any external resistors, requiring no component matching conditions, and using only grounded elements, the proposed circuit is very appropriate to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the proposed circuit enables easy cascading in current-mode, due to high-output impedances. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The power consumption is approximately 4.04 mW at plusmn1.5 V power supply voltages.

A circuit which can function both as quadrature oscillator and as a universal biquad filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-reject and all-pass functions) is introduced in this paper. Working as quadrature oscillator, the oscillation condition and oscillation frequency can be adjusted independently with the input bias currents. Functioning as a universal biquad filter, the quality factor and natural frequency can be tuned orthogonally via the input bias currents. The proposed circuit can work as either a quadrature oscillator or a universal biquad filter without changing circuit topology. The proposed circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely 2 current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (CCCCTAs) and 2 grounded capacitors. Without any external resistors and using only grounded elements, this circuit is thus suitable for IC architecture. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted, and the given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The maximum power consumption is approximately 3.78 mW at plusmn1.5 V power supplies.
