Simulation on directed graphs is an important method for understanding the dynamics in the systems where connectivity graphs contain cycles. Discrete Stochastic Heterogeneous Simulator (DiSH) is one of the simulation tools with wide application, which uses regulator values to calculate state updates of regulated elements. Here we present a new simulation approach DiSH-trend which also takes into account the trends in regulating elements. We demonstrate the features of trend-based regulation, as well as hybrid regulation, which is a combination of the trend-and level-based approaches. The modeling capabilities are demonstrated on a small toy model, showcasing different functionalities. Real-world capabilities are demonstrated on a larger network model of food insecurity in the Ethiopian region Oromia. Adding trend-based regulation to models results in increased modeling flexibility, and hybrid regulation improves qualitative dynamic behavior prediction. With appropriate data, DiSH-trend becomes a powerful tool for exploring intervention strategies. © 2021 IEEE.

This study aims to understand the willingness of urban communities in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) to move to apartment dwellings, and a study was conducted using a quantitative survey method. The study aimed to analyze the sociodemographic factors influencing the decision to switch to vertical housing. The survey collected data from a sample of individuals representing the entire population in Jabodetabek. The participants in the study were selected from various locations within Jabodetabek, including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. These areas were chosen to comprehensively represent the metropolitan region and its urban communities. By including participants from different locations within Jabodetabek, the study aimed to capture individuals' diverse perspectives and experiences in this region. The survey covered a range of sociodemographic factors such as gender, income, education level, marital status, occupancy, and residence ownership. The participants were divided into two groups: those willing to pay for an apartment and those who wereilling to pay for an apartment and those not. By comparing the characteristics of these two groups, the study aimed to identify significant differences and understand the factors influencing the willingness to move to apartment dwellings. The study results showed significant differences in income level, education level, marital status, and occupancy between the two groups. Income level was the most significant factor affecting an individual's willingness to pay for an apartment. Additionally, the perception of better apartment productivity, which includes reduced transportation time and costs associated with work or other business purposes, increased the demand for apartments. This research is a study on how to improve the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) into a multi-function VSG for DG-based VSG. It can be operated in multiple modes by simply switching switches in a proposed block control for islanded mode, grid-connected mode, pre-parallel mode, pre-synchronization mode, and STATCOM mode automatically. Block control and flow chart of multi-function algorithm are proposed. Simulation results are presented to validate the control strategy.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-Aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. The components outage of an energy system weakens its operation probability, which can affect the sizing of that system. An optimal sizing framework is presented for an autonomous hybrid photovoltaic/hydrokinetic/fuel cell (PV/HKT/FC) system with hydrogen storage to supply an annual load demand with forced outage rate (FOR) of the clean production resources based on real environmental information such as irradiance, temperature, and water flow. The sizing problem is implemented with the objective of cost of energy (COE) minimization and also satisfying probability of load supply (PLS) as a reliability constraint. The FOR effect of the photovoltaic and hydrokinetic resources is evaluated on the hybrid system sizing, energy cost, reliability, and also storage contribution of the system. Meta-heuristic horse herd optimization (HHO) algorithm with perfect capability on exploration and exploitation phases is used to solve the sizing problem. The results proved that the PV/HKT/FC configuration is the optimal option to supply the demand of an autonomous residential complex with the minimum COE and maximum PLS compared with the other system configurations. The results demonstrated the overlap of hydrogen storage with clean production resources to achieve an economic-reliable power generation system. The findings indicated that the COE is increased and the PLS is decreased due to the FOR increasing because of reducing the generation resources operational probability. The results demonstrated that the hydrogen storage level is increased with FOR increasing to maintain the system reliability level. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Batik is an Indonesian world cultural heritage. Batik consists of many kinds of patterns depending on where the batik comes from, Batik-making techniques continue to develop along with technology development. Among the batik making techniques that are widely used are hand-written, stamping, and printing. Batik motifs have been widely used as research material, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The diverse appearance of batik motifs has attracted many researchers to carry out research on making synthetic batik patterns, one of which uses a Generative Adversarial Network. This paper presents a synthetic batik pattern model based on the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty. This model has been proven to create new synthetic batik patterns quite well and almost identical with images provided in the dataset, with the notes if the dataset provided is large.

The use of radionuclides for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes is the primary function of nuclear medicine. Among these radionuclides, the iodine family stands out as isotopes that can serve various purposes, including brachytherapy, scintigraphy, and research. The internal dosimetry of these nuclides becomes even more important when considering high-risk groups such as pregnant patients, as it involves concerns for both the mother and the fetus. This study aims to use Monte Carlo simulations to calculate S-values for a set of target organs in both the pregnant woman and the fetus, considering different source organs in the mother and three iodine isotopes: 131I, 125I, and 123I. The results indicated that 131I, with the highest emission energy, presented a high dose deposition pattern in target organs farther from the source organs, while 125I, with the lowest energy, showed a localized dose absorption pattern in adjacent organs. The highest S-values (all in mGy/MBq.s) were obtained for the pregnant woman, with values of 5.8E-05 in the thyroid using 123I and 125I, and 3.7E-04 in the bladder using 131I. For fetal organs, the most irradiated were the brain and skull using 131I, with values of 6.3E-06 and 5.6E-06, respectively, while the lowest values were associated with the use of 125I in source organs distant from the target organ, with contributions as low as 1E-12 for the thyroid as a source. This work presents a qualitative and quantitative study of the internal dosimetry of a pregnant patient and her fetus, addressing variables such as radioactive isotope and source and target organs, serving as a reference for dosimetric calculations deemed necessary in clinical practices to minimize the dose received by this critical group. © 2025, The Authors. For plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) using grid power to fulfill the battery, on-board battery chargers are considered by combining hardware operation of charger system and drive system (converters and motors) without additional volume, weight, and cost. More operation features (the active and reactive power) on the on-board battery chargers should support into PEV users and the utility grid. This paper presents a novel configuration of an on-board battery charger for PEVs consist of a nine-switch converter and an open-end winding ac motor. A control strategy is also presented for this on-board battery charger. At the same time, it can control the active power and the reactive power from a PEV user and the utility grid, respectively. Moreover, the bidirectional power flow can operate on either charging mode, driving mode, or supply to the utility grid with galvanic isolation. Only the offline charging mode is presented. To verify the performance of the on-board battery charger, the simulation results are provided.

Navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape requires a sophisticated platform that is not only comprehensive but also user-friendly and enables seamless analysis and document comparison in the legal realm. To address this challenging requirement, this research is dedicated to the user experience (UX) design of state-of the-art cloud-native mobile applications specifically designed for legal and regulatory harmonization. The methodology used is based on design thinking principles and takes advantage of the benefits of cloud computing. These include, but are not limited to, scalability, reliability, and security. The result is a solution that is not only powerful but also cost-effective. The core of this application follows a user-centered design philosophy and involves potential users closely in the design process. A comprehensive evaluation is performed using the System Usability Scale (SUS) methodology to measure the effectiveness and usability of the application. The results of this comprehensive approach are convincing. The application has an impressive 95.5% usage rate, indicating strong user engagement. Furthermore, user satisfaction ratings are particularly high and transformative impact of this application in a complex environment of legal harmonization. Through its innovative design, seamless functionality, and user-centric approach, this application has proven to be not only a technical solution, but also a catalyst for positive change in the legal and regulatory harmonization process.

Optical spectroscopy – the measurement of electromagnetic spectra – is fundamental to various scientific domains and serves as the building block of numerous technologies.1–3 Computational spectrometry is an emerging field that employs an array of photodetectors with different spectral responses or a single photodetector device with tunable spectral response, in conjunction with numerical algorithms, for spectroscopic measurements.4–6 Compact single photodetectors made from layered materials are particularly attractive, 7–9 since they eliminate the need for bulky mechanical and optical components used in traditional spectrometers and can easily be engineered as heterostructures to optimize device performance.7,10 However, compact tunable photodetectors are typically nonlinear devices and this adds complexity to extracting optical spectra from the device response. Here, we report on the training of an artificial neural network (ANN) to recover the full nonlinear spectral photoresponse - a nonlinear problem of high dimensionality - of a single GeSe-InSe p-n heterojunction device. We demonstrate the functionality of a calibrated spectrometer in the spectral range of 400-1100 nm, with a small device footprint of ~25 × 25 μm, and we achieve a mean reconstruction error of 2 × 10-4 for the power-spectrum at a spectral resolution of 0.35 nm.
