In 2016, there are more than 20.000 commercial vessel (ship/boat) in operation inside Indonesian Maritime Zone. Global competition has pushed Vessel owner and Fleet Management to continuously improve their efficiency and effectiveness of their Vessel Operations. One common way of improvement is by implementation of Vessel Monitoring System which help Fleet Management to locates and monitors their vessel out in the open sea in real time. Vessel Monitoring System usually monitor basic GPS data only, like location, heading, and speed. The recent trend is the implementation Vessel Telemetry System (VTeS), which delivers more data from vessel, such as engine status, propeller status, and fuel consumption. While more parameters are delivered to ground station, a deeper analysis is required to understand the current condition of vessel, hence it requires more time and effort. The lack of person or expert who understand how to analyze those data only make the VMS system underutilized and become useless, therefore it's very important to provide a decision support system to resolve this problem. This research is an initial study on how to build a Decision Support System using machine learning to interpret VTeS data. The selected case is how to detect fuel consumption anomaly in vessel operations. Early study indicates that this system is possible, and in the end of paper we propose a machine learning pipeline model for this system. © 2019 IEEE.

Efficiency analysis of a 150 Wp solar power system as a water pump electric power source

The 1970 – 1979 when a world energy crisis occurred and since then new and renewable energy has started to gain attention. Water and electricity are very important sources of life. Solar energy can be used to turn on a water pump through a solar power generation system as a water pump energy source. it is very important to know the level of efficiency of the PV module as a solar energy absorber that will produce current and voltage values. This solar power system will be equipped with 150 Wp PV, SCC, Battery, Inverter and also a 125 watt Pump. To determine the efficiency level of PV as a water pump power system, observations and measurements carried out for data collection for one day. The measurement shows that the highest voltage at 15:00 WIB 20.85 Voc with a temperature of 34.95°C with a current of 4.80 Isc when solar radiation is 560 W/m^2 and produces a power of 100.08 watts with an input power of 563 watts and an efficiency value of 17%. While the lowest voltage at 12:00 WIB 18.60 Voc when the temperature 41.16 °C and the current generated 6.90 Isc with solar radiation of 1013 W/m^2 and the power generated 128.34 watts with an input power of 1019 watts and the resulting efficiency 12%. Temperature is the main factor in the voltage generated, while solar radiation will affect the current output to be generated by PV. Incoming and outgoing power will determine the efficiency of the PV system as a water pump power source.

The estimation of the waste heat recovery in prime cookstove by using thermoelectric generators

Stoves with wooden fuel are widely used by communities in developing countries. Despite the relatively low efficiency of wood as fuel in stoves, the heat released could be reused and/or harvested into electrical energy. This work applied the Thermoelectric Energy Generator (TEG) technology to harvest the heat energy surrounding the stove into electricity by installing the TEC1-12706 and SP1848-27145SA cells in the upright position on the stove. The potential thermal energy efficiency of biomass stoves with an attached TEG was calculated. The results showed that when two TEGs in pair were attached, 1.48 V and 0.09 A were produced, meanwhile when the round side of the stove wall was fully attached to TEGs, it showed potential electrical energy production up to 0.27 W. The amount of energy produced was able to recharge lithium-ion batteries for 53 minutes using a buck-boost DC voltage converter, also contributing to increasing the stove’s energy efficiency by 0.014%.

Motor drive systems in mining facilities usually require long cables to connect the converter to the motor. The result is the widely known occurrence of transient overvoltages on the motor terminals, in both differential and common voltages, as such this (i) increases the dielectric stress over the windings and (ii) produces the voltage induced in the motor shaft, which goes on to generate EDM discharges and damage to the motor bearings. In this context, to deal with (ii), in this paper, a modified modulation technique for the common mode voltage reduction in matrix converters is evaluated. Simulations were developed in MATLAB/Simulink employing sophisticated models for the converter, cable, motor and transformer, which are able to represent their behaviors in a wide frequency range. From the obtained results, the advantages and drawbacks of the modulation method under investigation are highlighted and discussed. One of the conclusions is that the differential transient overvoltages are magnified when the modified modulation control is used, in contrast to the common mode reduction provided by it. Due to this trade-off between these two undesired phenomena, the intended application is what will go on to define the feasibility of the investigated technique.

Watering and liquid fertilization carried out by plant owners are still manual, where the owner's involvement in these two things requires a long free time until the plants are wet and adequate fertilization is achieved. In other conditions, more attention to the survival and maintenance of plants through watering and fertilization is an absolute necessity so that plants do not wilt easily and eventually die. A solution for watering and fertilizing liquids is automatically offered through the design of watering and fertilizing liquids with a microcontroller as a control center based on Internet of Things communication. The tool is designed to automatically water and fertilize plants and generate a remote monitoring system for soil moisture using the *** application. The method used in realizing this design includes several stages, namely system block diagram planning, electrical and mechanical system planning, software design, and system testing to prove the tool can work properly according to the initial design. Supporting components for controlling watering and liquid fertilization using Wemos D1 R1, Capacitive soil moisture sensor as a soil moisture sensor, Real-Time Clock (RTC) module as a fertilizer timer. Relay that functions as a switch to turn the pump on and off. The results of the performance of the designed tool can do watering automatically when the soil moisture level is below 20% and will stop when the soil moisture is more than 40%. Meanwhile, liquid fertilization will automatically work according to a predetermined time. The existing monitoring system is accessed using smartphones and computers with the help of the *** application as long as the device is connected to the internet network. Label-free alignment between datasets collected at different times, locations, or by different instruments is a fundamental scientific task. Hyperbolic spaces have recently provided a fruitful foundation for the development of informative representations of hierarchical data. Here, we take a purely geometric approach for label-free alignment of hierarchical datasets and introduce hyperbolic Procrustes analysis (HPA). HPA consists of new implementations of the three prototypical Procrustes analysis components: translation, scaling, and rotation, based on the Riemannian geometry of the Lorentz model of hyperbolic space. We analyze the proposed components, highlighting their useful properties for alignment. The efficacy of HPA, its theoretical properties, stability and computational efficiency are demonstrated in simulations. In addition, we showcase its performance on three batch correction tasks involving gene expression and mass cytometry data. Specifically, we demonstrate high-quality unsupervised batch effect removal from data acquired at different sites and with different technologies that outperforms recent methods for label-free alignment in hyperbolic spaces.

The Mekong River Basin (MRB) is crucial for the livelihoods of over 60 million people across six Southeast Asian countries. Understanding long-term sediment changes is crucial for management and contingency plans, but the sediment concentration data in the MRB are extremely sporadic, making analysis challenging. This study focuses on reconstructing long-term suspended sediment concentration (SSC) data using a novel semi-supervised machine learning (ML) model. The key idea of this approach is to exploit abundant available hydroclimate data to reduce training overfitting rather than solely relying on sediment concentration data, thus enhancing the accuracy of the employed ML models. Extensive experiments on daily hydroclimate and SSC data obtained from 1979 to 2019 at the three main stations (i.e., Chiang Saen, Nong Khai, and Mukdahan) are conducted to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art supervised techniques (i.e., Random Forest, XGBoost, CatBoost, MLP, CNN, and LSTM), and surpasses existing semi-supervised methods (i.e., CoReg, ⊓ Model, ICT, and Mean Teacher). This approach is the first semi-supervised method to reconstruct sediment data in the field and has the potential for broader application in other river systems. © 2024 The Author(s)

With the advent of new and promising cancer therapies, and with increased interest in precision medicine, there is an urgent need to develop non-invasive technologies that evaluate heterogeneity in treatment response. We demonstrate an 8-plex imaging platform based on surface enhanced resonance Raman scattering nanoparticles (SERRS NPs) to monitor the expression of 4 immunomarkers before and after treatment with checkpoint blockade therapy with anti-CTLA4 and anti-PD-1 antibodies in immunotherapy models of colon (CT26) and breast (4T1) cancers. We found that CT26 tumors showed an early treatment response, while the typically refractory 4T1 tumors demonstrated an unexpected treatment response, suggesting that the nanoparticles may have synergistically contributed to the treatment. Serial imaging of multiple markers during therapy can help predict treatment efficacy and uncover new theranostic adjuvants.

There are many compounds to be used to treat cancer but still only 20% of proposed anticancer agents have been commercialized after clinical trials due to serious side effects and unsatisfactory results. To screen potential drugs precisely and quickly, this study develops a flexible bioimpedance sensor. The sensor is positive to detect the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of drugs real-time by analyzing phase angle changes during cell mortality. The best results are achieved using a probe separation of A12B34 at logarithmic frequencies of 163 Hz and 77.87 kHz. At these two frequencies, there is a linear relationship with the phase angle at 0% and 50% of the dead cells. Dividing the phase angle at the two frequencies shows a 17.98% change in the phase angle, which allows self-correction and insensitivity to the number of cells. A custom phase angle measurement device is developed for detection at 163 Hz and 77.87 kHz, respectively. This study develops a novel sensor that is precise, fast and allows high throughput analysis to detect the inhibition of cancer in real-time. This sensor is an alternative to traditional chemical detection methods because it is faster, cheaper and more accurate. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The present study presents a regression function for optimum tilt angle for fixed mode flat-plate solar harvesters suitable for different locations in Libya, sky conditions and albedo values. The research based on 14 years -15 minutes time series solar irradiation components which provided by Solargis database platform for 24 different locations in Libya, based on the contract signed between the Solargis Company and Wadi AlShatti University. Several transposition models are applied - corresponding to each location - for estimating the tilted global solar irradiance components according to recommendation of a local recent study. The proposed model corrects the optimum tilt angle by involving the three components of the solar irradiation: direct beam, sky-diffused and ground reflected solar irradiances. The results proved the applicability and reliability of the obtained regression model. In addition, results showed the high potential of the proposed model for use in engineering design, eco-energetic analysis and optimum design processes.
