Instrument current transformers (CTs) are widely used in various types of electrical energy measurement. Eddy current losses, losses of hysteresis, a saturation of CT, and inevitable flux leaks could lead to errors including errors in the ratio and phase angle. Improving the accuracy of CT measurement could be achieved in many ways. In this study, a bisection calibration method to overcome the error by implementing correction factor integrated with the Arduino codes is investigated. The reliability of this system has been tested in two different situations, which are a constant and variable load experiments. The result shows that the readout of the developed instrument using 100 A/50mA CT could achieve the deviation value of less than 2%, confirming the excellence accuracy of energy meter. © 2019 IEEE.

Fishing can be done in various ways, including by utilizing lights as fishing tools. The lights used for fishing tools are varied, ranging from torch lights, pressure paraffin lamp, fluorescent lamps (TL, PL, SL, CFL), mercury, and various types of led. However, light transition between one colors to another often scares the fish, driving them out of catchable area shocked by the color change. One solution to address this problem is by smoothly switching the color of the lamp using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) system on the microcontroller. The color used are the lamp with basic colors of red, green and blue. With power capacity of 50Watt/12Volt, this lamp is classified as High Power Led (HPL) lamp. The light can be free-adjusted, where each lamp can be turned on by its own light or can also be turned on in combination. It can slowly be switch on from an off position to maximum and also can be dimmed from maximum to off. Thus the intensity of the light can be controlled. The HPL and control sections were created separately. Tools and materials used are consist of push-button, microcontroller, optocoupler, mosfet and Red, Green and Blue HPL, Radio-meter (ILT5000 Research Radiometer), Voltmeter, and Amperemeter. The method used was experimental in both laboratory and field. The result of research is in the form of RGB HPL lamp which can be adjusted through control system, such as adjusment for each lamp, or light combination with smooth color transition. Thus, when this technology is applied as fishing tool in liftnet fishing, the targeted fish would still remain on catchable area. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Transformer is one of the main components in distribution system of electrical power system towards the consumers, thereby any damage to the transformers will hinder the distribution of electricity towards the consumers, and in turn will make the SAIDI and SAIFI levels go up. High temperature in transformers can cause degradation in the insulation of transformers which in turn will cause failure in transformers. When the temperature in winding reaches or goes beyond the limit of 110°C, a degradation in insulation will start happening and the remaining life of transformers will decrease. Damage in transformers will cause disturbance in electrical power system and result in a major economic loss. Before damages occur, transformers need to be changed up until it is deemed to be no longer efficient, this can be done by replacing the transformer that is about to be damaged. To predict when a transformer is about to break, a calculation is made based on thermal modelling according to IEEE Std C57.91-1995 with its most prominent variable being Hot Spot Temperature (HST). HST is obtained by MATLAB programming using Annex G of IEEE Std. C57.91-1995. By obtaining HST, thus the remaining lifetime of transformers can be predicted. This study analysed the effect of loading, hot-spot temperature, and ambient temperature on the remaining lifetime of a transformer. The higher those three factors, the quicker the transformer will break, with loss of life percentage increasing exponentially. The highest loading, hot spot temperature, and ambient temperature given in this research gives percent loss of life of 0.0888332%, 0.0193394%, 0.020753% respectively. © 2019 IEEE.

Study on the waste valve's stroke to water hammer pressure and flow patterns in a hydraulic ram pump

The pressure in the hydraulic ram pump increases due to a sudden cessation of flow out through the waste valve when the waste valve is closing. The increasing of water hammer pressure is strongly influenced by velocity of the water flow in the drive pipe. Therefore, the waste valve has an important role in mechanism of the occurrence of water hammer pressure, performance, and flow patterns in the hydraulic ram pump. This study investigated the water hammer pressure and the flow patterns in the hydraulic ram pump that has been installed at Bon sub-village, as well as its performance at various strokes of the waste valve. In addition, CFD simulation using Ansys Fluent was conducted. The result show that increasing stroke of the waste valve increase the water velocity in the drive pipe and the water hammer pressure, and the optimum of the waste valve stroke has been predicted subject to volumetric and total efficiency using the equation of their trendlines. Furthermore, the flow patterns such as vortex, split flow, and blockage mass in the hydraulic ram pump have been identified.

A large number of robotic kits is commercially available for children education nowadays. Regarding the programming possibilities of these kits, they are usually divided into three categories: i) textual languages based kits, ii) digital blocks based kits and iii) tangible blocks based kits. In tangible blocks kits, the programming instructions are represented by physical - touchable - elements like blocks, cards or buttons. Since these are concrete objects, they are usually more playful and accessible for young children mainly in the concrete operational stage. Another relevant aspect in robotic kits is the possibility for children to follow the code execution at runtime. This process may be crucial for comprehending the programming process and for developing debugging abilities. In tangible programming based kits, this visual tracking is far more complex than in textual or digital blocks based kits since it typically requires the transmission of information between a lot of distinct physical pieces. The present work proposes and discusses the implementation of a digital electronic circuit with bluetooth communication designed for educational robotics kit and capable to provide a visual feedback. Results demonstrate that the proposed circuit is functional and feasible for embedding in robotic kits at a low cost.

A deep learning for automated segmentation of skeletal muscle at the third lumbar vertebra in computed tomography images

IntroductionThe purpose of this study is to apply deep learning to segment and visualize the skeletal muscle in the middle of third lumbar vertebra on computed tomography images. MethodsBetween July 1 and December 31, 2021, patients aged 20 to 60 who had computed tomography at Songklanagarind Hospital computed tomography center will have their images of the abdomen axial slice at the middle of the third lumbar vertebra gathered. We use 215 images, including computed tomography (original images) and binary images, for data preparation using region growing and manual segmentation in MATLAB by over ten years experienced radiation technologist. Additionally, the dataset is separated into three distinct categories: train, validation, and verification. The deep learning model was developed using python and a 2D dilated residual attention U-Net architecture. And Thresholding-based solutions were desired to prevent over detection of the model's exterior muscle area. ResultOn the validation set, the model's accuracy, Binary Cross-Entropy loss, and similarity Intersection over union (IoU)were 0.9926, 0.0387, and 0.8869, respectively, for the model performance of automated segmentation in the middle of the third lumbar vertebra using computed tomography images. In addition, the rate of validation errors decreases from 0.99 percent to 0.49 percent. ConclusionFinally, when employing deep learning for automated segmentation and visualization of skeletal muscle in the middle of the third lumbar vertebra on computed tomography images was highly effective.

The electrocatalytic activity and electronic conductivity of 2D transition metal chalcogenides are usually enhanced by as follows the ideal strategy such as doping or substitution heterogeneous atoms. Here, a rare Earth metal ion of gadolinium (Gd3+) was doped with MoSe2 and synthesized through the hydrothermal method. The morphology and nanostructure of Gd3+ with MoSe2 spheres were analyzed under X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis, Field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Furthermore, the Gd3+ doped MoSe2 sphere modified glassy carbon electrode (Gd@MoSe2/GCE) was used for the sensing of tryptophan. The Gd@MoSe2 modified GCE shows remarkable sensing performance of tryptophan resulting in a linear range (20 nM-220 μM) with a low detection limit (6.7 nM). Under the optimal condition, the developed electrochemical sensor was successfully used to determine tryptophan (TRP) in blood serum and milk samples. The electrochemical biosensing results suggest that the doping of the Gd3+ doped MoSe2 sensor is a promising electrocatalyst in biological and food samples. © 2023 The Electrochemical Society ("ECS"). Alternating Diffusion (AD) is a commonly applied diffusion-based sensor fusion algorithm. While it has been successfully applied to various problems, its computational burden remains a limitation. Inspired by the landmark diffusion idea considered in the Robust and Scalable Embedding via Landmark Diffusion (ROSELAND), we propose a variation of AD, called Landmark AD (LAD), which captures the essence of AD while offering superior computational efficiency. With almost 3.75 million people with visually impaired in Indonesia, according to statistical data shown that most of them not live in prosperity. To increase their productivity they need an assistive device that's allows them to navigate freely. This paper presents a novel Audio guidance system for blind in the shape of simple bag with earphone for giving them an audio guidance efficiently and safety. Different with other audio guidance, we propose a simple system consist of Raspberry Pi Camera and Ultrasonic Sensor as input, Raspberry Pi, Earphone and Power bank. This system is initiated by providing a voice command of the direction where the blind person must walk or go through, so they can avoid from obstacles. We also apply Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) to detect the obstacles along they walk by using 3 ultrasonic sensors. The experimental result shows that by using FLC and interfacing by Raspberry Pi the proposed system can effectively to detect the obstacles and give direction with 2.32% distance error. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
