Forecasting model of power generated by wind power plants

The power generated by wind power plants is unstable so forecasting is needed to maintain the power balance in an interconnected system. The purpose of this research is to predict the power generated at the Sidrap and Jeneponto wind power plants. The method used is an optimally pruned extreme learning machine (OPELM). The extreme learning machine (ELM) method is used as a comparison method. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) method is used to assess the level of forecasting accuracy. Forecasting power generation with Sidrap wind power plant data using the OPELM method is 0.8970% more accurate than the ELM which is 1.0853%. In general, the OPELM method is more accurate. Forecasting power generation with data from the Jeneponto wind power plant using the OPELM method is 2.4887% more accurate than the ELM method is 2.9984%. These results indicate that linear, sigmoid, and Gaussian activation in the OPELM method can increase accuracy. The OPELM method can be tested in forecasting the power generation at the Sidrap and Jeneponto wind power plants to maintain a power balance in the Sulselbar power grid system.

In a natural disaster, it is often necessary to have an autonomous system capable of moving in an irregular and unpredictable area. This paper proposes a robot that is mechanically capable of moving in a disaster area and equipped with a navigation using behavior-based systems. Its mechanical, electronic and computing systems are described. The development of the primitive behavior that has been made is explained in detail. Several experiments have been carried out to show the performance of the proposed robotic systems. © 2020 IEEE.

One of the efforts to improve the quality of urban environment is smart environment concept that has become one of six of smart city indicators such as smart government, smart economy, smart people, smart mobility, and smart living. Smart environment means an environment that provides comfort, resources, physical and nonphysical beauty, and visual for the people, also students in their schools. This research aimed to apply the concept of smart trash bin in schools. This smart trash bin that detects rubbish based on rubbish group (plastic and metal). In addition, the smart trash bin has a function as education for the students as well. It has explanation about knowledge and how to use the trash bin so the students have awareness to keep environment clean and beauty. The research used Research and Development method from Borg and Gall model. The target of this research was the students in elementary school. The final result of this smart trash bin was a feasibility test product. There will be a test for the students using questionnaire. So that this smart trash bin is effective to improve the knowledge of students about rubbish. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.

In this paper, we present the improving the feature extraction method of the MFCC algorithm for noise robustness when there is interference in the speech input signal. The various parameter extraction with new technique as the descend-delta-mean and mel frequency cepstral coefficients is called the DDMMFCC. The purpose is to require the noise robustness of feature vector extracted from the speech signal with the characteristic coefficients of the DDM-MFCC algorithm. In order to increase the speech and speakers recognition accuracy rate, the DDM technique is a new method of finding the average value of a descendant of power spectrum magnitude. The process consisting method of rearranging magnitude of the spectral power is reduced to a minimum in each frequency band of the speech signal, and to find the difference in the arrangement. Finally, to determine the value of mean. The experiment results of the proposed robustness feature extraction DDM-MFCC algorithm and the conventional of MFCC algorithm is compared, when the training and testing dataset is the 0-9 Isolated THAI digits speech of 10 THAI speakers recognition. With additive random white Gaussian noise is added for testing dataset with signal to noise ratio (SNR) as 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 dB, respectively. Simulation results of proposed DMM-MFCC algorithm are shown higher rate of recognition accuracy rate than the conventional MFCC algorithm.

Solar dryer is typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia. There are many economically important crops requiring storage or drying under particular environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. High temperatures inside solar dryer prevents the growth of microorganism, and quickly reduce moisture content from the substance. A hybrid solar dryer is generally considered to provide the most optimum solution, however solar panels may be expensive and they still only provide heat or energy in the daytime. Hence, we propose here a new kind of hybrid solar dryer for 24/7 optimum conditions for crops - enabled by recent advances in energy technologies as well as Industry 4.0. This study aims to create an efficient, affordable and a self-sufficient intelligent energy system that will be applied to agriculture for storage or drying purposes by measuring the energy needs for the optimal drying system. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate and assess the critical energy needs for such new systems in order to optimize and design such smart solar dryer (SSD) system especially for Indonesia's agricultural needs. We use design experience of our industry partner (PT Impack Pratama Industri, Indonesia) who has been working extensively on such solar dryer dome (SDD) based on polycarbonate material (only solar irradiation, no other technologies) and theoretical framework based on first principles in thermodynamics to estimate and assess critical energy needs for such dome with all the smart technologies. The calculation was performed based on Mollier diagram and the result still a rough estimation of energy required.

Monitoring of fetal condition during labor could save hundred lives in a single year. During labor, fetus is at critical condition as acidosis may occur suddenly without any early symptoms. Invasive method such as Fetal Blood Sampling (FBS) has been used to detect the decline in pH level of fetus. However, fetal loss rate after FBS may range from 1.4% up to 25%. In this paper, magnetic field induction spectroscopy was implemented to determine fetal acidosis by using primary magnetic field cancellation technique. Magnetic Induction Spectroscopy (MIS) probe was design where transmitter coil (TX) is perpendicular to receiver coil (RX). The result shows that the secondary magnetic field produced have been successfully measured without any interruption from primary magnetic field. By using transmitter input 1A, it shows that voltage is inversely proportional to the blood pH due to the conductivity properties of blood.

Treatments based on Virtual Reality have been successfully used in motor rehabilitation of issues such as Spinal Cord Injury and Stroke. Highly immersive Virtual environments combined with biofeedback can be utilized to train functional activities on patients with these motor disabilities. This work details the development of a portable Virtual Reality environment to train upper limbs activities on Spinal Cord Injury subjects. The Virtual Reality environment depicts a personalized physiotherapy room where the user trains elbow and shoulder by reaching 5 spots on table. Also the user have a biofeedback of both hands’ position. Finally this system will be integrated a pilot biomechanical analysis using The Motion Monitor system to compare a group of patients before and after a 6 week intervention with Virtual Reality. Topologically stable field configurations appear in many fields of physics, from elementary particles to condensed matter and cosmology. Deep physical relations and common physical features of a large variety of very different solitonic states in these systems arise from the mathematical similarity of phenomenological equations. During the last decade, chiral liquid crystals and chiral magnets took on the role of model objects for the experimental investigation of topological solitons and the understanding of their nonsingular field configurations. This is directly related to the discovery of particle-like chiral skyrmions, which are also considered as promising ingredients for technological applications. Here we introduce a paradigm of facile skyrmionic networks with mutually orthogonal orientations of constituent isolated skyrmions. On the one hand, such networks are envisioned as a novel concept of spintronic devices based, e.g., on gapless skyrmion motion along each other, and are presumably responsible for precursor phenomena near the ordering temperatures of bulk cubic helimagnets. In particular, we demonstrate an interconversion between mutually orthogonal skyrmions: horizontal skyrmions may swirl into an intermediate spring-like state and subsequently squeeze into vertical skyrmions with both polarities. On the other hand, skyrmion tubes are considered as building blocks for particle-like states with more involved internal structure. A family of target-skyrmions, which includes a so far overlooked type with a multiple topological charge, is formed owing to the tendency to minimize the interaction energy between vertical and horizontal skyrmions. The conical phase serves as a suitable background for considered skyrmion evolution. It substantializes the attracting skyrmion-skyrmion interaction in the skyrmionic networks, shapes their internal structure, and guides the nucleation processes. Structural colors generated due to light scattering from static all-dielectric metasurfaces have successfully enabled high-resolution, high-saturation, and wide-gamut color printing applications. Despite recent advances, most demonstrations of these structure-dependent colors lack post-fabrication tunability. This hinders their applicability for front-end dynamic display technologies. Phase-change materials (PCMs), with significant contrast of their optical properties between their amorphous and crystalline states, have demonstrated promising potentials in reconfigurable nanophotonics. Herein, we leverage tunable all-dielectric reflective metasurfaces made of newly emerged classes of low-loss optical PCMs, i.e., antimony trisulphide (Sb2S3) and antimony triselenide (Sb2Se3), with superb characteristics to realize switchable, high-saturation, high-efficiency and high-resolution dynamic meta-pixels. Exploiting polarization-sensitive building blocks, the presented meta-pixel can generate two different colors when illuminated by either one of two orthogonally polarized incident beams. Such degrees of freedom (i.e., material phase and polarization state) enable a single reconfigurable metasurface with fixed geometrical parameters to generate four distinct wide-gamut colors. We experimentally demonstrate, for the first time, an electrically-driven micro-scale display through the integration of phase-change metasurfaces with an on-chip heater formed by transparent conductive oxide. Our experimental findings enable a versatile platform suitable for a wide range of applications, including tunable full-color printing, enhanced dynamic displays, information encryption, and anti-counterfeiting. © 2021, CC BY.

Recently synthesized Porous 12-Atom-Wide Armchair Graphene Nanoribbons (12-AGNRs) [Nano Lett. 2024, 24, 10718-10723]exhibit tunable properties through periodic porosity, enabling precise control over their electronic, optical, thermal, and mechanical behavior. This work presents a comprehensive theoretical characterization of pristine and porous 12-AGNRs based on density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. DFT calculations reveal substantial electronic modifications, including band gap widening and the emergence of localized states. Analyzed within the Bethe–Salpeter equation (BSE) framework, optical properties highlight strong excitonic effects and significant absorption shifts. Thermal transport simulations indicate a pronounced reduction in conductivity due to enhanced phonon scattering at nanopores. At the same time, MD-based mechanical analysis shows decreased stiffness and strength while maintaining structural integrity. Despite these modifications, porous 12-AGNRs remain mechanically and thermally stable.
