Kemiri sunan (Reutalis trisperma (blanco) airy shaw) is a plant that has the potential to be developed as a biodiesel feedstock in Indonesia because its fruit seeds have several advantages compared to jatropha and palm oil, including its oil content and productivity. The biodiesel production process consists of three stages, namely, esterification, transesterification, and purification. The process requires strong mixing to obtain sufficient contact between the vegetable oil and the catalyst or alcohol, especially at the beginning of the reaction. It is carried out manually in the reaction process through mechanical mixing (stirring) and heating in the transesterification process. Furthermore, biodiesel production process is greatly influenced by the accuracy of concentration and type of catalyst. This study aims to identify the optimal method for the process of biodiesel production from kemiri sunan oil. The research was conducted with a one-stage transesterification to determine the biodiesel yield and quality. The results showed that several biodiesel parameters satisfied the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for biodiesel (SNI number 7182:2015). However, the kinematic viscosity of biodiesel was still higher than the standard.

A g-circulant matrix is an n-dimensional matrix Cn,g that can be expressed as Cn,g=[c(gr−s)modn]r,s=0n−1 . This study will investigate the use of g-circulant matrices as weight matrices on transformer neural networks for machine translation. On transformer model tested, the g-circulant weight matrix undergoes multiplication with any vector and involves the DCT-DST algorithm. This algorithm is proposed as a substitute for the commonly used FFT algorithm. For this reason, an orthogonal matrix Un,g was defined by multiplying the Un matrix and appropriate permutation matrix, where Un matrix is a matrix that is spanned by the combination of the real and imaginary parts of eigenvectors of the real 1-circulant matrix. Then we form a Schur decomposition of the g-circulant matrix, composes the Qn,g matrix, and using the DCT-DST to formulate the multiplication of Qn,gUn,g. We discovered that 2-circulant matrices are outperform compared to the other g-circulant matrices and the original model of transformer in terms of accuracy and loss training.

Photonic technologies continue to drive the quest for new optical materials with unprecedented responses. A major frontier in this field is the exploration of nonlocal (spatially dispersive) materials, going beyond the local, wavevector-independent assumption traditionally made in optical material modeling. On one end, the growing interest in plasmonic, polaritonic and quantum materials has revealed naturally occurring nonlocalities, emphasizing the need for more accurate models to predict and design their optical responses. This has major implications also for topological, nonreciprocal, and time-varying systems based on these material platforms. Beyond natural materials, artificially structured materials—metamaterials and metasurfaces–can provide even stronger and engineered nonlocal effects, emerging from long-range interactions or multipolar effects. This is a rapidly expanding area in the field of photonic metamaterials, with open frontiers yet to be explored. In the case of metasurfaces, in particular, nonlocality engineering has become a powerful tool for designing strongly wavevector-dependent responses, enabling enhanced wavefront control, spatial compression, multifunctional devices, and wave-based computing. Furthermore, nonlocality and related concepts play a critical role in defining the ultimate limits of what is possible in optics, photonics, and wave physics. This Roadmap aims to survey the most exciting developments in nonlocal photonic materials, highlight new opportunities and open challenges, and chart new pathways that will drive this emerging field forward–toward new scientific discoveries and technological advancements. Tuning with Ziegler Nichols Method for Design PID Controller At Rotate Speed DC Motor

DC motor is a type of motor that is widely used in industry, electronics and supporting components for some electronic equipment or instrumentation. But now the PID controller is still widely used in various industrial sectors, this is due to its toughness to overcome various problems that exist in the industry. But there is one drawback that is the tuning method, the tuning process must be done by trial and error. More tuning procedures done manually by trial and error method that the result is not necessarily true. To overcome these problems required an alternative approach that can achieve a relatively better value and faster to perform the tuning process. In this case the alternative method used is tuning with Ziegler Nichols. Based on the simulation performed with the controlled torch, the value of the disturbance with the controller Kp = 3,6, Ki = 2,857 and Kd = 1,134 happened to the motor rotation at the lowest interference occurred at 1818 RPM while the highest rotation disturbance reached 2177 RPM from the nominal rotation speed of 2000 RPM for 80 seconds and suffered a friction coefficient of about 20 seconds.

In the general context of COVID-19 teaching methods and techniques are directed to the virtual environment. While for courses this is not a major issue for laboratory practice is a big step back. In order to address this problem, we proposed a teaching methodology based on visual instructions that can help students develop the necessary practice skills while being in a safe environment.

Dynamic processes on networks, be it information transfer in the Internet, contagious spreading in a social network, or neural signaling, take place along shortest or nearly shortest paths. Unfortunately, our maps of most large networks are substantially incomplete due to either the highly dynamic nature of networks, or high cost of network measurements, or both, rendering traditional path finding methods inefficient. We find that shortest paths in large real networks, such as the network of protein-protein interactions (PPI) and the Internet at the autonomous system (AS) level, are not random but are organized according to latent-geometric rules. If nodes of these networks are mapped to points in latent hyperbolic spaces, shortest paths in them align along geodesic curves connecting endpoint nodes. We find that this alignment is sufficiently strong to allow for the identification of shortest path nodes even in the case of substantially incomplete networks. We demonstrate the utility of latent-geometric path finding in problems of cellular pathway reconstruction and communication security. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this study, we implement thiol termination on the surface of few-nanometer-sized silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles (NPs) to enable further applications, such as fluorescent biomarkers. Various spectroscopic techniques are employed to monitor the effectiveness of the surface treatment. Additionally, a thiol-Michael addition reaction is performed by conjugating 4-arm PEG-maleimide molecules to the thiol groups of SiC NPs, further demonstrating the reactivity of thiol-terminated SiC NPs. These thiolated SiC NPs, both with and without conjugated molecules, open new avenues in biotechnology. © 2025, CC BY.

Simulation of passive filter design to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED)

This paper discusses the design of a passive filter system for Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) using the MATLAB Simulink software. This type of lamp is a type of non-linear load that produces harmonics of current and voltage. However, this harmonic problem can be reduced using passive filters. To determine the size of the passive filter components, research was carried out in the form of measurements of power, power factor, voltage, current, THDi and THDv produced by the LHE and LED. The results of these measurements were simulated using MATLAB Simulink to determine the passive filter design that reduces the THD value on the LHE and LED. To reduce the level of current harmonics, a single tuned LC passive filter was designed. The filter, designed to work at a frequency of 50 Hz and is expected to reduce the level of harmonics in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th harmonic orders so that the THD produced by LHE and LED meets the IEEE 519-2014 standards. The simulation results of single tuned LC passive filter design can reduce THDi by 46.78% from the initial THD of 84.55% so that it becomes 37.77%.

A mid-level labor preparation having the qualification and competency appropriate with working world needs is a task from vocational secondary school (VSS). Now days, VSS become an attention by wide community, as a result of the existence of government policy which is trying to empowering vocational secondary education. The policy taken is by performing the revitalization of vocational school which has the aim to improve the quality of labor competitiveness. One of the programs is teacher quality improvement through various teacher training. However, relating to this case, it is suspected that the previous vocational school teacher training is less effective, so that it needs to be conducted the analysis about the teacher training implementation. Therefore, this article will be elaborated the ways needed to be conducted in improving the educational quality and vocational school teacher development training. The ways should be considered when it is planned and implemented the effective training program, such as: determining the needs, setting the goal, determining the content of learning, selecting the participants, determining the best schedule, selecting the appropriate facilities, selecting the proper instructor, selecting and preparing the audiovisual equipment, coordinating the program and evaluating the program.

At present, mobile stations have high data rates and high-speed of mobile stations (MS) such as high-speed trains. Therefore is the cause of frequent handover and handover fails. This makes communication interrupted a challenge to solve. The speed of the mobile station is also an important factor in starting the handover (HO) that should not be ignored. To handle delivery delays, this article proposes a new HO scheme. This scheme uses dynamic HO criteria that use techniques. Link-Going-Down (LGD) to determine the HO process. Starting this technique depends on the delivery time and the speed of the mobile device. Therefore, the HO process begins at the right time and the use of network resources has been improved to be more efficient and reduce interrupt time.
