For solving optimization problems, stochastic population-based nature-inspired algorithms use inspirations from nature. Despite their applicability in real-world environments, their bottleneck is high time complexity. Usually, they are searching for optimal solutions on computing devices of full computational power. However, in some situations, we deal with devices of limited computational power. Some examples of such devices are smartphones, which have been becoming very powerful for running various applications. However, there is still a lack of researches that would study the performance of nature-inspired algorithms on these devices. In this paper, we analyze the performance of one member of the nature-inspired algorithms, the so-called Bat algorithm, on the Android smartphone. Although smartphones nowadays offer a computational power comparable with the personal computer, we focus on the cheaper and older smartphones that are most widespread today. © 2018 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a singular spectrum analysis precoded deep learning architecture for forecasting a currency time series. The singular spectrum analysis is applied to extract the trend, fluctuation and noise components of the time series by means of the singular entropy. The deep learning architecture in the structure of the deep neural networks is used for model estimation and forecasting the components extracted from the time series. The performance in forecasting the THB/USD exchange rates in the currency exchange markets of the proposed singular spectrum analysis with deep neural networks architecture is provided and compared with that of the deep neural networks only.

Operation of an electric power system through a transmission network that has limited capacity can cause system instability when the system is disturbance. This study aims to investigate the influence of dynamic loads on the electric power system oscillation damping. The interaction between the electric power system and dynamic load after and before interference is simulated through Simulink Matlab. Dynamic load models are developed from the Hill model based on load power responses due to voltage changes. While the electric power system model is based on a model developed by Demello, which is a Single Machine Infinite Bus System. Based on the two models, an overall block diagram is made that illustrates the interaction between dynamic loads and the electric power system. The results showed that there was an increase in the stability of the electric power system with dynamic load feedback and a decrease in the rotor angle and increase in voltage. So that it can be concluded that changes in dynamic load parameters affect the stability of the electric power system. This study can be used as a basis for studying the behavior of electrical power systems that experience greater disturbance with load feedback.

Currently, the growth of information and technology is rapid. It makes a lot of things in various fields including education becoming more effective and efficient. In education, one of its implementation which is a game is proven to be a useful tool to support conventional teaching methods and bring a more natural understanding of learning materials. Moreover, as a product of the popular culture in modern society, video game mirrors the general culture practice in real life and reflects it via its own culture inside the game. This makes a video game can give a contribution to the social construction of reality as it affects the player's view towards learning in real life and vice versa. From there, we see that there is an opportunity for learning about religion to be supported by its utilization to provide an interactive and fun learning experience. In this paper, we discuss how a video game is implemented to support religious learning. The game was developed with the scrum method where we surveyed to gather the user requirements before the design step. The game design was made by using the use case diagram and storyboard, and it was built using Unity version 2017.3.0f3. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, a slotted non-persistent carrier sense multiple access (slotted np-CSMA) protocol using the semi-Markov graph representation is presented. CSMA is a random access protocol which has been widely used in packet communication systems. The main feature of CSMA development is that each link with a pair of transmitter-receiver senses the medium, then transmits a packet only if the medium is sensed idle. CSMA has been presented as random access protocols to avoid the packet collision using the absence of acknowledgment packet for the receiving station. There are different modeling of this protocol based on Markov chain. Note that the packet size is always unitary while the CSMA protocol is always Poisson-oriented. The semi-Markov graph-based analysis that is used to present for the performance of protocol. This paper presents the study about throughput of slotted np-CSMA systems for the offered traffic. Simulation results show that the maximum throughput of slotted np-CSMA using semi-Markov model achieves well performance in comparison with using Markov model related to lower propagation delay.

DEPSO-Scout is a hybrid optimization algorithm combining Differential Evolution (DE), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC). The solution convergence is balanced between exploration of PSO and exploitation from DE. The suboptimal solution has reduced by the scout bee property of ABC. DEPSO-Scout outperforms traditional DE, PSO, and ABC. However, in a higher dimension of search space, the accuracy of DEPSO-Scout is maintained while the search speed is significantly decreased. From the experiment, the computational time varies depending on the complexity of the problem. To improve the time-performance of DEPSO-Scout, the parallelization techniques becomes an interest. By modifying the DEPSO-Scout algorithm with the parallel approach, the speed of algorithm significantly improved while the correctness of solutions is maintained. The experiment and analysis of speedup and algorithm efficiency are discussed. The improvement opportunity of Parallel DEPSO-Scout is also discussed in the last section.

The carcinogenic bacterium Helicobacter pylori infect over half the global population, with a higher prevalence in low-income countries. It is linked to diseases such as chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The gold standard diagnostic method involves histopathological evaluation of gastric biopsy tissue via upper gastrointestinal endoscopy—an invasive, complex, and time-intensive procedure requiring specialized professionals. This study presents a noninvasive alternative: an impedimetric electrochemical biosensor for H. pylori antigen detection in saliva. The biosensor was developed using a screen-printed carbon electrode modified with polypyrrole nanotubes and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Monoclonal antibodies targeting CagA, a cytotoxic effector protein of H. pylori , were immobilized on carbon nanotubes using EDC/NHS chemistry. The platform was characterized via scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical techniques. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was employed for analyte detection, with an analytical curve constructed in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) spiked with CagA protein. The biosensor demonstrated a linear detection range of 0.5 pg mL⁻¹ to 3.3 ng mL⁻¹ and a detection limit of 109.9 fg mL⁻¹ . Validation with patient saliva samples, confirmed by histopathology and rapid urease testing, yielded 97 % accuracy, 80 % sensitivity, and 100 % specificity. Results were obtained within 15 min. This EIS-based biosensor offers a sensitive, innovative, and noninvasive platform for early H. pylori diagnosis, which is essential for preventing severe diseases such as gastric cancer.
