Electricity Savings Using Passive Filters

This study aims to provide knowledge in order to save electricity consumption. The use of electrical energy is recorded at KWH meters. Saving electricity means limiting the use of electrical energy according to need. The use of electrical energy is based on the use of electrical power. Technically, this dimmer serves to regulate the use of electrical power. Some electrical equipment has been equipped with dimmers to regulate the operation of the equipment in accordance with the user's want, yet there are still many electrical equipment that is not equipped with dimmers. This is a problem in the efforts to save electricity. The method used in this study is applying passive components in electricity such as inductors, capacitors and resistors. These passive components are arranged to be used as filter circuits. With a 21 mH inductor with an air core, Farad's 12.5 micro capacitor, and 4.7 ohm resistor can be made as a passive filter that is installed before electric loads. The use of this filter circuit can save the use of electricity up to 15% at a load current of 2 amperes. Thus, electricity bill payments can be reduced by up to 15%. In the future, this research can be continued to improve the efficiency of electricity consumption by modifying passive filters.

OBJECTIVE:Although unhealthy diets exacerbate nutritional and metabolic derangements in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), how therapeutic diets that possess a variety of different dietary strategies acutely modify diverse biochemical parameters related to cardiovascular disease remains underexplored. METHODS:Thirty-three adults with end-stage kidney disease undergoing thrice-weekly hemodialysis participated in a randomized crossover trial comparing a therapeutic diet with their usual diets for 7 days, separated by a 4-week washout period. The therapeutic diet was characterized by adequate calorie and protein amounts, natural food ingredients with a low phosphorus-to-protein ratio, higher portions of plant-based food, and high fiber content. The primary outcome measure was the mean difference in the change-from-baseline intact fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) level between the 2 diets. The other outcomes of interest included changes in mineral parameters, uremic toxins, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels. RESULTS:Compared with the usual diet, the therapeutic diet lowered intact FGF23 levels (P = .001), decreased serum phosphate levels (P < .001), reduced intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels (P = .003), lowered C-terminal FGF23 levels (P = .03), increased serum calcium levels (P = .01), and tended to lower total indoxyl sulfate levels (P = .07) but had no significant effect on hs-CRP levels. Among these changes, reduction in serum phosphate level achieved in 2 days, modifications of intact PTH and calcium levels in 5 days, and reductions in intact and C-terminal FGF23 levels in 7 days of therapeutic diet intervention. CONCLUSION:Within the 1-week intervention period, the dialysis-specific therapeutic diet rapidly reversed mineral abnormalities and tended to decrease total indoxyl sulfate levels in patients undergoing hemodialysis but had no effect on inflammation. Scientometrics and bibliometrics, the subfields of library and information science, deal with the quantity and quality of research outputs. Currently, various scientometric indices are being used to quantify and compare research outputs. The most widely known is the h-index. However, this index and its derivatives suffer from dependence on the mere count of a scholar's highly cited publications. To remedy this deficiency, we developed a novel index, the Universal Research Index (UR-Index) (https://***/UR-Index/) by which every single publication has its own impact on the total score. We developed this index by surveying international top 1 % cited scientists in various disciplines and included additional component variables such as publication type, leading role of a scholar, co-author count, and source metrics to this scientometric index. We acknowledge that unconscious biases built into the component variables included in the UR-Index might put research from specific groups at a disadvantage, thus continued efforts to improve equitable scholarly impact in science and academia are encouraged. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.

Study on estimating electric potential in space between parallel electrodes

We have been studying on estimating distribution of permittivity between measurement electrodes using capacitance and electric potential. Two arc electrodes were separated by long distance and there electrodes were surrounded by additional electrodes respectively. In past research work, we carried out numerical electric analysis for calculating the capacitance and electric potential using Finite Element Method(FEM) and compared with experimental and numerical results. The capacitance values were almost agree with experimental and numerical results. However, the electric potential values were different between experimental and numerical results in conventional studies. In this paper, we proposed an equivalent circuit including the stray capacity and measurement method for capacitance, the electric potential in space between long distance electrodes was estimeded. © 2018 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

The implementation of new technologies for agriculture has gained relevance in the agricultural sector. In this sense, during the last decade, the use of aerial images has allowed to study the different factors related to production with a high level of detail, unlike traditional monitoring techniques, since these allow large areas to be analyzed in a short time. Aerial images are commonly obtained from satellite platforms because they have a low cost, but low spatial and temporal resolution limit their use in agricultural applications. For this reason, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) has played a leading role in the study of agronomic variables of interest, because it allows obtaining information at any time and at a higher resolution. However, these images can offer more information that must be examined through a set of analysis techniques. An application that has been little explored corresponds to the population count, a factor that is determinant to obtain production estimates, but the difficulty to properly segment the rest of the information in the images has posed a challenge. For this reason, the following work presents a methodology based on spectral indices and digital image analysis to perform population counts in sunflower plants. Results indicate that it is possible to estimate the number of plants in the image with an error of 10%.

We have been studying on measuring capacitance and potential using long distance electrode for estimating a permittivity distribution. The estimating method of permittivity distribution was proposed using Finite Element Method (FEM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). However, the measurement accuracy was not reviewed. In this paper, we carried out numerical analysis using FEM in case of change of diameter, position and permittivity of a rod of dielectric and discussed the measurement accuracy of capacitance and potential. © 2018 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

Entering the industrial era 4.0, the role of the world of education is very important in forming graduates who are competent and can compete in the business world. Graduates are required to have understanding and expertise / skills in their respective fields. Therefore learning activities must innovate in meeting the demands of the workplace. One of them is by utilizing technological advances in learning activities in the form of learning applications based on project tasks. With this project-based blended learning model, students are trained to complete a project designed according to the needs of the industry / company and can take advantage of learning applications as learning media. Lecturers can monitor the development of projects carried out by students through learning applications, besides that this application can be used by lecturers and students to discuss when problems are encountered during learning activities. The assessment activities are not only from mastering the material but also from student project assignments. By giving projects to students, it can train students' ability to solve problems and do simple designs on computer networks. This learning model was implemented at STMIK Indonesia Padang in the Computer Network Design and Management course. The development of this project-based Blended Learning model was carried out using the Borg and Gall development model. From the results of the development produced a learning syntax of project-based blended learning models.

An econometric analysis of energy input in the agricultural sector and its impact on co2 emissions: a case of Indonesia

This study analyzes the impact of the energy input on the total production in the agricultural sector in Indonesia by using an econometric approach. Unlike in other studies, the total production in this study was measured in monetary unit (i.e., value added). The results show that if the energy input in the agricultural sector was increased by 1%, the agricultural productivity (the value added) would increase by 0.45%. This study also examines the factors which affect the total CO2 emissions due to the energy use in the sector by applying the extended Kaya model during 1990-2005. The results show that the value added was found to increase the total CO2 emissions during the periods of 1990-1995, 1996-2000, and 2001-2005. The energy intensity effect also contributed towards increasing CO2 emissions at each period except at the period of 2001 – 2005, while the contribution of the energy mix effect to the total CO2 emissions was neglible at all periods.

Speaking for artificial intelligence and mathematics, some will say that they are two different fields. But we can assure you that mathematical models are its foundations, especially the main subset machine learning. Investigating these models and algorithms, we have the possibility to predict the abilities and limitations of artificial intelligence. Utilization of super-recursive algorithms for proving theorems, makes many such systems complete and decidable. Here we will discuss the main differences of recursive and super-recursive algorithm in particular Turing machine and inductive Turing machine. Our main statement is that artificial intelligent based on inductive Turing machine is much more powerful and will greatly enhance machine learning capabilities. As theorem proving and logic used commonly in artificial intelligence, these results will have a very important role in its implications.

Small-cell network is a promising solution to high video traffic. However, with the increasing number of mobile devices, it cannot meet the requirements from all users. Thus, we propose a caching device-to-device (D2D) scheme for small-cell networks, in which caching placement and D2D establishment are combined. In this scheme, a limited cache is equipped at each user, and the popular files can be prefetched at the local cache during off-peak period. Thus, dense D2D connections can be established during peak time aided by these cached users. To do this, first, an optimal caching scheme is formulated according to the popularity to maximize the total offloading probability of the D2D system. Then, the sum rate of D2D links is analyzed in different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regions. Furthermore, three D2D-link scheduling schemes are proposed with the help of bipartite graph theory and Kuhn-Munkres algorithm for low, high and medium SNRs, respectively. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2018 IEEE.
