This article presents a new family of transformerless buck-boost voltage-source inverter topologies for photovoltaic systems. Due to variations in irradiance, temperature, and shading effects, the terminal voltages of photovoltaic panels can vary, making the use of buck-boost inverters crucial. The proposed topologies have a virtual-ground feature that effectively mitigates the common-mode voltage issue and results in low leakage current. The simple inductor-based proposed inverter can achieve a wide gain range. Also, other counterparts obtained from extending the underlying concept of the simple inductor-based proposed inverter, such as the switched inductor, three-winding coupled inductor, and series capacitor converters, are capable of achieving high boost voltage gain with lower duty ratios. Comprehensive circuit analyses are provided, along with simulation results, to confirm the operation of each proposed topology. Additionally, experiment findings for a 500-W prototype built on the simple inductor topology are presented to support the theoretical analysis and effectiveness of the proposed designs. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

This work presents a comprehensive exploration of sentiment analysis on social media data, with a specific focus on Twitter. The study evaluates three state-of-the-art classifiers-Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive Bayes (NB), and Random Forest (RF)-to categorize sentiments (positive, negative, neutral) based on specific criteria. Data cleansing and classification methods are applied to extract meaningful insights from unstructured social media data. Results show that SVM achieves the highest accuracy (92.67%) among the classifiers. It also discusses the strengths and limitations of each classifier in capturing the nuances of sentiment expressions. This work contributes to the understanding of sentiment analysis techniques on social media platforms © 2024 IEEE.

A key facilitating infrastructure for building intelligent structures that enable efficient in-person and virtual learning environments is the Internet of Things (IoT). The shift to smart learning, that includes IoT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational system, is enticing since it directly affects the motivation of learners, enrolment, participation, and in-depth understanding. Teaching and learning, management, examination, and class monitoring are only a few of the numerous issues that afflict conventional education. Many ingenious approaches to many facets of our lives are being made possible by modern advancements in information and communication technology (ICT);nonetheless, these imaginative concepts aren't adequately incorporated into the framework of education. The COVID-19 pandemic scenario, in specific, has brought out the need for innovative, creative approaches in the field of teaching. The present research examines previous investigations in the field and discusses the following topics: (i) issues with the current educational system and potential fixes;(ii) the shift to smart learning;and (iii) scientific hurdles (such as technological and cultural barriers) in making the move to smart learning. In accordance with these outcomes, creative approaches to the issues with the conventional system-such as smart teaching, smart evaluation, smart school environment, and smart management-are presented. The business and academic community may now include IoT, AI, and ICT into smart learning owing to the aforementioned experimental research's novel developments. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of new communication technologies requires new directive antenna systems to improve efficiency and security. In this work, a dielectric ring based on a gradedindex permittivity profile is proposed. It consists of six lens elements homogeneously distributed over the equatorial plane of an electric dipole, which acts as feed, and converts the electric field radiated by the latter in a multibeam radiation pattern, consisting of six directive beams equally spaced as the lenses. The antenna defines a set of stable communication channels in space, by isolating the other directions in order to minimize interferences and undesired interceptions. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to global warming and other human activities, the number of disasters such as building collapses, fires, earthquakes, terrorism, and wars is increasing day by day. Since it is not possible for conventional land vehicles to go through rough terrains, search and rescue robots are becoming more relevant these days. Search and rescue robots are equipped with tracks, enabling them to traverse rough terrains. Since such wheel-tracked robots have the advantages of wheeled and tracked robots, Search and rescue robots are widely studied by researchers worldwide. Also, these robots are equipped with flippers, which enable them to climb stairs and balance themselves in rough terrains. In this paper, static structural analysis of different parts of a search and rescue robot was performed in Ansys Workbench to ensure the robot can operate safely in complex terrains. The static structural analysis was performed at the drive coupler connecting the bevel gear to the flipper assembly of the search and rescue robot, the search and rescue robot bevel gear, and the frame of the search and rescue robot. The equivalent stress, equivalent strain, total deformation, and safety factors were analyzed. Static structural analysis reveals satisfactory safety margins in the search and rescue robot components except for the bevel gear, prompting the necessary redesign for enhanced strength and overall reliability. © 2024 IEEE.

The primary driving force behind the development of fifth-generation (5G) applications is the necessity of Concurrent Multipath Transfer (CMT). Nevertheless, CMT systems that rely on Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) will continue to be the key point in 5G as multipath transport protocols are not often utilized. In today’s worldwide networks, integrating TCP/IP with asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) is a difficult structural problem since the TCP/IP protocol has to accommodate the special features of ATM. An effective mechanism for the effective use of both approaches will be a detailed characterization of TCP/IP performance via ATM. ATM network performance may be negatively impacted by improper use of TCP error and flow control methods, which were created for best-effort networks. In order to facilitate effective communication, this article offers a comprehensive and standardized examination and analysis of TCP/IP over ATM in the context of the 5G network architecture. It also proposes a tuned energy efficient transmission control protocol (TEETCP) to enhance Quality of Service (QoS) in TCP/IP applications. The performance of the approach is validated against existing recent works based on evaluation metrics such as packet delivery ratio (PDR), average throughput (AP), end-to-end delay (e2e), utilization of energy and computation overhead. Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that significantly impacts motor function. Early detection is critical for effective intervention, yet traditional diagnostic methods often face limitations in accuracy and timeliness. This paper proposes a hybrid deep learning model combining EfficientNet, BiLSTM, and GANs to improve PD detection accuracy using medical images and sequential data. EfficientNet is employed for extracting features from MRI scans, while BiLSTM is used to analyze temporal data, such as gait and speech patterns, to capture the progressive changes associated with PD. Additionally, GANs are utilized to augment the dataset, addressing the challenges of data scarcity and imbalance. The fusion of spatial and temporal features enables a more comprehensive understanding of PD, improving diagnostic performance. Bayesian optimization is applied for hyperparameter tuning, and K-fold cross-validation ensures robust model evaluation. The results demonstrate that the hybrid model outperforms single-modal approaches in both classification and regression tasks, offering enhanced accuracy in detecting PD and predicting disease severity. Furthermore, interpretability techniques like Grad-CAM and attention mechanisms are incorporated to provide insights into the model's decision-making process. This work presents a promising approach for automating PD diagnosis and lays the groundwork for further research in multi-modal deep learning for disease detection. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper aims to implement and use the Spring Security framework to secure and authenticate the connection between a web application and the ESP32 device. In the context of a web application, by analyzing the integration of the Spring Security framework, it investigates the ways in which it manages the complex process of authentication and authorization, thus providing a secure and protected connection to an IoT device. Additionally, this study investigates the integration and use of the RTOS operating system to manage physical access in an IoT environment, in particular by implementing the opening of a door using tags. The mechanism described above leads to an additional level of security and control over physical access in an IoT ecosystem. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a simulation of a 4-bus power system network, inspired by the example in 'Power System Analysis' by J.J. Grainger and W.D. Stevenson. The simulation incorporates dynamic pricing, demand response mechanisms, and power flow analysis using Pandapower, an open-source Python library for power systems modeling. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how dynamic pricing and demand response can interact to balance generation and load in a power grid. By analyzing the effects of dynamic pricing on load profiles and generator outputs, this research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of demand response strategies and their potential benefits in enhancing grid stability and efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

This research introduces a novel micro-damper designed to mitigate pressure and velocity oscillations from a piezoelectric micropump in microfluidic environments. Unlike existing research focusing on damping in incompressible liquid flows with methods like elastic films and PDMS membranes, this study proposes a novel micro-damper prototype. Integrated into a microdevice for particle granulometric separation and detection, the damper connects to a piezoelectric micropump outlet and to a focusing microchannel inlet, followed by a capacitive sensor for size-based particle counting. Preliminary analysis determined an optimal airflow velocity at w = 0.5 m/s for accurate focusing and counting under laminar conditions. The micro-damper, constrained by the piezoelectric pump’s geometry, features a 27 µm high and 1000 µm wide cross section. Its outlet supports two potential focusing microchannel inlet configurations of 30 µm or 40 µm. Distinctively, it incorporates two symmetrical backward micro-channels connecting to the atmosphere, allowing direct piezometric contact between the main flow and an infinite compliant volume. OpenFOAM simulations confirm the damper’s effectiveness in maintaining laminar outlet flow and suppressing micropump disturbances. Thus, the proposed micro-damper ensures optimal inlet conditions for subsequent microchannel processes, enabling stable particle separation and detection in controlled airflow samples. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing.
