The palm oil industry contributes to produce Green House Gases (GHG) from the land conversion sector, energy use, industrial processes and residual waste from palm oil production. Energy is one of the important sectors in the inventory of GHG emissions. In energy consumption, GHGs are generated from the use of diesel fuel, burning shells and fiber. In addition to the use of diesel as its main fuel, shells and fiber are utilized for fuel. In this study, the calculation of the amount of emissions produced from palm oil mills in the energy sector was calculated according to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines Volume 2 Chapter 2 concerning the Stationary Combustion. The calculation results obtained by the average emissions produced in observed palm oil mill for the energy sector is 1,570,883 kg CO2/year or 1.5 Gg CO2/year. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

New trends for making an all-weather photovoltaic (PV) that is able to trigger by both sunlight and raindrops become trends in developing the solar energy systems to generate electricity for households, industries and buildings. The idea is to develop a hybrid device that harvests kinetic energy from water without destroying the output of the solar cell during sunny times. This paper reviews the two devices of hybrid sunlight and raindrops, namely are the Triboelectric Nano Generator (TENG) and Pseudo Capacitor Graphene Layer (PCGL), respectively. Both TENG and PCGL similarly in such way places two transparent polymer layers on top of PV cell. When raindrops fall on to the layers and then roll off, the friction generates a static electricity charge. In addition, these devices even could provide electricity at night whenever there is rain. These two trends of all-weather PV obviously have advantages and drawbacks, as they have been developed in order to make them more compact and efficient as the device that harvesting sunlight during dry seasons and rainfall during wet seasons both for days and nights. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper presents a prototype design and implementation of home users' postpaid electricity and water usage monitoring system. The system design is consisted of four main components such as Arduino UNO microcontroller and Bluetooth module, current and water flow sensors, RGB LED, and alarm buzzer. Current and water flow sensors will measure the current and water flow driven in installation. Measurement data will be sent to Arduino UNO as microcontroller. Arduino microcontroller will be reading and processing the data. If the current and water usage exceeds the predetermined limits, then microcontroller through Bluetooth module will trigger the RGB LED to light up and then buzzer will sound as a warning to notify users. Three different situations have been applied to test the device performance. The first two is for each electricity and water usage limits. And the third is when both utilities are combined simultaneously. Testing results show that for the first two, acceptable limits of electricity and water usage are at highest points (900 W and 3 L). But, for the third is varied according to the combination between electricity and water usage limits. These results showed that the prototype can be used as an energy monitoring system to warn and notify home users from monthly overdue consumption fees of postpaid electricity and water usage. But, this prototype still needs much improvements to be ready applied as a commercial device. © 2019 IEEE.

Video compression is commonly studied, and several standards have been established from multimedia companies. The 3D video signal contains of the conventional 2D video signal and depth video. In order to equip 3D video, depth video compression has been explored to unveil geometric information for synthesis virtual views. Conventional video compression is not allowed directly employed into genuine depth video because its characteristics which may influence in compression ratio and synthesis representation. Depth information is able to be implemented for several images processing implementations such as identification, segmentation and so on. Unfortunately, the problem happens in original depth video begins from acquisition process of depth video. This depth video is needed to be compressed for efficient network transmission, storage and power. In this working, will be shown utilizing median filter as pre-processing method dues to its unstable pixel values. Then, the output of pre-processing was submitted into H.264/AVC encoding tool. From experimental results, utilizing median filter as a preprocessing approached the quality of video compression up to 20 % compared to the output depth video without using median filter at all. © 2020 IEEE.

The consumption profile of electrical energy always increases every year due to the highly consumptive and inappropriate lifestyles of modern society. A bad lifestyle such as forgetting to turn off the unused electronic devices when they are leaving home is one of the factors influenced the increasing consumption of electrical energy. This is off course contributing in wasting energy. In the paper, an IoT-based electronic device control system has been successfully constructed. Monitoring and control tasks could be performed remotely and in real time mode using an interface application installed on a smartphone. The system built is equipped with a device operational condition monitoring featured by placing light, temperature, thermal and current sensors, respectively. Through the utilization of the implemented system, users can monitor and control electronic devices easily and can figure out the condition of the device remotely in a real time mode. The control test on the system was successful with an average response time of approximately 3.32 seconds and the accuracy of sensor readings above 89%. With the implementation of this system, users can easily monitor and control electronic devices anywhere and anytime so that the opportunities for efficient and effective use of electrical energy could be further optimized. © 2022. A physical model representing an underdamped free oscillation of a cantilever beam is constructed. The model is incorporated into a pSPICE Analog Behavioral Model (ABM) in order to construct a circuit schematic that generates a model-based waveform representing that of the experiment. A strain gage is employed to sense the change in strain in the oscillating cantilever beam. The frequency and damping ratio of oscillation of the cantilever are determined by means of curve fitting. Experiment and pSPICE ABM results show an excellent agreement. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper presents the smart parking system using NodeMCU ESP8266 for web-based car reservation in public areas. Conventional parking system made car users take a long time to find the parking in public areas like shopping centers or malls. Therefore, its necessary to overcome this problem by implementing the smart parking system of car reservation. The system prototype integrates the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, NodeMCU ESP8266 (microcontroller), Ultrasonic Sensor HC-SR04 (vehicle detector sensor in parking area), IR obstacle sensor (entry and exit), SG90 Servo (at the entry and exit gate) and Firebase to create a real-time database connected to a web platform. The system provides real-time slot availability information via the web platform and LCD as information at the entrance gate. Users can easily make and cancel reservations with additional features such as OTP verification, and automatic booking cancellation have been successfully implemented. The prototype test method consist of calibration test, sending OTP test, automatic booking cancellation test and manual booking cancellation test. The result of calibration test on 10 cm range have a 80% success rate for ultrasonic sensor 1 as well as the result of ultrasonic sensor 2. While, additional features test result such as sending OTP, automatic booking cancellation, and manual booking cancellation having 100% success rate. It can be concluded that this prototype is successfully implemented and reach the goals with minimum error can be tolerated. The authors suggest to adding a keypad and payment system to this prototype for improvement in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the design to the implementation of the proportional, integral and derivative (PID) remote control system of robot manipulator using Matlab-based Internet network. These studies seek the solution of distance operations, time constraints, and monitoring the operation response of robot manipulator motion as robot that possible to carry dangerous objects which is should be monitored remotely during the operation. PID control system that is controlled remotely by the client and server systems. The monitoring process of robot manipulator is Matlab-based. Testing is done by doing observation to the speed response of the DC motor as the robot's axis driver on open loop system condition, and then doing observation using PID control system. The test of axis robot driver has also been carried out with a variety of no-load and load conditions. The test results showed the motor driver of robot will work optimally when using PID control system. The data acquisition and the stability of data communication between the client and server are affected by the condition of the existing data transfer on the network and also the distance from the server to the plant. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A new scheme for adaptive neural networks for nonlinear dynamic system identification is proposed in this paper. The network of structure multi-layer perceptron with external recurrence is trained offline at first to get the initial network parameters. The parameters of the network are classified into short-term memory part and long-term memory part. The short-term memory part includes the parameters which are linear to the network output. In the implementation, the network is validated in each sampling time using a set of new measurement data. Training procedure will be executed if the model error exceeds a specified value and the short-term memory part will be adjusted. The application in modelling of room thermal behaviour demonstrates the performance of the proposed scheme. © 2013 IEEE.

A novel cost function to improve the performance of neural networks in system modelling is proposed in this paper, the exponential quadratic cost function. This cost function combines the strength of penalizing errors exponentially and the feasibility of quadratic function in finding global minima. By applying the exponential quadratic cost function, the learning algorithm is expected to have an improved ability to minimize the difference between system output and model output. Simulations by using a test system with strong nonlinear dynamics were conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed cost function. The results show that the network trained using the exponential quadratic cost function performs better in emulating the test system in transient region. © 2019 IEEE.
