In the year 2004, Outcome-Based Education (OBE) has been adopted by the engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) in accrediting electricalengineeringprogrammes for universities in Malaysia. To fulfill the requirement, faculty of electricalengineering (FEE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has taken necessary steps to implement OBE in each programme offered. An OBE measurement tool known as Summative Assessment Dynamic Model with OBE compliance (SAMOBEC 2.0) was developed by the faculty OBE Committees to facilitate lecturers to conduct their teaching and assessment activities in alignment with the course and programme outcomes. This paper focuses on analyzing the outcome of the course assessment of Modern Control Systems in electricalengineering using the available tool. It was found that the tool has provided detailed information from the designing phase until result achievements. From the available plots, the programme Outcomes of this course has yet to achieve the target set by the faculty. However, few recommendations has been made for continual improvements in the future.

This paper proposes a novel method for stable grasping and attitude regulation of an object using a multi-fingered hand-arm system. The proposed method is based on a simple sensory-feedback control using the information of an object attitude, and any mathematically complicated computation, such as calculation of inverse dynamics and kinematics, are not required. In addition, the stability of the overall system applied this method is verified. Firstly, nonholonomic rolling constraints between a multi-fingered hand-arm system and an object are formulated. Then, a novel control method for stable grasping and attitude regulation of the grasped object is proposed. It is assumed that information of the attitude of the object is available in real time by external sensors, such as vision, force, tactile sensors, and so on. Next, the stability of the overall system is verified by analyzing the closed-loop dynamics. Finally, it is demonstrated through numerical simulations that our proposed method enables to grasp the object with arbitrary shape, and regulate the attitude of the object stably.

Traditionally, the necessary and sufficient condition for any system to be oscillating is that its poles are located on the imaginary (jω) axis. In this paper, for the first time, we have shown that systems can oscillate with time-domain oscillating poles. The idea is verified using a Memristor based Wien oscillator. Sustained oscillations are observed without having the poles of the system fixed on the imaginary axis and the oscillating behavior of the system poles is reported. The oscillating resistance and triangular shape of FFT are also demonstrated with mathematical reasoning and simulation results to support the unusual and surprising characteristics.

A context-based 3D interpolation technique is proposed to enhance the out-of plane resolution of 3D medical images. The proposed technique represents a new approach of aiding 3D interpolation and improving its performance by efficient use of domain knowledge about the anatomy, objects and imaging modalities. In the new approach a family of adaptive 3D interpolation filters are designed and conditioned on different spatial contexts (classes of feature vectors). Training is used to incorporate the domain knowledge into the design of these interpolators. Experimental results show significant improvement of the new approach over some existing 3D interpolation techniques.

This paper describes analysis and control design of a distribution level static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) to control the voltage at the PCC in order to keep the power constant at the load from intermittent wind speeds. For fast response requirement, a feedforward compensation scheme is derived and employed in the paper. Firstly, the mathematical model of the DSTATCOM is derived. Then the compensation principle is described with applying RDFT in order to immune any undesired signals. Accordingly, a hardware prototype is built with a fix-point DSP TMS320F2812-based system. Use of a current-controlled PWM inverter as the power stage of the DSTATCOM generates needed compensation currents for real-time load compensation. Finally, experimental results confirm the performance of the proposed DSTATCOM.
