A context-based 3D interpolation technique is proposed to enhance the out-of plane resolution of 3D medical images. The proposed technique represents a new approach of aiding 3D interpolation and improving its performance by efficient use of domain knowledge about the anatomy, objects and imaging modalities. In the new approach a family of adaptive 3D interpolation filters are designed and conditioned on different spatial contexts (classes of feature vectors). Training is used to incorporate the domain knowledge into the design of these interpolators. Experimental results show significant improvement of the new approach over some existing 3D interpolation techniques.

This paper describes analysis and control design of a distribution level static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) to control the voltage at the PCC in order to keep the power constant at the load from intermittent wind speeds. For fast response requirement, a feedforward compensation scheme is derived and employed in the paper. Firstly, the mathematical model of the DSTATCOM is derived. Then the compensation principle is described with applying RDFT in order to immune any undesired signals. Accordingly, a hardware prototype is built with a fix-point DSP TMS320F2812-based system. Use of a current-controlled PWM inverter as the power stage of the DSTATCOM generates needed compensation currents for real-time load compensation. Finally, experimental results confirm the performance of the proposed DSTATCOM.

Repeated patterns are useful clues to learn previously unknown events in an unsupervised way. This paper presents a novel method that detects relatively long variable-length unknown repeated patterns in a motion sequence efficiently. The major contribution of the paper is two-fold: (1) Partly Locality Sensitive Hashing (PLSH) [1] is employed to find repeated patterns efficiently and (2) the problem of finding consecutive time frames that have a large number of repeated patterns is formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem which is solved via Dynamic programming (DP) in polynomial time O(N 1+1/α ) thanks to PLSH where N is the total amount of data. The proposed method was evaluated by detecting repeated interactions between objects in everyday manipulation tasks and outperformed previous methods in terms of accuracy or computational time.

The paper presents new realization of grounded and floating capacitance multiplier circuits using tunable four-terminal floating nullors (TFTFNs). The resulting capacitance value is electronically tunable by means of two bias currents. The grounded capacitance multiplier uses one TFTFN and one grounded capacitor and the floating capacitance multipliers use two TFTFNs and one capacitor. The parasitic impedance effects on the proposed circuit are investigated. PSPICE simulation results are included which verify the workability of the proposed circuits.

Biomass, solar, wind and hydro are four renewable energy resources enable people to provide energy by their own. The mapping describes three zones based on the dominant of the resources. Upstream of tributary zone at which the hydropower may supply energy for running micro hydro power plant. Agriculture and plantation zone produces plenty of biomass for steam turbine power plant. Estuary and coast line zone is the open area where solar radiation and wind speed are potentially able to be harnessed for producing electricity. Promoting energy diversification based on mapping data followed by implementing appropriate technology may give much benefit for sustainable development. A small scale hybrid model power plant is introduced.

This article presents a voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass functions), based on current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (CCCCTAs). The features of the circuit are that: the quality factor and pole frequency can be tuned orthogonally via the input bias currents: the circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely 3 CCCCTAs and 2 grounded capacitors. Without any external resistors, requiring no component matching conditions, and using only grounded elements, the proposed circuit is very appropriate to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the proposed circuit enables easy cascading in voltage-mode, due to high-input impedances. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The power consumption is approximately 4.08mW at ±2.5V power supply voltages.
