The utilization of cooling systems based on phase change materials has experienced a surge in popularity due to their ability to effectively reduce the temperature of photovoltaic (PV) modules. Phase change materials (PCMs) have been widely recognized as a highly efficient medium for thermal energy storage due to their ability to harness latent heat capacity. The low thermal conductivity of the material has been identified in many studies. In the current investigation, we have blended PCM with nanoparticles to enhance its thermal conductivity and electrical efficiency. We produce nanoparticle composited phase change materials (nc-PCMs) by combining lauric acid (LA) with three different nanoparticles: aluminum oxide (Al2O3), copper oxide (CuO), and magnesium oxide (MgO), in an optimal weight proportion of 94: 6. Lauric acid and these nanoparticles are chosen based on their ability to provide a significantly lower cost compared to commercial nanoparticles. Research has demonstrated that the incorporation of nanoparticles increases thermal conductivity, resulting in a decrease in the PV module's temperature. The findings indicate that a combination of LA and MgO in a proportion of 94: 6 constitutes the optimal nc-PCM. This composition demonstrated a 5.2 °C reduction in PV module temperature, which resulted in a notable enhancement in the average electrical efficiency of 14.11%. Furthermore, the power output increased significantly to 14.18%. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a diode-clamped linear amplifier (DCLA) using only n-channel MOSFETs applied by separated gate drive circuits. Conventional DCLA uses the source follower function of MOSFETs and therefore require an n-channel MOSFETs and a complementary p-channel MOSFETs. In addition, high voltage reference signals are required due to unity voltage gain. The proposed DCLA can be composed of only n-channel MOSFETs and directly controls the gate-source voltage of the MOSFETs resulting in low voltage drive signals. In this paper, the proposed circuit was experimentally verified using voltage feedback control, and it was confirmed that the efficiency was improved compared to conventional circuits and that the THD of the output voltage was approximately 2%.

Widyaiswara is required to show the best performance to fulfill his duties and obligations. Therefore, it is very important to measure the performance of the Widyaiswara, so that it can be used as evaluation material by the BPSDM PROVSU. However, the assessment process that occurs is still not precise and time-consuming. Therefore, to minimize this, a decision support system is needed that can minimize time errors and data processing in decision-making so that the assessment runs well and accurately. This system was built by applying the WASPAS method and the TOPSIS method. Based on the results of tests carried out five times, the results of the WASPAS method processing time resulted in an average processing time of 0.00029791 ms and an average memory usage value of 2.836.44 kb, while the results of the TOPSIS method processing time test resulted in an average processing time - an average of 0.000296428 ms and an average memory usage value of 2.862.34 kb. © 2022 IEEE.

The purpose of this research was to study the behavior of battery management systems (BMS) and to study the effect of charge and discharge of batteries using BMS with and without Active balancer. 1) Comparison of BMS case behavior and 2) Battery performance when BMS is connected to Active balancer. The experiments were divided into two methods, charge and discharge in the BMS only, and compared with systems with Active balancer, by determining current. Fixed in the experiment at a battery charge of 0.2-1C (1-5A), then the results of the two experiments were compared and analyzed on the advantages and disadvantages of the system. Research has shown that systems with Active balancer have a more significant effect on a battery charge than systems without Active balancer and the most efficient in use at 0.4C (2A). © 2022 IEEE.

In driving switched reluctance (SR) motors at high speeds, it is necessary to apply a high voltage during excitation and demagnetization. To clarify the usefulness of the proposed drive circuit, this paper focuses on the reduction of copper loss in motors and confirms the effect of copper loss reduction by comparing it with the conventional drive circuit. We also focused on capacitor voltage fluctuations caused by resonance phenomena and examined the effect of increasing torque by actively utilizing resonance phenomena.

The design and construction of delivering announcements using a web-based SMS gateway aims to help overcome problems that often occur at pioneer airports; this is because when passengers want to travel, many passengers still arrive late to check-in, even though the passenger ticket has a notification for checking. -in 1 hour before Departure. If a flight's Departure is delayed or accelerated, passengers will only receive this information when they arrive at the airport, whereas if at the time the departure notification is delayed or accelerated, the passenger is still outside the airport or still on their way to the airport, as a result, they will definitely not receive the information. Testing voice announcements on parking, arrival, departure, delay, check-in, and waiting room services, as well as testing SMS broadcasts (30 user numbers and one airline), shows that the announcement application provides information through voice data recording and broadcasts SMS to passengers and families. Testing was carried out at Indonesian Pioner airport for 30 passengers for a week. The percentage of Ease of obtaining test voice information was 81.98%, and the percentage of Ease of obtaining broadcast SMS information was 83.1%. Implementing the announcement is feasible at pioneer airports with a percentage of 82.54%.

The rapid population growth and industrial development in developing countries harm the agricultural sector because many agricultural lands are converted into residential or industrial areas. Applying modern agriculture technologies such as hydroponic could help to overcome the problem. However, hydroponics requires special attention in adjusting the pH and nutrient levels to maximize plant growth, so an automated system is needed to manage the process. In this research, a smart hydroponic system is proposed by applying Adaptive Networkbased Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Internet-of-Things. The IoT system consists of sensor, actuator, and data processing layer is designed to monitor and control the condition of pH and nutrition of the observed plants. Then, the ANFIS algorithm is designed to control the level of pH and nutrition. The experiment results show that the system can automatically adjust the pH and nutrient levels to the expected range for growing plants, and the fuzzy controller made using ANFIS are more accurate and stable than the fuzzy controller made using Sugeno. This study shows that ANFIS has excellent performance when controlling multiple actuators, as long as the data set has great granularity and well defined. © 2022 IEEE.

This research presents an evaluation of reliability improvement strategies for power distribution systems in a major urban center. Six specific activities have been chosen for consideration including 1) Conversion from overhead to underground distribution, 2) Replacing all bare conductors with spaced aerial cables, 3) Implementation of protective measures, such as animal guards, to cover all live components, 4) Deployment of overhead ground wires, 5) Installation of reclosers at the city’s periphery to prevent customer interruptions caused by external faults, and 6) Incorporation of load break switches equipped with a Fault Detection, Isolation, and Restoration system (FDIR). Later, the reliability evaluation is performed using the failure rates and repair times before and after improvement. The presented approach is illustrated through an actual distribution feeder supplying a major urban center. Subsequently, the paper quantifies the reliability benefits of those activities by measuring reductions in System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), and Customer-minutes of Interruption (CMI). Additionally, the cost-effectiveness of each activity is assessed and ranked, providing valuable guidance to planners in making informed investment decisions.

Network coverage prediction is an important aspect of 4G network planning and optimization. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the performance of various machine learning algorithms in predicting 4G network coverage. The data collected includes information on location, signal intensity, topography, and other important variables. Data pre-processing is performed to clean, normalize, and select relevant features. Next, we compared the performance of several machine learning algorithms, including Logistic Regression, KNN, Naïve Bayes, Decision Tree, SVM, XGBoost, AdaBoost, and Bayesian Network Classifier. The model training process is performed using subsets of training, validation, and testing data, with evaluation performed using various evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, RMSE, MAE, and R-squared. The experimental results show that Random Forest stands out with excellent performance, while Naïve Bayes tends to produce lower performance. The conclusion of this study provides valuable insights into the potential applications of machine learning algorithms in predicting 4G network coverage with accuracy and reliability.
