In the life insurance industry, determining the amount of premium paid by the insured to the insurer is crucial. This paper uses Stackelberg’s game theory to describe the reality that occurs between two parties involved in this business, i.e. the insured and the insurer. The insurer as a leader offers four different insurance products, and the insured as a follower has two strategies: (1) accepting or (2) rejecting one of the offered insurance products. The amount of premium is obtained by optimizing the insurer’s profit for each insurance product and the insured’s choice of strategy with a certain premium value limit. For the model formulation, the Indonesia Mortality Table IV is used as a guide to obtaining the parameters of the Makeham and Gompertz distribution (survival) functions. The developed model can determine (1) the amount of premium for each insurance product offered, (2) the expectation of insureds who will purchase each insurance product, and (3) the maximum profit for each of the two parties. A genetic algorithm is used to obtain the best solution. The result shows that the third insurance product, which uses Makeham distribution and offers two types of benefits, is preferred by the two parties involved. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This study examined the effect of Zn2+ ion substitution on ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) towards signal Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). The co-precipitation method synthesised the nanoparticles at a temperature of 90°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results showed a polycrystalline structure with a crystallite size varied from 19.05 nm to 19.77 nm. In addition, as the Zn element increased in the ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles, the degree of crystallinity increased by 21.72%, respectively. The optical properties of the nanoparticles ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 indicate absorbance at wavelengths of 330.36–331.74 nm. The absorbance level increased as the Zn element decreased, resulting a direct optical gap of 3.47 eV and an indirect optical gap of 3.23 eV. The Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) curve in the SPR biosensor indicated a shift in the reflective angle of the Prism/Au/Air configuration, which is 47.78° on Prisma/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4/air by 50.75°, and the prism/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.2Mn0.8Fe2 O4/air by 51.04°. The substitution of Zn ions in the compound Zn x Mn(1-x)Fe2O4 affects the resulting ATR curve. The shift in the SPR angle is caused by changes in the refractive index in each layer which is influenced by the concentration of each material which has an impact on the absorbance ability and photon reflectance. This research has the potential to continue with the testing of dielectric and magnetic properties, as well as special testing for biological analytes compatible with ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This paper presents an off-board charger system for any electric vehicle based on a single-stage power converter operation that performs as a three-phase pulse width modulation rectifier. To enhance the safety issue by itself, a step-down transformer with galvanic isolation is added. Additionally, the off-board charger system allows bidirectional power flow in both grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and vehicle-to-grid operations. To analyze this system, only G2V operation is shown by comparing a two-level power converter charger with a three-level neutral point clamped power converter charger. In light of its controller, the off-board charger is designed to charge a battery in constant current and constant voltage mode in compliance with Level 2 of charging power. Based on this controller, it can support grid power quality under a unity power factor. Simulation-based verification is conducted on a maximum power rating of 22 kW to claim the performance of steady-state operation and dynamic operation. © 2023 IEEE.

Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population, so the potential for Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) funding is enormous. The existence of ZIS in the current Covid-19 pandemic is of extreme importance, as issues such as economic crisis, social inequality, and the rise of dhuafa (poor) are becoming more and more visible. However, in the presence of coronavirus, ZIS has become more challenging to manage and distribute. Bans on gatherings, distancing rules, and other restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus make ZIS more challenging to manage. Therefore, we need innovations to build bridges between people in need and supporters. The Internet of Things (IoT) is one system that can bridge this. In this system, IoT enables machine-to-machine communication and reduces human interaction. This research uses IoT to support Rice Vending Machine with high accuracy. The accuracy is achieved using five load cells and a good rice way-out valve mechanism. In previous machines using a single load cell or open the valve according to a certain time. Based on its test results analysis and MAPE values, we found the machine's accuracy facing obtained very well, and the website monitoring was also very effective. This research provides innovation in ZIS management and dramatically benefits society. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the control of three-level PWM committed to a three-level twelve-switch inverter-fed induction motor drive. The proposed control is totally capable of extracting the maximum DC utilization with the classical continuous and discontinuous PWM. Moreover, in the light of the multi-level inherency, the low switching frequency is attractive to this application to avoid the high power losses, while it can maintain the stability of the operation. Regardless of the single or double carrier waves, optimized switching states associated with the proposed logical operation part, which is responsible for obtaining the multi-level characteristic of the inverter, are also proposed. Importantly, through the MATLAB/Simulink program, the steady-state and dynamic response of the high-performance drive with the classically indirect vector control are definitely investigated to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents an on-board integrated charger for electric vehicles (EVs) based on an open-end winding AC machine. To reduce weight, volume, and costs, including additional space area in EVs, the main component of the traction system is utilized as a part of the charger system, i.e., the wound rotor open-end winding AC machine fed by a dual converter with a single battery source. In charging operation, the rotor winding side of the AC machine is at standstill and reconfigured through magnetic contactors to interface with the three-phase utility grid, whereas the stator winding side is still connected to the converters. It performs as a transformer isolated by itself. On the other hand, the rotor windings are shorted together for the driving operation. Besides, the charger system assists the stability of the utility grid by consuming constant power, absorbing maximum power rated at 22 kW. To enhance excellent control, the modulation strategy of the dual converter is determined by means of different phase angles of 120° As a result, the differential-mode voltage problem is suppressed. The simulation results are validated to confirm the performance of the proposed system. © 2023 IEEE.

Electronic devices have become an integral component in our daily activities. In fact, the consumption of electrical energy in households reached 49% in 2018, and is expected to increase to 58% in 2050. Concurrently, the LPG is the second highest consumed energy in the household and is expected to increase to 37% in 2050. However, the devices utilizing these energies could lead to a danger such as housefire if not operated and treated carefully. An Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart home monitoring system would solve this problem, especially by effectively monitoring several parameters in the house simultaneously. In this study, a system is built to monitor and control three rooms in the house independently and simultaneously. The sensors and/or actuators in all rooms are controlled by NodeMCU ESP8266s. All microcontrollers are linked via the Internet to a local server, where all data is analyzed, saved, and transmitted to the user using the MQTT protocol. The monitoring is done by the user via MQTT dashboard in the smartphone. Following testing, the three microcontrollers are fully capable of exchanging data with the user's smartphone. The humidity changed by 1%, while the temperature changed by 0.1 °C. Perfect data interchange is possible between the relays, flame, gas, and movement activity sensor. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital picture or image becomes more and more important in people's daily life, such as for administration, documentation, active communications, and learning processes. People also demand the exchange of information through digital applications and social media. Taking picture or photo of a document, book, certificate, or thing is usually done by the help of digital scanner, but not all these stuffs can be converted into digital with a scanner. In specific condition people need real image transfer and will take photo of the real view directly using their own digital camera or smartphone camera. From author experience and observations, when taking photos of a document or book or certificate or thing normally with plastic cover or glass surface or bouncing surface, we clearly got an annoying light came from the camera focus light or flash that usually creates noise and messy image. This research was conducted based on the idea to remove or avoid getting the unwanted or disturbing light while taking photos of glossy or bouncing surfaces. A procedure to get a clear and smooth image instead of noise and broken image was derived and implemented by author using light guiding and image warping. These two methods bring accurate images that are necessary for communication needs and facilitate better future works without compromising security policies and people's rights. As the research methodology, author performed literature study, observation, analysis, and implementation. The result of this research offers a good procedure and method that can help people getting clear photos or pictures of a glossy or bouncing surface, advance research to be implemented related to camera technology, and best comprehension to improve photography techniques for future developments. © 2022 ACM.

The representatives of student associations at Private University are entrusted with the responsibility of empowering, facilitating, and nurturing the growth of the students, lecturers, and alumni within their respective programs. If the elected representatives do not align with the general consensus, problems are bound to arise. Therefore, student participation during the annual voting period is of utmost importance. When voting participation is low, the risk of the majority voice not being heard increases. Data from the General Election Commission in the private university reveals that among the four student associations in the Tech and IT faculty, three of them have a participation rate lower than 50%.This research aims to develop an E-Voting system for Student Associations within the university, with the intention of replacing the currently utilized Google Form system and enhancing student participation in future voting periods. While constructing an electronic voting system, the security and confidentiality of participants are vital. The Paillier homomorphic encryption algorithm is employed in the system to encrypt and decrypt voting messages sent by voters, ensuring their confidentiality. This algorithm was chosen due to its relative recency, speed, and relevance to this research in comparison to other algorithms. A user acceptance test conducted using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has demonstrated that the application has been successfully developed, with user assessments of 87.50% for perceived ease of use, 72.27% for perceived usefulness, 74.74% for behavioral intention, and 86.46% for actual usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence was recently implemented in various fields. One of these applied artificial intelligence systems was the Performance Monitoring System "SiMoniK"for MSMEs. This system was designed through the C4.5 algorithm and the Porat-Rank method. The C4.5 algorithm was applied to classify the MSMEs into three classifications, e.g. the micro enterprise classification, the small enterprise classification, and the medium enterprise classification. Moreover, the Porat-Rank method was also applied to distribute the solving-problem recommendations and to improve the independence of MSMEs. The result of this study was that the C4.5 algorithm could classify the MSME data correctly in the form of an accuracy value of 99.2%. Besides, the Porat-Rank method could also provide recommendations in the form of outstanding quality with an NDCG mean value of 0.87. © 2023 IEEE.
