Outlier detection is a challenging problem due to the complexity of real-life data. Specifically, an effective outlier detection method should be able to handle (1) different types of outliers: local outliers, global outliers, and cluster outliers;(2) a lack of prior knowledge of outlier number or percentage;(3) neighboring clusters with different densities;and (4) real-time detection. Unfortunately, few algorithms can tackle all these challenges simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a chain-based theory to address these issues, where a minority of data points will be considered outliers if their distances from normal data points change abruptly. We present the parallel chaining method based on this theory. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits comparable performance to other state-of-the-art methods in the synthetic datasets and outperform other methods in the real-life datasets. © 2023 IEEE.

DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) occur frequently in eukaryotic cells, and the homologous recombination pathway (HR) is one of the major pathways required to repair these breaks. However, tumor cells that are able to repair DSBs are unlikely to die due to damage incurred by DNA damaging chemotherapies, such as platinum compounds. While platinum-based therapies have been effective in treating various cancers, they also carry harsh side effects, and thus ideally platinum should be used when the probability of treatment resistance is low. HR scores provide a measure for patients' tumor's HR capacity and have been shown to predict their chemotherapy response and long-term survival. Calculating this score manually from immunofluorescence microscopy images for each patient is error-prone and time-consuming. Herein, we propose an image processing pipeline that takes as input imaging data from three emission channels (representing nuclei, S-phase cells, and HR-mediated repair in a tumor slice) from an epifluorescence microscope and computes the HR score. Our open-source methodology forms a rationale to develop similar approaches in predicting chemotherapeutic responses and facilitating to make treatment decisions. © 2022 ACM.

In this paper, the computation of a slip position is introduced for the grid-flux oriented control of a grid-connected doubly fed induction generator. For the DC excitation process in the rotor-side converter, the stator voltage is built at the stator terminals, which is related to the shaft speed and magnetizing current. Therefore, the corrected rotor electrical and slip angular speeds are received. Again, for the AC excitation process, the condition of the synchronizing is proposed by checking the slip position between estimated and real slip angles. If it is matching at the zero angles, the DC excitation is changed to the AC excitation with the real slip angle;in addition, the induced stator voltage and frequency are completely synchronized with the utility grid. For the grid-connected operation, the dq-axes rotor currents are also proposed to regulate the grid-flux and to control the electromagnetic torque. To assess the performance of the proposed control algorithm, computer modeling is developed, the simulation results are provided. © 2020 IEEE.

A manipulator robot is a robot that has a mechanical system consisting of an arrangement of arms and joints that can produce controlled movements. A robotic arm usually consists of several joints including the base, shoulder, elbow, roll, gripper, and pitch of the gripper. Robot movement is generated from mathematical calculations performed in the controller. The motion of the manipulator robot follows a motion trajectory. The motion trajectory is made based on a collection of stop points and effectors. This study aims to create a robot motion trajectory design system using Lagrange interpolation. Lagrange interpolation is engineered to be embedded in precise microcontroller control systems. In this study, an Arduino Uno R3-based microcontroller was used as a data acquisition module. Prediction of the robotic arm's trajectory has been successfully made using Lagrange interpolation. The rise time is 15 seconds, the delay time is 12 seconds, the steady-state time and the peak time are 21 seconds. While the second experiment increased 9 seconds, 7 seconds of delay, steady-state time, and 13 seconds of peak time. Then for the third experiment, the rise time is 17 seconds, the delay time is 14 seconds, the steady-state time and the peak time are 22 seconds, the overshoot value and the steady-state error value is 0% where the output value produced is by the input value.

Fabrication of PSf/P84-blended membranes with low P84 content: Characteristics and gas separation performance

The demand for efficient and sustainable gas separation technologies is ever-increasing in various industries, including petrochemicals, natural gas processing, and carbon capture. Polymer-based membranes offer a promising solution due to their potential for high selectivity and energy efficiency. However, achieving optimal gas separation performance often requires overcoming the limitations of individual polymers through modifications such as polymer blending. In this study, PSf/P84 blended membranes with low P84 content were fabricated using the phase separation technique with a mixture of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and tetrahydrofuran as solvents. The effect of varying the mass ratio of PSf to P84 on membrane characteristics and gas separation performance was investigated. Characterization techniques included FTIR, XRD, SEM, TGA, Water Contact Angle (WCA) measurement, and mechanical property testing. Gas permeation tests were conducted with single gases at room temperature and 1 bar pressure. The results revealed that the addition of P84 increased membrane thickness, Young's modulus, and thermal stability, while decreasing d-spacing, dense layer thickness, hydrophilicity, tensile strength, and elongation. The F_index values, indicating the competence of the blended membranes compared to the ideal quality, demonstrated the positive impact of P84 addition on gas separation performance compared to pure PSf membranes. The optimal gas separation selectivity was achieved with the PSf/P84 1:0.025 blended membrane for H₂/CH₄ (11.28, 58 % increase), H₂/CO₂ (6.25, 193 % increase), and H₂/N₂ (5.25, 35 % increase). The highest N₂/CH₄ selectivity (6.29, 253 % increase) was observed with the 1:0.10 composition. Regarding commercially relevant separations based on the 2008 Robeson curve, the PSf/P84 1:0.20 blend showed promise for H₂/CO₂ separation, while the 1:0.

Red Kupang (Musculista senhausia) is one of the fisheries resources included in the bivalve class. Red Kupang is commonly found in the waters of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, and the coast of the Madura Strait. The nutritional components contained in red mussel meat include 75.48% water content, 1.93% ash content, 15.02% protein, 6.17% fat, and 1.41% carbohydrate. The nutrient content of red mussels that can be utilized is protein. So that red mussels can be used as an alternative source of animal protein. For this reason, this research is carried out namely isolation of proteins against red mussels. Isolation can be carried out by means of extraction, where the pH and time of extraction affect this process. The research began with washing and drying the red mussels at 40oC until a constant weight ( 6 hours) was obtained. The second stage is making red mussel flour with 60 mesh particle size. The third step is the isolation of red mussel protein by extraction process that is 50 grams of red mussel flour homogenized in aquadest with a ratio of 1:10 w / v, then extraction is carried out at an alkaline pH (pH: 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13). at a temperature of 40 oC using a hot plate stirrer for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes. The results obtained the best conditions at pH 11 and 50 minutes extraction time with a protein content of 72.70%. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Purpose: Vibrotactile stimulation has been shown to improve sensorimotor integration in the central nervous system, thereby enhancing motor performance in several conditions. Here we aim to address two questions: (1) Would lateral asymmetries yielding handedness influence the force control improvement induced by sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation? (2) Does the force control improvement depend on finding an optimum stimulus intensity? Methods: Eleven participants performed a visually guided force-matching task, while different intensities of sinusoidal vibrations were applied to the index finger skin. Tasks consisted of abductions of the index fingers of dominant and non-dominant hands at 5% of their maximal voluntary contractions. The force coefficient of variation (CoV) in the condition without vibration was used as the reference (control) for later comparison with five vibration intensities. Also, force CoV in the control condition was compared with those obtained from the optimal vibration selected either from both hands or from a single hand (the one that started the experiment). Results: Despite the known sensory asymmetries in cortical and spinal circuits, handedness did not significantly influence the improvement of force control induced by sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation during low-intensity contractions. Moreover, there was a significant reduction in force variability irrespective of the criteria used to select the vibration intensity. Conclusion: These findings add to the current knowledge on the effects of sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation on force control and have potential implications for the development of wearable motor enhancer devices. © 2020, Sociedade Brasileira de Engenharia Biomedica.

This paper presents a solution for counting fruit in agricultural greenhouses using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV s). Initially, a heuristic based on Simulated Annealing was used to optimize the UAV's trajectory, ensuring efficient coverage of the beds. Next, digital image processing (DIP) techniques were implemented to count the fruit, including depth segmentation, application of bounding boxes, color filtering, and element counting. The DIP accuracy was evaluated in multiple scenarios and the results indicate high reliability in fruit counting, with the potential to optimize agricultural operations and provide valuable information to producers. Possible future improvements could include further refinements in image processing to increase the accuracy of counting other fruits. Ultimately, this work contributes to the advancement of automation in agriculture by offering a viable and efficient solution for counting fruit in greenhouses using UAV s.

Artificial support material was examined to determine the removal capacity of organic pollutants and nutrients on laboratory scale using PFR system. The experiment was performed using artificial water with similar characteristics to Cikapayang River in three PFRs of 10.78 L. The PFRs were made of PVC pipes filled with an inert chemical substrate as an artificial support material. The process of pollutants removal in the PFR relies on a biological layer (biofilm) grown on the surface of the material support. Three type of C:N:P ratio used in this study were 30:15:1, 75:25:2, and 180:35:3. The results showed that the maximum removal efficiency of TSS, TN, TP, and COD in the preliminary tests were 85%, 87%, 71% and 79%, respectively. Moreover, the maximum water absorption capacity result was up to 30.8%. Organic substrate removal rate compared with first order and Strover-Kincannon substrate removal models prediction. The best fit model for this experiment was Stover-Kincannon model, with the average correlation coefficient up to 90% for all of the three reactors. SEM analysis shown that the microorganisms shape is coccus with the average size of 5 μm. © 2020 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

The Covid-19 pandemic has emphasized the critical role of mask-wearing in reducing virus transmission. However, declining public awareness necessitates effective monitoring solutions. This study explores the Single Shot Multibox Detector (SSD) approach, a Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)-based object detection method, for mask detection. Specifically, we investigate the performance of the SSD model with the ResNet50 architecture as the base network. Through the analysis of a dataset comprising 1000 images of individuals wearing and not wearing masks, the SSD model with ResNet50 achieves an impressive accuracy of 98.23%, surpassing the VGG16-based model's accuracy of 93.56%. These findings underscore the superiority of the CNN-based SSD model with ResNet50 for mask detection. Moreover, they have significant implications for real-time monitoring and enforcing mask-wearing protocols, emphasizing the importance of public awareness and adherence. Leveraging advanced AI techniques, such as CNN-based object detection with SSD, strengthens public health initiatives. The development of robust and efficient mask detection systems contributes to creating a safer environment amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This research highlights the value of harnessing these advanced technologies to effectively address public health crises. By employing CNN-based SSD with ResNet50, society can enhance its ability to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
