In this study, the optical and morphological properties of germanium oxide (GeO2) thin films have been investigated by experimental and theoretical methods. The films were produced by reactive radio frequency magnetron sputtering (RFMS) under varying oxygen partial pressures ratio to the total pressure, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%. The optical and structural properties of the films grown have been studied experimentally and theoretical calculations have been presented using density functional theory (DFT). As the x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis is considered, Ge (111) peak has been observed in the films produced at 2% oxygen partial pressure ratio compared to all the other films has determined to be amorphous. Except for 2% film, the other films were annealed at 900oC, and as a result, GeO2 (101), GeO2 (110), GeO2 (102) and GeO2 (111) peaks were observed. The 2% film was annealed at different annealing temperatures (800, 850, 900, 950oC). As a result, the crystal property has changed compared to the others. It was found that the optical properties of the films grown are strongly dependent on the O2 pressures used. Although the 8% film has a fairly sharp absorption edge, the others are bad. The energy band gap increased with increasing oxygen. After annealing at 900oC, the absorption edge of the films showed a sharp behavior except 4%. There are Ge-O-Ge antisymmetric stretching peaks appeared at 861.51 cm-1, 949.94 cm-1 and symmetric stretching of hexagonal peaks at 516.34 cm-1, 546.29 cm-1, 581.95 cm-1. Recently, it was found that the case of knee injuries could reach a prevalence of 48 per 1000 peoples in one year, with 9% being categorized as Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries. The most common cause of ACL injuries is sports activities. Several strategies were used to heal this injury, such as a treatment, up to autographs bone graft surgery. Current research developments lead to the use of artificial ligaments to heal the ACL injuries which have many advantages over autografts. Thus, this present study aims to fabricate the artificial ligament using hydroxyapatite (HA)/collagen/polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofiber composites. Here, we try to determine the effect of variations of HA, collagen, and PCL compositions in the nanofiber composites by studying their crystal structure and mechanical properties (tensile strength). We use variations of PCL: HA: collagen compositions about of 50:45:5, 50:40:10, 50:35:15, 50:30:20, and 50:25:25 wt%, respectively, in the 10% w/v of solution concentrations. In this present research, the nanofiber was fabricated by using electrospinning method with a voltage of 23 kV, while, the distance between the needle and the collector of about of 15 cm. The XRD and tensile strength tests were used to study the effects of PCL: HA: collagen compositions. In the XRD test, we found that the PCL peaks were detected at 2θ = 21° and 23° and HA was found at 2θ = 31°. The PCL crystal size is found to be 47.82-86.87 nm and the degree of crystallinity is 24.31-36.87%. In the mechanical test, the Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) value was obtained in the range of 0.942 MPa-2.864 MPa. It was found that the PCL could increase the tensile strength. However, the obtained UTS value is still far from the UTS of the original human ACL value.

The dehydration of ethanol into diethyl ether over a SO4/SiO2 catalyst was investigated. The SO4/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by the sulfation method using 1, 2, and 3 M of sulfuric acid (SS1, SS2, and SS3) via hydrothermal treatment. This study is focused on the synthesis of a SO4/SiO2 catalyst with high total acidity that can be subsequently utilized to convert ethanol into diethyl ether. The total acidity test revealed that the sulfation process increased the total acidity of SiO2. The SS2 catalyst (with 2 M sulfuric acid) displayed the highest total acidity of 7.77 mmol/g, whereas the SiO2 total acidity was only 0.11 mmol/g. Meanwhile, the SS3 catalyst (with 3 M sulfuric acid) has a lower total acidity of 7.09 mmol/g due to the distribution of sulfate groups on the surface having reached its optimum condition. The crystallinity and structure of the SS2 catalyst were not affected by the hydrothermal treatment or the sulfate process on silica. Furthermore, The SS2 catalyst characteristics in the presence of sulfate lead to a flaky surface in the morphology and non-uniform particle size. In addition, the surface area and pore volume of the SS2 catalyst decreased (482.56–172.26 m2/g) and (0.297–0.253 cc/g), respectively, because of the presence of sulfate on the silica surface. The SS2 catalyst's pore shape information explains the formation of non-uniform pore sizes and shapes. Finally, the activity and selectivity of SO4/SiO2 catalysts in the conversion of ethanol to diethyl ether yielded the highest ethanol conversion of 70.01% and diethyl ether product of 9.05% from the SS2 catalyst (the catalyst with the highest total acidity). Variations in temperature reaction conditions (175–225 °C) show an optimum reaction temperature to produce diethyl ether at 200 °C (11.36%). © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The development of an engaging demonstration video for making shredded chicken

The research aims at developing a learning video to make shredded chicken and testing its feasibility. This video demonstrates the steps of product making. This research can be categorized as research and development (R&D) with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The video was taken with multiple camera angles and completed with text annotation, picture, animation, music, and voice lay-over. The were collected through interviews and questionnaires for feasibility testing. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The stage of define was a needs analysis, while the design stage consisted of testing recipes, scriptwriting, selection of presenters, talents, dubber, and the video team and preparing tools and materials. The develop stage covered the process of shooting, recording, editing, and feasibility test by two material experts and a media expert. Meanwhile, the disseminate stage referred to the feasibility test among 30 students of State Vocational High School 1 Cangkringan, and the video dissemination was done through the YouTube channel. The feasibility test result based on the material experts was 90.96%, based on the media expert was 98.96%, and from the students was 85.35%, respectively. It means that this video is declared very suitable to be used as a learning medium.

Generation Z has a preference for individual learning using information and communication technology. Generation Z prefers digital audio-visual media to verbal media. The study aimed to develop a demonstration video in the subject of make-up puff pastry for Pastry and Bakery course and assess the video feasibility. This study was a research & development (R & D) approach using 4D (define, design, develop, and disseminate) models. Problem, student, and curriculum analysis was performed in the define stage. Video scriptwriting and the production team selection were performed in the design stage. Develop stage consisted of video shooting, video editing, video revision, and assessment. The shooting was accomplished using Sony A6000 16-50 mm camera, Bestluck New Pro F600 lighting with ellipsoidal reflector, Libec 650EX tripod, and Zhiyun Crane V2 stabilizer. Voice was recorded using Boya Clip-on wireless microphone. The audio was edited using Adobe Audition 2017 and the video was compiled using Adobe Premiere pro CC 2017. In the disseminate stage, the video was uploaded to YouTube channel Boga UNY. Based on the feasibility assessment by 2 material experts, a media expert, and 31 potential users, the video was considered very feasible as learning media.

Generation Z uses technology frequently and demands learning that is individualized, engaging, digital, and visually based. They prefer learning videos to learn about the product making process. The research objectives were to develop the video of making mango sorbet for the Agriculture Product Processing course and evaluate the feasibility of the video. This was a research & development (R&D) study using 4D models (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The video was captured using Sony NX100 camera and Kino Flo 6-bank lighting. The presenter and voice-over dubber's sound were recorded using Boya BY WM8 wireless microphone. The video was edited by Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017. The video had a duration of 14 minutes 29 seconds with mp4 format. The video consisted of the opening section, the content section, and the closing section. The opening and closing section were delivered by the presenter. The content section was demonstrated by an actress and voice-over dubber. The video feasibility was evaluated by 2 material experts, a media expert, and 30 students of Vocational High School (VHS) 1 Cangkringan. The data were analysed descriptively. According to the feasibility evaluation, the making mango sorbet video was considered to be very feasible to be utilized as a learning media.

The student of vocational high school nowadays are classified as generation Z. They are common to use information and communication technology. They prefer audio-visual learning media rather than podcast recording or text media. This study aimed to develop a video on making dry banana for the Agriculture Product Processing course and assessing the video's feasibility. This study was a research & development (R&D) study using the 4D (define, design, develop, and disseminate) approach. Analysis of content, curriculum, and student needs was carried out in the define stage. The scriptwriting and production team selection was conducted in the design stage. Video recording, editing, and feasibility test from experts were performed in the development stage. The video was evaluated by two content experts and one media expert. In the disseminate stage, thirty students as prospective consumers evaluated the video feasibility. The data were analyzed descriptively. The video was in the mp4 format and had a duration of 13 minuter and 13 seconds. The video has been provided with high-definition images, captions, pictures, 2D animations, transitions, and effects. The experts and the students rated this video to be very feasible to be used as instructional media.

Developing an engaging whiteboard animation video for vitamins

Whiteboard animation videos are engaging learning media for Generation Z. This study aimed to develop and assess the feasibility of a whiteboard animation video for vitamin in the Nutrition science subject for class X culinary vocational school. This study was research and development using a 4D approach (define, design, develop, disseminate). The define stage analyzed the curriculum, material, student character, learning media, and school facilities. The design stage included the writing and assessing the material, the writing and assessing of storyboards, and production team selection. The develop stage was making a video and assessing the feasibility. Animation images were created using Paint Tool Sai. Image conversion from JPEG to SVG was performed with Inkscape. The dubber's voice was recorded with Universal Audio using the Apollo Twin audio interface and Avantone CV12 microphone. The audio was edited in Pro Tools 2020.9. To produce a whiteboard animation video, animation images, captions, dubber's voice, and back sound were combined with VideoScribe. Videos used mpg format. In order to maintain video duration below 10 minutes, the video was divided into two parts. The assessment of video feasibility was carried out by one media expert and two content experts. The assessment of feasibility at the disseminate stage was carried out to 30 users. Based on the feasibility assessment, this video was very suitable to be applied as a learning medium.

Higher education is an education unit that organizes higher education. College students are called students, while college educators are called lecturers. Higher education as a place of learning and self-development Students provide facilities to improve student achievement in the form of student achievement scholarships. This scholarship program is expected to stimulate students' interest in learning to be better. In determining scholarship recipients, the student division selects prospective scholarship recipients based on existing criteria. In the selection process, the student division has difficulty choosing the data of prospective recipients. Because each type of scholarship criteria and has different criteria weights. Calculation of the value of weighting criteria requires precision. Based on the problems that occur, the author designed a decision support system to determine the recipients of achievement scholarships using the SAW method. This system can help student affairs to carry out criteria for recipients of achievement scholarships based on administrative data of prospective scholarship recipients in determining criteria for weighting value calculations. With this system, it can minimize errors to determine prospective scholarship recipients who excel. After testing the use of support systems for deciding scholarship decisions using the SAW method, it can be concluded that a decision support system can assist the student's part in carrying out their duties. © 2019 IEEE.

Precious metals offer lucrative investments appealing to investors globally, leading to a surge in demand for accurate forecasts. Published literature for prediction applications often employs Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), possessing desirable generalization over nonlinear data and design flexibility. Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are a class of ANNs designed for time series forecasts providing superior approximations. Nonlinear Autoregressive with Exogenous input (NARX) is an RNN model with high memory retention properties, applied in this study to predict ten assets from the precious metal futures market, for three-month predictions (April 2021-June 2021). Network inputs are evaluated through feature selection to filter uncorrelated factors from the network dataset. Accuracy of prediction is enhanced through multi-objective Response Surface Methodology (RSM) optimization, as several variables characterize RNN performance. Three key variables are selected for analysis through RSM, providing optimum configuration to obtain targeted outcome. Simulation results reveal that five assets produce acceptable result, showing an improved fitness through RSM-suggested configurations. Observations indicate intercorrelation between RSM inputs, highlighting its efficiency over conventional methods. Implementing additional RSM inputs to develop more complex models might achieve further reliability. This research provides performance improvement measures for RNNs utilized in financial data projections.
