Community empowerment through development of biogas installation with fixed dome plant technology in Kenteng Village, Nogosari District, Boyolali Regency

Kenteng Village has the potential for beef development due to its high cattle population. However, cow dung waste produced by farmers has not been optimally used, hence its additional benefits have not contributed to the community's economy. This has also led to environmental pollution due to improper waste management. Therefore, empowerment efforts are needed to improve farmers' knowledge and skills in managing livestock manure to increase their income and create environmentally friendly conditions through training activities on the manufacture of organic bio-slurry fertilizer as well as maintenance and construction of biogas installations using fixed dome plant technology. Furthermore, the training was held from August 15-September 26, 2021, in Kenteng Village, Nogosari District, Boyolali Regency. The empowerment program is implemented through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), extension, training, demonstration plots on the production technology of organic fertilizer and biogas for fuel production. Materials used in producing the fertilizer include slurry obtained from biogas waste and agricultural lime/dolomite. The dome plant constructed contains a digester with 6 main parts, namely inlet, reactor, gas reservoir, outlet, gas transport system and compost pits for degassed animal manure/bio-slurry. The training result shows an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills on the application of bio-slurry organic fertilizer production technology and the construction of biogas installations as a fuel producer. There was also an increase in their income, which improved their standard of living. Conclusively, the community in Kenteng Village was more empowered by the existence of a biogas installation development program.

This paper provides an H2 optimal scheme for reducing diffusively coupled second-order systems evolving over undirected networks. The aim is to find a reduced-order model that not only approximates the input-output mapping of the original system but also preserves crucial structures, such as the second-order form, asymptotically stability, and diffusive couplings. To this end, an H2 optimal approach based on a convex relaxation is used to reduce the dimension, yielding a lower order asymptotically stable approximation of the original second-order network system. Then, a novel graph reconstruction approach is employed to convert the obtained model to a reduced system that is interpretable as an undirected diffusively coupled network. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated via a large-scale networked mass-spring-damper system. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Polarization entanglement holds significant importance for photonic quantum technologies. Recently emerging subwavelength nonlinear quantum light sources, e.g., GaP and LiNbO3 thin films, benefiting from the relaxed phase-matching constraints and volume confinement, has shown intriguing properties, such as high-dimensional hyperentanglement and robust entanglement anti-degradation. Van der Waals (vdW) NbOCl2 crystal, renowned for its superior optical nonlinearities, has emerged as one of ideal candidates for ultrathin quantum light sources [Nature 613, 53 (2023)]. However, polarization-entanglement is inaccessible in NbOCl2 crystal due to its unfavorable nonlinear susceptibility tensor. Here, by leveraging the twist-stacking degree of freedom inherently in vdW systems, we showcase the preparation of tunable polarization entanglement and quantum Bell states. Our work not only provides a new and tunable polarization-entangled vdW photon-pair source, but also introduces a new knob in engineering the entanglement state of quantum light at the nanoscale. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Identification of the quality of premium and non-premium rice based on physical characteristics using artificial neural networks and digital image processing

Counterfeiting of quality rice was rife in Indonesia. This research was conducted to develop technology to identify differences in premium and non-premium rice quality based on pre-existing digital images. Artificial neural networks and digital image processing methods to identify premium and medium (non-premium) rice quality were applied in this research. Statistical analysis of this study used the SPSS program. This research is observation-type research. This research design uses an artificial neural network with uses 3 layers, namely the results of shape feature extraction on the metric, eccentricity, area, and perimeter parameters as input or input layers, hidden or hidden layers, and premium rice and non-premium (medium) rice as output or output layers. This research uses 52 images as training and 20 images as testing. The obtained image was taken at a distance of 25 cm. This research showed that the results of training using artificial neural networks (ANN) on 52 images obtained an accuracy of 92%. The test results using 20 images obtained 95% accuracy, 63.33% sensitivity, and 10% specificity. Based on statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test, it obtained the asymph value. Sig (2-tailed) < 0.05 indicates the difference between premium and non-premium rice using metric, eccentricity, perimeter, and area parameters.

The dynamics of a particle propagating in free space is described by its position and momentum, where quantum mechanics prohibits the simultaneous identification of two non-commutative physical quantities. Recently, a lower bound on the probability of finding a particle after propagating for a given time has been derived for well-defined initial constraints on position and momentum under the assumption that particles travel in straight lines. Here, we investigate this lower limit experimentally with photons. We prepared a superposition of position and momentum states by using slits, lenses and an interferometer, and observed a quantum interference between position and momentum. The lower bound was then evaluated using the initial state and the result was 5.9% below this classical bound. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The potential of coffee waste composting technology using microbial activators to reduce solid waste in the coffee industry

The coffee industry in Sidoarjo produces coffee waste as coffee ground, coffee husk, and coffee return with the solid waste generation of about 5044.3 Tons/year. The coffee waste characters resemble organic waste, so it has potential as a composted raw material. This study aims to determine the selected variation raw material composition from the coffee industry based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) Number 10-7030-2004 and the recycle potency of the coffee industry solid waste using composting technology. The research variables are the modified composting method (open windrow composting and Bacary Italian) and the co-composting method. The result of this research for all treatments showed that the concentration range of pH value 6.92-9.54, moisture 34.78-66.60%, C-organic 17.75-33.82%, N 1.45-2.93%, C/N ratio 10-13, P2O5 0.13-0.31%, and K2O 0.89-2.89%. The selected variation raw material composition of bio compost based on the compliance to SNI 10-7030-2004, which is 1.5 kg coffee ground + 1.35 coffee return + 0.15 kg coffee husk + 3 mL EM4 (K10). Based on K10 as the selected variation raw material composition of bio compost, the coffee industry solid waste recyclable is coffee ground 0.64%, coffee husk 0.20% and returned coffee 100%.

General higher-order breather and rogue wave (RW) solutions to the two-component long wave–short wave resonance interaction (2-LSRI) model are derived via the bilinear Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy reduction method and are given in terms of determinants. Under particular parametric conditions, the breather solutions can reduce to homoclinic orbits, or a mixture of breathers and homoclinic orbits. There are three families of RW solutions, which correspond to a simple root, two simple roots, and a double root of an algebraic equation related to the dimension reduction procedure. The first family of RW solutions consists of N(N+1)2 bounded fundamental RWs, the second family is composed of N1(N1+1)2 bounded fundamental RWs co-2 existing with another N2(N2+1)2 fundamental RWs of different bounded state (N, N1, N2 being 2 positive integers), while the third one have [N12 + N22 - N1(N2 - 1)] fundamental bounded RWs (N1, N2 being non-negative integers). The second family can be regarded as the superpositions of the first family, while the third family can be the degenerate case of the first family under particular parameter choices. Circular economy of bio compost from coffee waste to support sustainable development goals in alleviating poverty in communities around the Sidoarjo coffee industry

In 2016-2021, coffee consumption in Indonesia was predicted to increase by 120,000 tons, impacting the increase of coffee waste. Several large coffee industries in Indonesia are located in Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency. The character of the coffee skin waste contains 44.87% organic C; N of 1.69%; P of 0.18%; K 2.49%, and C / N ratio 10-14. This value indicates that the waste can be used as compost because it meets the criteria in SNI 19-7030-2004 concerning Compost from Organic Waste. This narrative review aims to determine the circular economy of bio compost from the coffee industry solid waste to support SDGs point 1 in alleviating poverty in communities around the Sidoarjo coffee industry. The research results showed bio compost I and II is the alternative product in the circular economy (W11). The coffee waste, coffee ground, coffee skin, and coffee returned collects waste in the circular economy (W10). The raw material composition of Bio compost I such as 1.5 kg coffee ground: 1.35 kg of coffee returned:0.15 kg coffee skin+3mL of EM4 and Bio compost II such as 4.6 kg SCG's:0. 4 kg coffee skin+5 ml EM4. In practice, the circular economy of bio compost I and II can involve Farmer Groups or Youth Organizations around the industry in Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency. Based on data 2020, the total members are 113 people, producing compost of 72,435.5 kg/month with a sales profit of IDR 36,217,750. This practice can support the first point of the SDGs, namely poverty alleviation for communities around the coffee industry. However, studies on the exact circular economy pattern of coffee waste in the Sidoarjo Regency are still needed.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel produced by chemical reaction between vegetable oil or animal fat with alcohol and catalyst. The preliminary treatment in extraction of biodiesel feedstock is an important process to obtain maximum yield of crude oil. This study aims to find optimal preliminary treatment on extraction of Kemiri Sunan seed in order to produce crude oil with maximum yield and quality. The research investigated the effects of screw press machine rotation and duration of steaming process. Three levels of duration of steaming used were 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Observations of crude oil yield, moisture content, free fatty acid content, kinematic viscosity, density and color were done. The result suggested that the rotation of screw press machine affected the crude oil yield. The duration of steaming process affected the oil yield, free fatty acid content, kinematic viscosity, density and color. The best oil yield result of 70.3% was obtained from the combination of heating duration of 60' and screw rotation of 25 RPM. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. The results of a fast and precise classification can be a fundamental objective of reference. Histological assessment is valuable information for doctors. The most common assessment for histological assessment of prostate cancer is the Gleason Grading System. Gleason pattern detection was done by extracting morphological features in the form of Line Length, Area Fraction, and the comparison between Line Length and Area Fraction. All morphological features become the input of backpropagation. Based on the results of backpropagation testing, this method can classify Gleason pattern images with an accuracy of 91.67%. The threshold of segmentation in determining the lumen and nucleus did not have a specific range in its threshold due to the lack of uniform contrast in each image.
