Activated carbon is a versatile porous material that widely applied to purify, deodorize, decolorize, remove or reduce some gases harmful constituents and storage of gas. For different application different characteristics of activated carbon is required. This paper concerns to find out the characteristics of activated carbons derived from tabah bamboo (Gigantochloc nigrociliata) that physically activated with different activation holding time. Prepared tabah bamboo was carbonized by heating up to the temperature of 800 °C for two hours. The char produced was powdered and then activated physically by heating up to 800 °C, soaked at that temperature during each 1, 1.5 and 2 hours under 100 mL/min N2 flow. Activated carbons manufactured were characterized by proximate and ultimate analyses and SEM observation. The results show that the highest fix carbon (82.52%) and lowest ash (5.91 %) was obtained at 1 hour soaking time with moisture and volatile contents were 3.56% and 8.00 % respectively;the highest carbon (C) content of 84.16 % was yielded at soaked time of 1.5 hours;SEM observation shows that there were significant differences of morphology structure between raw material and activated carbons for all of the soaking time variations. Root canal treatment failures generally caused by microorganisms that have ability to invade dentinal tubules. Chlorhexidine is widely known to effectively eradicate broad spectrum bacteria that infected dentinal tubules. The delivery of chlorhexidine to the infected site of root canal still becomes an issue. In order to increase the stability and to regulate the release of chlorhexidine, encapsulation of chlorhexidine digluconate was conducted by employing nanocellulose and alginate nanocomposites. Nanocellulose was prepared from palm kernel cake using acid hydrolysis method. Transmission electron microscopy images showed the formation of whisker and fiber nanocellulose with the average diameter of 20 nm. Resulting nanocellulose was combined with alginate in the presence of Ca2+ crosslinker. Scanning electron microscopy images displayed sphere and oval morphologies of microcapsules with diameter of 500 nm. The microcapsules were further loaded with chlorhexidine digluconate 2% (w/v). In vitro drug release properties were evaluated in PBS at pH 7.4 (normal tooth environment) and at pH 5.5 (infected tooth environment). The UV-VIS results showed that chlorhexidine digluconate has higher release rate at pH 5.5 than at pH 7.4, suggesting that the microcapsule is a good candidate for the delivery of chlorhexidine digluconate to the infected root canal tooth environment. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A mid-level labor preparation having the qualification and competency appropriate with working world needs is a task from vocational secondary school (VSS). Now days, VSS become an attention by wide community, as a result of the existence of government policy which is trying to empowering vocational secondary education. The policy taken is by performing the revitalization of vocational school which has the aim to improve the quality of labor competitiveness. One of the programs is teacher quality improvement through various teacher training. However, relating to this case, it is suspected that the previous vocational school teacher training is less effective, so that it needs to be conducted the analysis about the teacher training implementation. Therefore, this article will be elaborated the ways needed to be conducted in improving the educational quality and vocational school teacher development training. The ways should be considered when it is planned and implemented the effective training program, such as: determining the needs, setting the goal, determining the content of learning, selecting the participants, determining the best schedule, selecting the appropriate facilities, selecting the proper instructor, selecting and preparing the audiovisual equipment, coordinating the program and evaluating the program.

Simulation of passive filter design to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED)

This paper discusses the design of a passive filter system for Energy-Saving Lamps (LHE) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) using the MATLAB Simulink software. This type of lamp is a type of non-linear load that produces harmonics of current and voltage. However, this harmonic problem can be reduced using passive filters. To determine the size of the passive filter components, research was carried out in the form of measurements of power, power factor, voltage, current, THDi and THDv produced by the LHE and LED. The results of these measurements were simulated using MATLAB Simulink to determine the passive filter design that reduces the THD value on the LHE and LED. To reduce the level of current harmonics, a single tuned LC passive filter was designed. The filter, designed to work at a frequency of 50 Hz and is expected to reduce the level of harmonics in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th harmonic orders so that the THD produced by LHE and LED meets the IEEE 519-2014 standards. The simulation results of single tuned LC passive filter design can reduce THDi by 46.78% from the initial THD of 84.55% so that it becomes 37.77%.

An integrated waste management system requires baseline data, including waste generation analysis, composition density, and waste characteristics. Baseline data is needed to determine the proper waste management strategy. This research was conducted by measuring directly from the source of waste carried out by stratified sampling following SNI 19-3964-1994. The location of the study was carried out in Tanjung and Gangga districts because this location is considered to represent North Lombok Regency. The research was conducted using 100 samples of household waste. The study results on the composition of waste in the North Lombok Regency consisted of organic waste, plastic waste, paper, cloth, wood, glass, metal, and rubber waste. The dominant composition is organic waste. The characteristics of waste in the North Lombok Regency have a higher water content than the water content of waste in general. All the characteristics tested indicate that the waste in North Lombok Regency requires several treatments before processing waste, such as reducing the water content and increasing the C/N ratio. Based on the characteristics and composition of the waste, composting or incineration is the suitable waste management method in North Lombok Regency.

There are many uses of natural ingredients to find out their potential in overcoming Coronavirus Disease 2019. One of the plants that is often used to treat various diseases, including SARS-Cov2 infection is turmeric. Turmeric contains Tetrahydroxycurcumin compounds. The aim of this research was to study the potential of Tetrahydroxycurcumin in preventing infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The results showed that Tetrahydroxicurcumin has the potential to inhibit Tyrosine protein kinase ABL1, which is a protein that plays a role in the preparation of the cytoskeleton during viral infection. The binding affinity of Tetrahydroxycurcumin for this protein is -8.4 kcal/mol.

Solar dryer is typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia. There are many economically important crops requiring storage or drying under particular environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. High temperatures inside solar dryer prevents the growth of microorganism, and quickly reduce moisture content from the substance. A hybrid solar dryer is generally considered to provide the most optimum solution, however solar panels may be expensive and they still only provide heat or energy in the daytime. Hence, we propose here a new kind of hybrid solar dryer for 24/7 optimum conditions for crops - enabled by recent advances in energy technologies as well as Industry 4.0. This study aims to create an efficient, affordable and a self-sufficient intelligent energy system that will be applied to agriculture for storage or drying purposes by measuring the energy needs for the optimal drying system. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate and assess the critical energy needs for such new systems in order to optimize and design such smart solar dryer (SSD) system especially for Indonesia's agricultural needs. We use design experience of our industry partner (PT Impack Pratama Industri, Indonesia) who has been working extensively on such solar dryer dome (SDD) based on polycarbonate material (only solar irradiation, no other technologies) and theoretical framework based on first principles in thermodynamics to estimate and assess critical energy needs for such dome with all the smart technologies. The calculation was performed based on Mollier diagram and the result still a rough estimation of energy required.

The Prospect of Geotourism in the Cycloop Mountains Conservation Area Papua

The Cycloop mountains in Papua are a nature reserve conservation area that has diverse geology, biology and culture. This paper discusses the prospects of geotourism in Cycloop mountains based on a method of analyzing the community acceptability and tourists preferences, likewise the geosite attraction and geotourism sustainability. The results of analysis indicates that a) village communities in surrounding conservation area accept and wish to get involved in natural activities; b) local tourists are very dominant and motivated on outdoor recreation in groups; c) identified geosites has classified as from Quite Interesting to Interesting based on the index of attractiveness; and d) geotourism activity in the mountains Cycloop is categorized Quite Sustainable reviewed from the environment, society, economy and governance dimension. The exploration and the geological conservation to be the reliable activities in organizing the geotourism. Geotourism is likely to be applied to the conservation area as a form of implementation of the sustainable tourism concept.

Big data technology is the overall technology that can handle the processing associated with analyzing the data to explore the potential that is in it. Some of the uses of big data are based on the biggest data traffic sources, such as social media, financial transactions, public data, censorship data, and company data. The problem found in the accumulation of village status data that has not been utilized in the decision-making process to determine the status of the next village and the absence of an application to process the data stored in the data database so that a tool is developed to analyze the buildup. The results of this study are to produce a prototype design that is Unified Modeling Language (UML) design, Form Design, and Database Design that will be used to develop Big Data Technology in determining the classification of village status based on the Village Build index.

Big data refers to big data, fast data processing, diversity of data structures, and data values so that it is not possible to be processed with outdated methods. Big data technology is used in various industrial sectors. Big data technology is the whole technology that can handle Big Data. Some of the uses of big data are based on the largest significant data traffic sources such as social media, financial transactions, public data, sensor data, and corporate data. The same is the case with the status of so many villages in Indonesia, so it is better to use big data for the classification of village status based on the village index build by involving an algorithm process. This research aims to produce a description of the role of big data in supporting activities in a grouping. The method used is a qualitative approach related to data collection based on scientific work with the source of data information needed to study literature techniques from various studies that have been published in national and international journals. A decision is made that big data has been widely used in different circles to facilitate performance and speed up the decision-making process.
