Weather prediction system and recommendation of plant varieties as an effort to minimize harvest failure with android-based Backpropagation Artificial Neural Networks

Based on Malang Regency agriculture data in 2017 presented by the Head of the Agriculture and Food Crops and Horticulture Office (DPTPH), there was a 2.5% decrease in yields. One hectare of paddy land can produce 7.71 tons during normal weather, but currently only produces 6.9 tons per hectare. Three farmers' groups in Malang Regency (2018), are of the opinion that the current weather greatly influences crop failure. Weather prediction used so far using conventional benchmarks for planting, is no longer relevant to current reality. These estimates are often incorrect, resulting in crop failures, which have an impact on the farmer's economy. This study aims to make the application of weather prediction systems and recommendations for suitable planting varieties based on data on temperature, humidity, time of sun exposure, wind speed, and rainfall using Backpropagation ANN method. Data used for Karangploso District weather prediction from 2009-2018. While the variables used in the application of Backpropagation ANN: temperature, humidity, time of sun exposure, wind speed, and rainfall. For output, the prediction of rainfall in the next 12 months and planting of varieties in accordance with the predicted rainfall, OPT and land type. From the calculation results of this application the MSE error value of 0.0299 is obtained.

In our previous study, a taste sensor modified with 3-bromo-2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid (3-Br-2,6-DHBA) exhibited significant responses to xanthine-based substances, suggesting an allosteric detection mechanism. This study investigates the potential of the 3-Br-2,6-DHBA-modified sensor membrane for detecting other drug classes. Eleven structurally diverse drugs—including caffeine, antibiotics, antivirals, analgesic-antipyretics from the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for Children—were tested, as they were previously undetectable by a conventional bitterness sensor. Among them, amoxicillin, an oral broad-spectrum penicillin, and cefalexin, an oral cephalosporin, elicited significantly higher sensor responses when 3-Br-2,6-DHBA-modified membrane was used. To further examine this response, experiments were conducted using membranes modified with 3-Br-2,6-DHBA, 2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,6-DHBA), and benzoic acid. These tests confirmed that only 3-Br-2,6-DHBA-modified membrane produced significant responses to amoxicillin and cefalexin, suggesting that hydroxyl groups in 3-Br-2,6-DHBA contribute to allosteric effects via hydrogen bonding. Additional tests demonstrated higher responses for cefaclor and cefdinir, both oral cephalosporins. The interaction between 3-Br-2,6-DHBA and the beta-lactam ring, as well as adjacent five- or six-membered rings in amoxicillin and several oral cephalosporins, likely enables allosteric detection by stacking via π electron, hydrophobilc interaction, and hydrogen bonding. In conclusion, the 3-Br-2,6-DHBA-modified sensor membrane effectively detects amoxicillin and oral cephalosporins via allosteric mechanism. © 2025 by the authors.

We theoretically study and successfully observe the evolution of Gaussian and Airy surface gravity water wave packets propagating in an effective linear potential. This potential results from a homogeneous and time-dependent flow created by a computer-controlled water pump. For both wave packets we measure the amplitudes and the cubic phases appearing due to the linear potential. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the self-acceleration of the Airy surface gravity water wave packets can be completely canceled by a linear potential.

Changes in electroencephalography complexity of acute Ischemic stroke: A fuzzy approximate entropy analysis

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the world. The previous study had shown that EEG (Electroencephalogram) was a promising tool to detect stroke since it is non-invasive and cheap. So, the EEG analysis method needs to be more explored to give an accurate prognosis assessment. Previously, complexity analysis, such as Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn), had been successfully differentiated between control and patients with Alzheimer's Disease. Thus, this study used fApEn to analyse the changes of electroencephalography complexity in Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) during hyperventilation and photic stimulation, which are a general protocol to investigate the abnormality in EEG. Photic stimulation conducted using white light that flashed with frequency 5Hz, 10Hz, and 15Hz consecutively for three minutes and then continued by hyperventilation for three minutes, approximately. This study compared the fApEn value from healthy subjects with AIS patients. The result showed that patient with AIS tended to conduct the lower and higher fApEn value compared to the healthy subject. The lower value of fApEn occurred because of the presence of the slow-waves on the EEG, while the higher fApEn indicated the epileptiform activity during the recording. The increment of the slow-waves and the presence of epileptiform activity could be considered as the characteristic of stroke even though its appearance is uncertain. However, complexity analysis of EEG could be useful in differentiating the healthy subject and patient with stroke or classifying the severity level of the stroke to improve stroke management.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is a navigation system that uses satellite signals to determine its position, which consists of several satellites arranged in a constellation system. GNSS transmits signals to receivers on Earth. The GNSS receiver determines the user's position, speed, and time by processing the signals transmitted by the satellites. The initial purpose of launching the GNSS was for navigation purposes, but along with its development, GNSS can be used for the purposes of observing deformation of the earth's crust and in studying the atmosphere. The delayed wave data when passing through the ionosphere can be used to obtain Total Electron Content (TEC) values which then used to study ionospheric disturbances. Ionospheric disturbances are caused by various phenomena, the most common one is the ionospheric disturbances caused by the induction of acoustic and gravitational waves excited by co seismic crustal motions from large earthquakes. Ionospheric disturbances that happened before an earthquake are called Pre-seismic Ionospheric Disturbances and those that occur after an earthquake are called Co-seismic Ionospheric Disturbances (CID). Most studies of ionospheric disturbances still provide information on the timing and value of TEC anomalies in 2D form. Therefore, in this study, a 3D ionosphere profile modelling using computed 3D tomography will be carried out. The 3D information provided is in the form of time, ionosphere altitude and TEC anomaly value by utilizing GNSS data. The TEC anomaly value is obtained from the calculation of linear combination of the ionosphere. This study aims to obtain a spatial and temporal analysis of the CID caused by the West Sumatra Earthquake on March 2, 2016.

A comparison on the use of Perlin-noise and Gaussian noise based augmentation on X-ray classification of lung cancer patient

The use of deep learning in medical image classification has become an important study in the past few years. The proper use of this method, however, is still hindered by many problems, one of it being the imbalance of dataset available for training which resulted in small-set database. In this study, the effect of noise-based augmentation on the performance of deep learning based classification will be studied. The noises which were used for the augmentation method were Perlin-noise and Gaussian noise. The modality of medical image used in this study is X-ray. 174 X-ray images (87 cancer, 87 normal) were used in this study and will be classified by using transfer learning from previously trained deep learning architecture. The deep learning architecture used was vgg-19. The images were divided into two groups, 138 (69 cancer, 69 normal) images were used for training phase and 36 (18 cancer, 18 normal) were images used for testing phase. Three deep learning models were used for the classification tasks, the first one was retrained to classify the original images, the second one was retrained by using mix of original images and images with Perlin-noise, and the third one was retrained by using mix of original images and images with Gaussian noise. The results showed that the three models returned similar accuracy of 0.8 which indicate that the use of noise-based augmentation can increase the performance of deep learning in classifying medical images with small set training database.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the coonstriped,Pandalus hypsinotuswas determined by the MiSeq sequencing platform. The mitogenome ofP. hypsinotus(15,909 bp) encoded the 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, non-coding, control region (D-Loop). Phylogenetic analysis based on the full mitochondrial genome sequences showed thatP. hypsinotusis most closely related toP. borealis(86%) clustering together withChlorotocus crassicornisin Pandalidae. The complete mitogenome sequence ofP. hypsinotuswould contribute to the scientific management for conservation of its resources in East/Japan Sea.

Integration of Satellite-Derived Bathymetry and Sounding Data in Providing Continuous and Detailed Bathymetric Information

A hydrographic survey can be a cumbersome sometimes. The data can be sparse, providing it can be costly, and it took a lot of manpower and time. Space-borne data like multispectral images can be a helpful tool towards hydrographic survey, especially in the shallow water area. The company like EOMAP and TCARTA make use of Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) as a tool and product. Would it be great if it also can be applied in Malaysia, especially on the low-risk job or survey planning? Enlarging the survey area and providing a continuous and detailed water depth information is the main objective in this research. In order to complement with convenience and cost reduction, the author used Landsat 8 '(free downloadable images)' in this research. Structuring the procedure is the central part of the process involving pre-processing and processing step until the final product obtained. In this research, the author used various kind of bathymetry algorithms such as Single-Band Algorithm (SBA), Green-Band Algorithm (GBA), and Stumpf. Moreover, the author also uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) tool from ArcMap and Spear Relative Water Depth: Log-Ratio Transform tool from ENVI to derived bathymetry. All of this bathymetry algorithm gives out a different concept with a different statistical approach. The final result then will be compared and evaluated with Single-Beam Echosounder data (ground truth).

Hydroxyapatite-gelatin-HPMC composite as injectable bone substitute with alendronate variation for osteoporotic bone

The treatment of bone with osteoporosis could be done by filling the bone defect with Injectable Bone Substitute (IBS). IBS could be functioned as drug delivery system by associating a drug inside the IBS, such as alendronate for osteoporosis case. In this study, IBS has been synthesized and characterized with the alendronate variations. The IBS was synthesized by stirring hydroxyapatite and gelatin 5% (w/v) with a ratio of 45:55. The alendronate was added to the solution with composition of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. The mixture was mixed with 2% (w/v) HPMC. FTIR test results indicated the formation of hydroxyapatite-gelatin bonding (Ca2+--COO−) at wavenumber of 1560.54 cm−1. The acidity test result indicated that the sample had a pH of 7 and was able to remain stable. The IBS could be set in 3 hours and 38 minutes when injected to HA substrate and capable of enveloping the surface of HA substrate. The pore size of the substrate decreased from range of 153 to 625.8 µm into 247.4 to 480.8 µm. The XRD test results indicated that degree of crystallinity decreased from 76.81% to 75.13%. The best alendronate composition in IBS was 10% compared to the mass of hydroxyapatite.
