Performance analysis of a standalone hybrid renewable electric generation system during fault condition

There are several problems or disruptions to the hybrid system, including the availability of limited energy sources, transient conditions when some power plants or loads enter the system or out of the system and short circuit interruptions. The hybrid system used for testing includes photovoltaic system (PV), wind power generation system (WTGS), battery energy storage system (BESS) and load. The system is integrated on the DC bus. Testing for each interference condition is performed after the system is integrated. The parameters seen in this hybrid system performance analysis test are DC bus voltages and currents from each renewable plant. The results of this test will be used as data for hybrid system improvement in future research.

There are several ways to deal with security issues of confidential data sent via the internet, including using cryptographic techniques and steganography. Steganography is the science and art of concealing information / messages in a media in such a way that its existence is not detected by other parties who are not entitled to the information. Instead, cryptography disguises the meaning of a message, but does not hide that there is a message because the file looks suspicious. The Steganography technique used here was End Of File (EOF). The EOF technique described how to add data or files at the end of the image file. For this technique, the size of data or files that will be hidden could be larger than the size of the image file. The hidden data will be inserted at the end of the file so that it will not affect the image. This steganography application is also equipped with a cryptographic function Data Encryption Standard (DES) at the time of insertion of data that functions as a generator code and encrypts data, so that the security of a data in the file is more protected and protected from those who are not entitled to know the data. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Background: Improving the accessibility of screening diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from non-diabetic kidney disease (NDKD) are two major challenges in the field of diabetes care. We aimed to develop and validate an artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning system to detect DKD and isolated diabetic nephropathy from retinal fundus images. Methods: In this population-based study, we developed a retinal image-based AI-deep learning system, DeepDKD, pretrained using 734 084 retinal fundus images. First, for DKD detection, we used 486 312 retinal images from 121 578 participants in the Shanghai Integrated Diabetes Prevention and Care System for development and internal validation, and ten multi-ethnic datasets from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and the UK (65 406 participants) for external validation. Second, to differentiate isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, we used 1068 retinal images from 267 participants for development and internal validation, and three multi-ethnic datasets from China, Malaysia, and the UK (244 participants) for external validation. Finally, we conducted two proof-of-concept studies: a prospective real-world study with 3 months' follow-up to evaluate the effectiveness of DeepDKD in screening DKD;and a longitudinal analysis of the effectiveness of DeepDKD in differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD on renal function changes with 4·6 years' follow-up. Findings: For detecting DKD, DeepDKD achieved an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0·842 (95% CI 0·838–0·846) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·791–0·826 across external validation datasets. For differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, DeepDKD achieved an AUC of 0·906 (0·825–0·966) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·733–0·844 across external validation datasets. The complete mitochondrial genome ofOdontobutis platycephalacollected from a native Korean river was determined by the bioinformatics assembly of the next-generation sequencing (NGS) reads. The circular mitogenome was 17,590 bp length which harbored canonical 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs, which was identical to those of family Odontobutidae. Twenty-eight genes were located on H strand, whereas remaining nine genes were on L strand. Except for COX1 gene (GTG), other 12 protein-coding genes were predicted typical start codons (ATG). Among the currently known mitogenome sequences,O. platycephalashowed highest identity (96.98%) to Korean haplotype ofO. platycephala(NC010199).

The purpose of this research is to know public perception of biogas users in Jetak Village, Semarang Regency viewed from technological aspect, technical (biogas installation), biogas benefit, economy and environment. The method used qualitative descriptive with qualitative descriptive approach. The technique of determining key informants was done by purposive sampling. Data were obtained from cattle ranchers who lived in the study sites through interviews, observation and documentation. The result of this research is overall the perception about biogas energy get a positive response from user society. However, there are some things that should be considered for the government and others in providing assistance that is necessary to consider the evaluation and monitoring periodically so that the constraints experienced by the user community can be known early and can be found right solutions. In addition, the sustainability of the use of biogas energy can be done from generation to generation not just the aid which in the end becomes only useless materials.

Environmental assessment of a small power plant based on palm kernel shell gasification

A small power plant based on biomass gasification technology is attractive to provide electricity to many remote areas without fossil fuel access because biomass is locally available and contributes to net-zero carbon emissions in the terms of a greenhouse gas component. Palm kernel shell is a potential biomass in Indonesia to provide energy needs. It is available in scattered areas that are economical for a small-scale power plant operation up to 200 kW. The gasification technology converts the shell into combustible gases, which are also known as producer gases with carbon monoxide and hydrogen as the main components for fuelling a gas generator set resulting in carbon dioxide and water in the flue gas. Although palm kernel shell considered carbon-neutral, a power plant based on biomass gasification also emits CO2 indirectly as a result of the fossil fuel combustion during shell generation in a palm oil mill, handling and transportation from the mill to the power plant. A power plant based on the palm kernel shell gasification system produces greenhouse gases and solid residue as char and tarry components in the producer gas. This assessment examined the global warming potential level of a 5-kW power plant based on palm kernel gasification technology using a Gate-to-Gate approach to develop system improvement scenarios. All carbon dioxide emissions were predicted with an openLCA database of Environmental Footprint (MID-point indicator). The mass and energy balance calculations resulted in the amount of generated char. A laboratory experiment was conducted to observe tar content in the producer gas. It was found that the power plant emits 1.69 kg CO2 eq/kWh, produces 0.33 kg char/kWh and the producer gas contains 2.70 × 10−4 kg tar/kWh. The increasing number of servers used to support all the activities that assist the production of a company. Usually, it will be a waste, because a physical server cannot share resources such as CPU, RAM, and network. It will force the company to buy a new server each time to implement a new system. Therefore, we examined and analyzed the comparison of performance on a physical server with a virtual server that is built as an IP camera server to answer the needs of the company. After testing and getting the data, we conclude that in the testing of a turn on, restart and shut down servers, virtual servers have very much superior performance compared to physical servers. While in terms of performance of the CPU, RAM, and network, both physical servers and virtual servers do not have a significant difference. Electricity Savings Using Passive Filters

This study aims to provide knowledge in order to save electricity consumption. The use of electrical energy is recorded at KWH meters. Saving electricity means limiting the use of electrical energy according to need. The use of electrical energy is based on the use of electrical power. Technically, this dimmer serves to regulate the use of electrical power. Some electrical equipment has been equipped with dimmers to regulate the operation of the equipment in accordance with the user's want, yet there are still many electrical equipment that is not equipped with dimmers. This is a problem in the efforts to save electricity. The method used in this study is applying passive components in electricity such as inductors, capacitors and resistors. These passive components are arranged to be used as filter circuits. With a 21 mH inductor with an air core, Farad's 12.5 micro capacitor, and 4.7 ohm resistor can be made as a passive filter that is installed before electric loads. The use of this filter circuit can save the use of electricity up to 15% at a load current of 2 amperes. Thus, electricity bill payments can be reduced by up to 15%. In the future, this research can be continued to improve the efficiency of electricity consumption by modifying passive filters.

The stability of calibration model in measuring and mapping soil organic matter in a dry climatic area

The increase of atmospheric CO2 concentration from soil organic matter (SOM) decomposition may contribute to the global warming and climate change. So, sequestering this greenhouse gas into SOM may be used to mitigate climate change. However, tedious procedures in measuring and mapping SOM need to be replaced with a method which works based on the reliability of calibration model developed. This research aimed to test the reliability of the calibration model that was built from a separate soil sample group to be used to measure and map SOM on other validation soil sample group, in the mostly dry climatic area of Kayangan Sub-district, North Lombok Indonesia. For this purpose, 300 soil samples were collected from the area using grid method, which were then dried, ground, sieved, analysed for SOM content using the Walkley and Black method, and scanned using Near Infrared Spectroscopy. The model built using calibration sample group was able to reliably measure and map the SOM content of the spectral data collected from the validation sample set. This is shown by the coefficient of determination (R2V = 0.79), root mean square error (RMSEV = 0.246%) and the ratio prediction to deviation (RPDV = 2.09). SOM maps generated from both laboratory and near infrared method can show very low, low and medium SOM content. These maps can be further used as a reference for applying organic fertilizers, avoiding excessive use of fertilizers, and monitoring soil carbon sequestration in mitigating climate change.

For solving optimization problems, stochastic population-based nature-inspired algorithms use inspirations from nature. Despite their applicability in real-world environments, their bottleneck is high time complexity. Usually, they are searching for optimal solutions on computing devices of full computational power. However, in some situations, we deal with devices of limited computational power. Some examples of such devices are smartphones, which have been becoming very powerful for running various applications. However, there is still a lack of researches that would study the performance of nature-inspired algorithms on these devices. In this paper, we analyze the performance of one member of the nature-inspired algorithms, the so-called Bat algorithm, on the Android smartphone. Although smartphones nowadays offer a computational power comparable with the personal computer, we focus on the cheaper and older smartphones that are most widespread today. © 2018 IEEE.
