Thermodynamic Analysis of Two-Phase Ejector as Expansion Device with Dual Evaporator Temperatures on Split Type Air Conditioning Systems

This paper presents a numerical and experimental study of increasing the performance coefficient (COP) of split AC (SAC) by reducing compressor work and increasing cooling capacity. Two phase ejector as an expansion device with a new design of dual evaporator temperature used. numerical methods apply the mathematical model developed in the EES software that is applied. Thermodynamic analysis is carried out to achieve ASHRAE Standard requirements for a minimum SAC with COP application of 3.5. The SAC system is filled with R-290 as a thermal fluid medium. Based on the simulation results a numerical model of the ejector is then produced and installed in a modified SAC system of cooling capacity of at least 9000 BTU/hour. An experimental test was conducted to investigate the actual performance of the ejector and its effect on the performance of the SAC system. The results showed that the two phase ejector with the new design of the dual evaporator temperature system was successful. When compared to standard split air conditioners using capillary tube expansion devices the tested ejector system contributes around 35% of power savings. The COP of the system can reach 5.5 which accounts for 39% of the increase in performance.

Small-cell network is a promising solution to high video traffic. However, with the increasing number of mobile devices, it cannot meet the requirements from all users. Thus, we propose a caching device-to-device (D2D) scheme for small-cell networks, in which caching placement and D2D establishment are combined. In this scheme, a limited cache is equipped at each user, and the popular files can be prefetched at the local cache during off-peak period. Thus, dense D2D connections can be established during peak time aided by these cached users. To do this, first, an optimal caching scheme is formulated according to the popularity to maximize the total offloading probability of the D2D system. Then, the sum rate of D2D links is analyzed in different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regions. Furthermore, three D2D-link scheduling schemes are proposed with the help of bipartite graph theory and Kuhn-Munkres algorithm for low, high and medium SNRs, respectively. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2018 IEEE.

The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for school management is very helpful in providing services to students and other stakeholders. ICT as a technology can be useful if used to improve its performance. Whereas someone will use technology to assist in completing his work if he feels that the technology is easy to use. A person’s perception of existing technology will encourage the use of this technology in its work. This study aims to examine the effect of perceptions of ease of use of ICTs on service quality in vocational high schools in West Java. The method used in this study is a causal survey. Sampling in this study used proportional random sampling technique with a total sample of 248 respondents. The research data were analysed using path analysis with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The results of this study indicate that the perception of ease of use of ICT indirectly affects the quality of stakeholder services in Vocational High Schools in the West Java Region.

This research is about smooth support vector machine (SSVM) and Decision Tree in data mining. Many researchers conduct and develop methods to improve the accuracy and classification of data on good results. This research was conducted by conducting an experiment on STMIK Neumann Medan student data. In this study, it was concluded that Decision Tree performance is better than SSVM, Decision Tree gets very good results that promise to help find the best students to get scholarships. This study is better than SSVM. The training process has a difference of 11.04% and the testing process is 10.08% with each Accuracy.

Background Reduced amyloid-beta-42 (Aβ42) and elevated total tau (t-tau) protein concentrations in the CSF are characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology [1]. Aβ42 contributes to extracellular plaque formation between neurons [2]. The total level of tau, a microtubule-stabilizer in neuron axons [3], is associated with neuronal death [1]. Additionally, presence of ApoE4 (ε4) alleles is an established identifier for increased risk of AD [4]. Non-invasive imaging-based correlates of the CSF markers are lacking. This study examines correlations of novel FLAIR texture, intensity, and volume biomarkers, along with white matter lesion (WML) burden, with Aβ42, t-tau, and ε4 status. Method FLAIR volumes (n = 4044) from the ADNI database were used for analysis with CSF biomarkers. A subset (n = 921) was used for ε4 analysis based on available data. Normal-appearing brain matter (NABM) was obtained by removing CSF and WML. Macrostructural damage (MAD), microstructural damage (MID), and integrity (MII) texture biomarkers [5] were extracted from each NABM volume (Fig. 1), along with median intensity, NABM/ICV ratio, and normalized WML volume [5]. Relationships between FLAIR biomarkers and AD markers were described using parametric statistical analyses. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05. Result All FLAIR biomarkers were statistically significantly correlated with CSF Aβ42 levels. All features except MID and WML burden were significantly correlated with CSF t-tau levels (Table 1). MAD, MID, and WML burden showed negative correlations with Aβ42, while MAD showed a positive correlation with t-tau. Opposite trends were seen with MII, intensity, and NABM/ICV (Fig. 2). Significant differences between groups without and with one ε4 allele were found in all FLAIR biomarkers except WML burden. Significant differences in MAD, MII and NABM/ICV were found between groups with one and two ε4 alleles (Table 2). Conclusion FLAIR biomarkers were inversely associated with CSF Aβ

Testing Real-Time Applications on Windows 10 IOT Using the Nyquist Theory

Raspberry Pi is a mini-computer that is provided to carry out activities quickly and precisely, but Raspberry Pi was created to not be able to do the real-time system with the support of Windows 10 IoT operating system, so the real-time system can be done on Raspberry Pi. The real-time applied in the application needs to be tested with the Nyquist theory. The purpose of this study was to get real-time system measurements available on Windows 10 IoT. This test is done using the Nyquist theory by calculating the results of measurements on mp3 streaming performed on Windows 10 IoT.

Application of artificial neural network for type 2 diabetes mellitus detection using buccal cell images

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is metabolic disease causing hyperglicemia due to insulin action anomali. DM can cause cellular changes, including buccal cell. Blood tests are used to diagnosis diabetes, so non-invasive test is required for diagnosis of diabetes. Accordingly, this research aims to design non-invasive system based on artificial neural network for type 2 DM detection using buccal cell images. Buccal cells smears were obtained from 30 subjects suffering from type 2 DM and 30 normal subjects. The smears were stained by using Papanicolaou method. Each slide were observed under digital microscope and were evaluated. The system was designed by using MATLAB with image processing and Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) algorithm to classify features. Buccal cell images were segmented to get features. The features used in this study were nucleus area, nucleus perimeter and nucleus circularity. Nucleus areas and perimeters in type 2 DM group were higher than those in control group with similar nucleus roundness in both groups. Forty nucleus feature datasets were used for training process, while 20 nucleus feature datasets were used for testing process. The optimal PNN value was 0.4 g constant. The optimal accuracy of training was 92.5%, while the optimal accuracy of testing was 90%.

Managing laundry wastewater

Laundry services are emerging in every corner of Bali, particularly at suburban area, from cities to villages. These services help the community to ease their burden. However, the burden for the environment is increase. The wastewater from the laundries should be controlled, which should be handled natural ways. One way of reducing the dangerous chemical from the laundry wastewater can be done by Vertical-Sub-surface Flow Constructed Wetland system, using volcanic rocks as substrate of plant grow and the plant as filters. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of volcanic rock and Canna plants as a filter for the laundry wastewater. The volcanic rock as substrate for the plant grows was place in layers in a drum and the laundry wastewater was flowed. The parameter of wastewater laundry, such as TDS, BOD, COD and total phosphate were measured before and after treatment. The treatment was run for 6 weeks. The result shows that this system is effective that overall can reduce the parameter measured for 53.86%.

Remote Chlorophyll-a and SST to Determination of Fish Potential Area in Makassar Strait Waters Using MODIS Satellite Data

The objective of this research was to analyze integrated geospatial data using MODIS Satellite data and field data observation to the determination of potential fish area. This study applied in Makassar Strait 118° 0' 0' E-119° 37' 0' E, 3°0'0' S – 4°45'0' S. The methods of this research was conducted using MODIS combine the depth of map waters survey direct interviews and people who participate in fishing activities monthly in January, February, March, April, May, and June. Data were analyzed by using software: Statistics, SeaDas, ENVI, and GIS. The result showed that the horizontal distribution of sea surface temperature (SST) spread evenly or divergent. The distribution of sea temperature in the coastal area was relatively warm in the sea around Barru and Pangkep was ranged 31 to 32 °C. Sea surface temperature dominates in the range of 30 - 31°C. SST correlation coefficient was 0.79 between MODIS and value of observation field data.
