A low-dimensional dynamical system is observed in an experiment as a high-dimensional signal;for example, a video of a chaotic pendulums system. Assuming that we know the dynamical model up to some unknown parameters, can we estimate the underlying system's parameters by measuring its time-evolution only once? The key information for performing this estimation lies in the temporal inter-dependencies between the signal and the model. We propose a kernel-based score to compare these dependencies. Our score generalizes a maximum likelihood estimator for a linear model to a general nonlinear setting in an unknown feature space. We estimate the system's underlying parameters by maximizing the proposed score. We demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method using two chaotic dynamical systems - the double pendulum and the Lorenz'63 model. © 2020, CC BY.

Quantum tunneling phenomenon allows a high-barrier reaction to occur even though thermal energy is not sufficient to surmount the barrier. The phenomenon has been suggested to exist in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene which occured at 11 K. Here we study the quantum tunneling that occured in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde and to vinyl alcohol based on density functional calculations. The isomerization pathways are determined under the effect of various solvents which are modeled by polarizable continuum model (PCM). We use Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation to calculate the tunneling probability (T) and extend the usefulness of T into isomerization rate. The results show that the solvents give a significant effect on the isomerization rate of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde but an insignificant one on the isomerization rate to vinyl alcohol.

The field of heliophysics encompasses a diverse range of research areas and rich plasma environments, from the solar dynamo and solar wind turbulence, to the complex terrestrial thermosphere-ionosphere-magnetosphere (TIM) system, to investigations of both induced and intrinsic magnetospheres across the solar system. This perspective paper delves into the experiences and outcomes of a summer school held in person in Boulder, Colorado, USA, from 7–11 August, which offered a platform for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. The event, supported by NASA's Living with a Star program and hosted by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research and Cooperative programs for the Advancement of Earth System science, assembled a cohort of 26 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from around the world, all engaged in heliophysics research. The summer school included a series of lectures, interactive activities, and a culminating capstone project. The participants' diverse backgrounds enriched discussions and encouraged novel approaches to traditional problems. The capstone projects spanned an array of topics, including investigating the origins of solar wind switchbacks, dissecting the sequence of events from solar eruptions and their corresponding terrestrial consequences, investigating the energy transfer from solar coronal mass ejections to Earth's magnetosphere, and advocating for the exploration of Coulomb collisions in understanding large-scale global systems. Through this perspective, we shed light on the value of international and interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing heliophysics research. This perspective paper encapsulates the ethos of the summer school, serving as a testament to the continuing and collective pursuit of unraveling the mysteries of the heliosphere. Integration of Solar Energy Supply on the Smart Home Micro Grid to Support Efficient Electricity and Green Environment

The development and utilization of renewable energy sources usually requires a complicated process and often still needs the support from fossil energy sources, so that a system that integrate both energy sources must be developed. Smart grid is a modern electricity network infrastructure with the ability to integrate alternative (nuclear, geothermal) and renewable energy sources (wind, water, air, diesel, etc.) and the ability to improve reliability, efficiency and security through automatic control and use of modern communication technology. Therefore the Smart Grid implementation will provide greater benefits because the number of renewable and integrated and integrated storage units increases, efficiency increases, operational costs decrease, reliability increases and CO2 emissions decrease. The implementation of the smart grid in the micro scale in this study is for the fulfilment of household electricity needs. The solar power as a renewable energy sources will be integrated to the smart grids so that households can become independent in providing electricity and not dependent on the state electricity company and also reduce monthly electricity costs. This study will discuss the integrating energy supply on the smart home micro grid.

It is for the first time that quantum simulation for high-energy physics (HEP) is studied in the U.S. decadal particle-physics community planning, and in fact until recently, this was not considered a mainstream topic in the community. This fact speaks of a remarkable rate of growth of this subfield over the past few years, stimulated by the impressive advancements in quantum information sciences (QIS) and associated technologies over the past decade, and the significant investment in this area by the government and private sectors in the U.S. and other countries. High-energy physicists have quickly identified problems of importance to our understanding of nature at the most fundamental level, from tiniest distances to cosmological extents, that are intractable with classical computers but may benefit from quantum advantage. They have initiated, and continue to carry out, a vigorous program in theory, algorithm, and hardware co-design for simulations of relevance to the HEP mission. This Roadmap is an attempt to bring this exciting and yet challenging area of research to the spotlight, and to elaborate on what the promises, requirements, challenges, and potential solutions are over the next decade and beyond.

For solving optimization problems, stochastic population-based nature-inspired algorithms use inspirations from nature. Despite their applicability in real-world environments, their bottleneck is high time complexity. Usually, they are searching for optimal solutions on computing devices of full computational power. However, in some situations, we deal with devices of limited computational power. Some examples of such devices are smartphones, which have been becoming very powerful for running various applications. However, there is still a lack of researches that would study the performance of nature-inspired algorithms on these devices. In this paper, we analyze the performance of one member of the nature-inspired algorithms, the so-called Bat algorithm, on the Android smartphone. Although smartphones nowadays offer a computational power comparable with the personal computer, we focus on the cheaper and older smartphones that are most widespread today.

The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is related to the lack of knowledge of mothers regarding high-risk pregnancies, especially with cesarean delivery. In this case, the prediction system designed is done as an effort to increase the awareness of mothers or women who were preparing for high-risk pregnancies. In this article, an Android-based prediction application will be presented using an expert system with the Dempster Shafer method. This method is based on a mathematical theory which consists of a combination of belief function and plausible reasoning from the risk parameters of each labor class by representing the knowledge obtained from experts. This study uses 16 risk parameters as input based on Poejo Rochati's high-risk pregnancy card with 2 outputs, with risk or no risk of having cesarean delivery. The result obtained from this system is 85%, concludes that the prediction system is able to predict the risk of cesarean delivery.

Penaeid shrimps are widely distributed from Indian to western Pacific Oceans and some which are economically important. In this study, we reported full mitochondrial genome of an endemic shrimp species,Penaeus acehensis, which inhabits exclusively in the coastal water of Aceh, Indonesia. Full length of circular mitogenome ofP. acehensiswas 15,991 bp in length, which contained 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and a control region. Start codons of all protein-coding genes were ATN except for COX1 in which ACG was used. Incomplete stop codon (T- -) was found in five genes including COX2, COX3, NAD5, NAD4, and NAD4L. Among its relatives,P. acehensiswas most closely related toPenaeus monodonshowing 89% sequence identity in its mitogenome, which was corresponding to morphological analysis. Phylogenetic tree result showed thatP. acehensiswas clustered together with those were distributed in Indo-West Pacific region (clade II), which is distinct from Eastern Pacific region (clade I).

Along with the increasing of infrastructure development in Indonesia especially in jepara, so the necessary of material also increase, for example: sand. Nowadays, muntilan is the sand that often be used in making infrastructure in the government because it is considered that it has the good quality, whereas in the other hand the river sand is also abundant, but the government perverted mintilan sand as the development material. River sand is usually used by the middle to lower county because the house because the price is cheaper than muntilan sand. After doing this research we hope that: can know the quality of the river sand if it is used in infeastructure, knowing the river sand in jepara that have the good quality, such as: keling sand, bangsri sand, The stages of this research are: preparation, sand inspection (mud content and organic faces, filter analysis, moister content and weight, and specific gravity), making spacimens based on SKSNI 03-6825-2002 ASTM C 305, making compressive strength test. The test result show that at 3,7,14,21,28 days old show that keling sand (93,2 kg/cm2), bangsri sand (135,2 kg/cm2). The use of river sand as the construction material by the government and community will have consequence on the balance kf muntilan sand and river sand. The specific treatment on the river sand will that quality that is almost same as muntilan sand.

Bisindo information system as potential daily sign language learning

Bisindo or Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia is one of sign language methods in Indonesia, besides SIBI or Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia. Generally, Bisindo is used by deaf people in their daily communication. Deaf people tend to have barriers to communicate with others. Yet, in the educational realm, some of them still have high spirit to continue their education until university. So, they must improve their abilities or competences in communicating with others and try to get information from around the world, for example using sophisticated technology with sign language. Information system of sign language learning is important to help deaf and heard people who want to understand the deaf conversation meaning. Bisindo information system is in website form that is built by PHP, MySQL, and sublime text 3. Based on the black box method, the Bisindo information system can run well. The results of the trial to the user describe that the maximum percentage for each level of testing is above 50% except for testing of conformity with the needs of deaf only at maximum of 42%. The Bisindo information system still has weakness, but it already gives benefits especially for deaf people in Indonesia.
