We sought to revolutionize the classification of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by pioneering an innovative approach that seamlessly integrated auditory and visual tests with electroencephalogram (EEG) coherence analysis, forming the foundation for our Support Vector Machine (SVM) models. Our primary objective was to achieve precise differentiation between individuals with ADHD and those without, aiming to reshape the landscape of ADHD diagnosis and early intervention. We constructed an SVM model based on CATA coherence, incorporating a carefully selected set of 180 features, and another grounded in CPT coherence with 70 features. Astonishingly, our exploration uncovered that a model incorporating CATA's coherence and Power Spectral Density (PSD) as features achieved an astounding accuracy rate of 97.7%, using only half the number of features. This revelation hints at untapped potential for multivariate advancements in the realm of ADHD classification. The landscape of ADHD diagnosis and intervention is perpetually evolving, most notably with the FDA's approval of game therapy for ADHD. Leveraging the transformative power of our findings, we envision the development of user-friendly game therapies for in-home use, empowering both clinicians and parents alike. This marks a paradigm shift in the realm of ADHD intervention, offering objective, data-driven tools for the early management of ADHD. Gamified therapy not only enhances accessibility but also fosters engagement and compliance, all of which are pivotal in the long-term care of individuals with ADHD. In summary, our study represents a significant advancement in our comprehension and classification of ADHD. By fusing auditory and visual tests with EEG coherence analysis, fortified by state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, we have achieved an unprecedented level of accuracy in identifying individuals with ADHD. Biomedical datasets distill many mechanisms of human diseases, linking diseases to genes and phenotypes (signs and symptoms of disease), genetic mutations to altered protein structures, and altered proteins to changes in molecular functions and biological processes. It is desirable to gain new insights from these data, especially with regard to the uncovering of hierarchical structures relating disease variants. However, analysis to this end has proven difficult due to the complexity of the connections between multicategorical symbolic data. This article proposes Symbolic Tree Adaptive Resonance Theory (START), with additional supervised, Dual-Vigilance (DV-START), and Distributed Dual-Vigilance (DDV-START) formulations, for the clustering of multicategorical symbolic data from biomedical datasets by demonstrating its utility in clustering variants of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease using genomic, phenotypic, and proteomic data. © 2023, CC BY.

The aim of functional electrical stimulation (FES) is restoring a disabled patient’s upper motor neuron by directly applying electrical currents to the paralyzed muscles. This paper considers a FES alternate knee bending and stretching trike system with RISE-based control for rehabilitation. The alternate knee bending and stretching mechanism and a rider with two muscle groups (Quadriceps, Hamstrings) are modeled as an Euler Lagrange system based on knee bending and stretching force direction. A chain and pulley gear mechanism and a linear motion conversion mechanism are loaded on a recumbent trike to keep disabled patient’s motivation for rehabilitation and to use as transportation. The chain and pulley gear mechanism achieves alternate knee bending and stretching motion, and the linear motion conversion mechanism achieves converting linear motion to rotary motion. Experimental results in healthy participants are shown to confirm the validity of the proposed system and the potential of use as transportation. © 2020 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

This paper present the network design and capacity planning of access point (AP) deployment for indoor positioning system. The estimation of WiFi distance is described briefly how to measure the signal strength of AP. Co-channel interference is a key for network design of access point installation for network capacity. The objective function for network capacity planning of AP deployment is to optimize the number of access point and location for indoor positioning system concerning with the minimized co-channel interference. Simulations are tested to install AP for lecture hall in university. Capacity planning design of wireless AP deployment is proposed for indoor position systems in terms of the received signal strength indications (RSSI). We assume the situation is supported for the crowded conference. The requirement of the results of wireless AP positioning in crowded conference rooms are placing the wireless AP in forms of overlap the signal in order to get the strong signal. Experimental results have been tested their received signal of WiFi APs with the 2.4GHz frequency using the receiver installed in laptops to check the signal. The empirical results shown that the strength of RSSI will be received a signal of -44 dBm at a distance of approximately 20 meters.

Since the invention of the laser, there have been countless applications that were made possible or improved through exploiting its multitude of unique advantages. Most of these advantages are mainly due to the high degree of coherence of the laser light, which makes it directional and spectrally pure. Nevertheless, many fields require a moderate degree of temporal or spatial coherence, making conventional lasers unsuitable for these applications. This has brought about a great interest in partially coherent light sources, especially those based on semiconductor devices, given their efficiency, compactness, and high-speed operation. Here, we review the development of low-coherence semiconductor light sources, including superluminescent diodes, highly multimode lasers, and random lasers, and the wide range of applications in which they have been deployed. We highlight how each of these applications benefsits from a lower degree of coherence in space and/or time. We then discuss future potential applications that can be enabled using new types of low-coherence light.

With the increasing developments in the Internet of Things (IoT), smart-city applications have been attracting widespread interest in many governments, organizations, and companies. The FED4IoT project is a research and innovation project that aims to develop a smart-city application, named “VirIoT,” which realizes the semantic interoperability of IoT data among numerous IoT applications from different grounds. To realize the semantic interoperability of IoT data, data management on cloud platforms, such as FIWARE, is considered necessary. Therefore, the development of a root data domain gateway (RDG), which analyzes IoT data, converts its data format, and posts the data to the cloud service, is required. In this project, Kanazawa Institute of technology has chosen wildlife monitoring as one of the use cases of the project, and its system using IoT has been designed and developed. Furthermore, its data model has been created for the development of the RDG. Finally, the RDG has been developed as a first step in the semantic interoperability of IoT data.

Unplanned seizures are caused by a disorder in the central nervous system known as epilepsy. Although significant advancements have been made in the realm of non-EEG wearable devices, there is still much room for improvement in the field of EEG-based seizure detection and prediction using ML. The management of epilepsy has a lot of promise to be aided by non-invasive wearable technology. The suggested study intends to design and implement a support vector machine (SVM) classification-based epileptic seizure detection system based on various wearable devices. The proposed technique for detecting seizures accomplishes According to data for seizure detection, our system consistently achieves a sensitivity of 100% and an accuracy of 97%. High level MATLAB model creation is part of the design cycle. Despite the fact that high performance cannot be achieved with just one signal. Although a high performance detection system cannot achieve the requisite sensitivity and accuracy with a single signal, we presented various combining techniques. RTL modelling, design optimization, FPGA implementation, and functional verification are all included in the implementation cycle. The capacity of the FPGA’s partial dynamic reconfiguration is suggested for implementation in order to make better use of the available resources. Comparing the proposed implementation to relevant earlier work, it demonstrated improved utilization.

A fiber Bragg grating sensor is used to monitor the temperature of an air-cooled combustion motorcycle engine in this study. The sensor is attached to one of the aluminum cylinders fins of the motorcycle to characterize the heat transfer process. We present the results of the heating and cooling curves during tests with the motorcycle at rest and in motion. A better understanding of the air-cooling process can lead to the optimization of designs in this area.

This paper addresses the reference tracking control problem for Medical Cyber-Physical Systems (MCPS). The control theory is employed to guarantee the suitable concentration of drugs in the body of patients to guarantee a safe treatment. The MCPS is modeled as a switched system, and the modes consider the different scenarios for the problem. A discrete-time model is utilized for the pharmacokinetic process, and the zero input control strategy is employed to design state-feedback controllers with a guaranteed exponential convergence rate. A numerical experiment is presented to illustrate the validity and effectiveness of our method.
