The development of game technology has opened up new possibilities in learning methods through educational games. However, in Indonesia, the application of this concept is lacking. One lesson that can benefit from educational games is Indonesian History in class X, with a focus on history in the pre-literacy period. This study aims to create a puzzle-Adventure type of digital game that can help educate students about the pre-literacy period, developed with Unity, and uses WebGL as a target device while referring to Indonesia's revised 2013 national curriculum. The result of this research is the creation of a digital game that can be played on average of 254.36 seconds, with potential for educational use. A survey result shows that many of the ancient objects and some of the ages are well-recognized. However, the survey also shows many of the gameplay aspects, such as UI, gameplay features, and adventure elements, need improvements. © 2020 IEEE.

Capturing the extremal behaviour of data often requires bespoke marginal and dependence models which are grounded in rigorous asymptotic theory, and hence provide reliable extrapolation into the upper tails of the data-generating distribution. We present a toolbox of four methodological frameworks, motivated by modern extreme value theory, that can be used to accurately estimate extreme exceedance probabilities or the corresponding level in either a univariate or multivariate setting. Our frameworks were used to facilitate the winning contribution of Team Yalla to the EVA (2023) Conference Data Challenge, which was organised for the 13th International Conference on Extreme Value Analysis. This competition comprised seven teams competing across four separate sub-challenges, with each requiring the modelling of data simulated from known, yet highly complex, statistical distributions, and extrapolation far beyond the range of the available samples in order to predict probabilities of extreme events. Multilevel inverters (MLIs) play a significant role in DC/AC power conversion, providing enhanced power quality, reduced electromagnetic interference, and lower dv/dt stress compared to conventional two-level inverters. Therefore, the MLIs are widely used in various medium-voltage and high-power applications. However, conventional MLIs exhibit inherent limitations such as voltage-boosting capability, reliability concerns, and higher component counts. Therefore, the conventional MLIs require a two-stage conversion, resulting in reduced efficiency and increased complexity. To overcome the limitations of conventional MLIs, the current research trends have shifted toward switched capacitor multilevel inverters (SC-MLIs). However, SC-MLIs also encounter limitations related to component count, voltage stress, and capacitor voltage balancing. This article presents an improved high-gain SC-MLI, consisting of 12 unidirectional switches, one bidirectional switch, three diodes, and three capacitors. This improved topology can generate a 13-level output voltage along with triple voltage gain and ensures the self-balancing of capacitor voltages with reduced voltage stress. The nearest-level control scheme is implemented to verify the viability of the improved circuit for different loading conditions. Furthermore, power loss analysis was conducted to determine the power losses across the component counts and the overall efficiency of the inverter using PLECS software. To assess the feasibility of the improved topology, a comparative analysis was conducted against existing MLI topologies in terms of component count, voltage stress, and cost. Finally, the circuit's performance was validated through a hardware prototype tested under various loading conditions. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

In this study, a micro-led display, an eye chart player software, and image capture and processing module were used to construct a color refractive error exam for subject with speech disorder. This method can be used to test subjects with refractive errors, eye's color vision and other pathological problems. The micro-led display uses an eye chart player program to display the capital letters E and the other fonts, and the gaps of the E letters can be tumbled in any direction. When subjects with speech disorder were examined for vision, the E chart was displayed sequentially from big letters to small letters, and the image capture and processing module was synchronized with the eye chart player program. The subjects only need to point out the direction of the gap with gestures, and the image capture and processing module can simultaneously capture the gestures of the subjects to judge visual test status. In this study, twenty subjects were tested and all obtained the correct VA value and wore excellent eye glasses. The characteristic of this innovative method is that the subjects with a speech disorder can use simple hand gestures to complete the visual exam through the image capture and processing module during the inspection.

In this paper we present a new antithetic multilevel Monte Carlo (MLMC) method for the estimation of expectations with respect to laws of diffusion processes that can be elliptic or hypo-elliptic. In particular, we consider the case where one has to resort to time discretization of the diffusion and numerical simulation of such schemes. Motivated by recent developments, we introduce a new MLMC estimator of expectations, which does not require simulation of intractable Lévy areas but has a weak error of order 2 and achieves the optimal computational complexity. We then show how this approach can be used in the context of the filtering problem associated to partially observed diffusions with discrete time observations. We illustrate with numerical simulations that our new approaches provide efficiency gains for several problems relative to some existing methods. © 2024, CC BY.

The use of the MathML language made possible to improve the accessibility of mathematics for blind or low-vision persons in digital media. Synthetic speech technologies have advanced significantly using MathML, however, the speech synthesizers' standard reading style is still not suitable for mathematics. Making mathematical reading of the speech synthesizers more natural and expressive is still a challenge. The creation of models to produce the appropriate prosody in the synthesized speech of math content is therefore necessary, as shown in previous research. This article presents a proposal for a model to improve prosody in the synthesized speech of mathematical expressions based on MathML. A corpus of mathematical expressions spoken by Mathematics teachers was created to support the model's development. The Fujisaki intonation model was adopted for intonation control, accent and phrase commands have been extracted from the corpus, and some adjustments have been made to manipulate prosodic parameters in the speech of mathematical expression in correlation with the MathML tree;additionally, a pattern of pauses control is being created. © 2020 ACM.

Mechanical straining-induced bandgap modulation in two-dimensional (2D) materials has been confined to volatile and narrow modulation due to substrate slippage and poor strain transfer. We report the thermomechanical modulation of the inherent bandgap in quasi-2D tellurium nanoflakes (TeNFs) via non-volatile strain induction during hot-press synthesis. We leveraged the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between TeNFs and growth substrates by maintaining a high-pressure enforced non-slip condition during thermal relaxation (623 to 300K) to achieve the optimal biaxial compressive strain of -4.6 percent in TeNFs/sapphire. This resulted in an enormous bandgap modulation of 2.3 eV, at a rate of up to ~600 meV/%, which is two-fold larger than reported modulation rate. Strained TeNFs display robust band-to-band radiative excitonic blue photoemission with an intrinsic quantum efficiency (IQE) of c.a. 79.9%, making it promising for energy efficient blue LEDs and nanolasers. Computational studies reveal that biaxial compressive strain inhibits exciton-exciton annihilation by evading van-Hove singularities, hence promoting radiative-recombination. Bandgap modulation by such nonvolatile straining is scalable to other 2D semiconductors for on-demand nano(opto)-electronics. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Resolving edge-cases in autonomous driving, head-to-head autonomous racing is getting a lot of attention from the industry and academia. In this study, we propose a game-theoretic model predictive control (MPC) approach for head-to-head autonomous racing and data-driven model identification method. For the practical estimation of nonlinear model parameters, we adopted the hyperband algorithm, which is used for neural model training in machine learning. The proposed controller comprises three modules: 1) game-based opponents’ trajectory predictor, 2) high-level race strategy planner, and 3) MPC-based low-level controller. The game-based predictor was designed to predict the future trajectories of competitors. Based on the prediction results, the high-level race strategy planner plans several behaviors to respond to various race circumstances. Finally, the MPC-based controller computes the optimal control commands to follow the trajectories. The proposed approach was validated under various racing circumstances in an official simulator of the Indy Autonomous Challenge. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively overtake competitors, while driving through the track as quickly as possible without collisions. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

We describe an approach using thin films on metals as models to study interfacial interactions. Thin films of biphenyl-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA) - p-phenylene diamine (PPD) based polyimide on Cr and Au surfaces have been investigated using infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). IRRAS was used for in-situ monitoring of polymer curing processes. Cured polyimide thin films on metals were characterized ex-situ by both XPS and IRRAS. Anhydride was observed to be an intermediate during chemical transformation of polyamic acid to polyimide. Imidization processes were found to be completed after curing at 250°C for thin films. Strong chemical modification of polyimide thin films resulting from interaction with Cr substrates were observed by infrared spectroscopy. These observations were consistent with angle-resolved XPS data showing a different C 1s emission spectrum of polyimide-Cr interfacial region, compared to the polyimide spectrum.
