The purpose of this paper was to describe the 3 D nano-scaled surface topography of the aluminum nitride on sapphire. The structures were prepared by magnetron sputtering with heating of the sapphire substrate. The dependence of the layers topography on the substrate temperature was presented. Surface appearance was studied by atomic force microscopy(AFM). The quantitative topography data from AFM were used for surface characterization by fractal analysis and statistical parameters. The results of fractal analysis show the correlation of fractal dimension and statistical characteristics of surface topography. The data may contribute to manufacture of AlN thin films with desired surface characteristics.

This research proposes two virtual keyboard designs and two control methods of virtual keyboards. The Keyboard I layout is a 4×10 matrix with QWERTY array keypad and the Keyboard II layout is a 7×6 matrix with alphabet array keypad. Both methods use thumb and index finger only to operate the keyboards. These two fingers can execute five commands: right searching, down searching, selecting character, clearing monitor, and activating the buzzer. The directions of fingers are detected by a Leap Motion sensor. The Algorithm I has two-finger gestures and 4 variables of time. The first gesture is the pointing down index finger with three functions which depends on the time variable: right searching, down searching and clearing monitor. The thumb finger pointing to the inside palm is the second gesture for selecting and activating the buzzer. The algorithm II has one additional gesture, but it has only 3 variables of time. The extra gesture is a slightly left movement of the index finger. This movement is for the down searching. The time variable is only used to clear the monitor and activate the buzzer in the 2nd algorithm. The results showed that algorithm II can reduce the time consumed to type a single character in both keyboard types. The Algorithm I spent approximately 6.7 seconds/character. This number was reduced by Algorithm II into only 5 seconds/character. The Algorithm I had a less finger gesture, but too much time variables confused the user in operating the system. Both algorithms and virtual keyboard designs had successfully been implemented in this research. Those who can just use at least the index finger and thumb would enable them to chat with others by using this application.

HEVC has emerged as the new video coding standard promising increased compression ratios compared to its predecessors. This performance improvement comes at a high computational cost. For this reason, HEVC offers three coarse grained parallelization potentials namely, wave front, slices and tiles. In this paper we focus on tile parallelism which is a relatively new concept with its effects not yet fully explored. Particularly, we investigate the problem of partitioning a frame into tiles so that in a resulting one on one tile-CPU core assignment the cores are load balanced, thus, maximum speedup can be achieved. We propose various heuristics for the problem with a focus on low delay coding and evaluate them against state of the art approaches. Results demonstrate that particular heuristic combinations clearly outperform their counterparts in the literature.

Lexical processing, such as detection of root words (Stemming) and type of words (Part of Speech tagging) is the important determinant for language computing systems that requires the detection of sentence structure or pattern. In Indonesian language, a problem that was encountered in lexical processing is lack of annotated corpus in Indonesian. Thus, POS tagger built in this research did not use annotated corpus, but utilize KBBI (Indonesian large dictionary) and some morphological rules that affect changes in word form (morphology). The method used in this study begin with change input text into tokens and do stemming. Each token is checked whether it is available in the baseword dictionary or not. If the token is not found in the baseword dictionary, it will go through stemming and affix detection. By doing this step, it can produce output list of POS tag for basewords and their affixes. By collate the output based on the rules of grammar, we can determine the type of affixed-word. Testing is done by comparing the detection results and the type of wordlist available in KBBI, for every input token. Accuracy score is obtained by calculate number of true results divided by total number of tokens being examined. Based on result of test performed, the achievement of accuracy is quite good (average rate of 87.4% for 4 parts of PAN Localization corpus in Indonesian). False results were caused by some mistake tags in existing KBBI and presence of ambigous word (word with more than one POS tag). So, improvement will be possible by using more complete Indonesian dictionary and adding word-sense disambiguation.
