Increasing number of patients doing treatment in a public hospital become as issue for the management. Limited number of equipment to detect abnormal patient and support from medical staff. This research aims to detect on the anomaly detection of hospital patient data through the utilization of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. With the increasing integration of IoT devices in healthcare settings, such as sensors monitoring vital signs like temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate, the need for robust anomaly detection mechanisms becomes imperative. The research explores advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to identify irregular patterns or outliers in patient data, aiming to enhance the early detection of potential health issues or abnormalities. Leveraging the vast amount of data generated by IoT sensors in hospital environments, the research aims to contribute to the development of more efficient and accurate anomaly detection systems, ultimately improving the quality of patient care and facilitating timely intervention by healthcare professionals. The findings of this research have significant implications for the evolving landscape of healthcare technologies, emphasizing the importance of ensuring data integrity and patient safety in the era of IoT-driven healthcare solutions. Patient data shows in graph to see how the anomaly indication for the patient. Multi sensor with parallel system will develop in future research plan.

More than one third of about 38 million adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States. To address the above problem we propose to develop an acoustic fall detection system (FADE) that will automatically signal a fall to the monitoring caregiver. As opposed to many existent fall detection systems that require the monitored person to wear devices such as accelerometers or gyroscopes at all times, our system is completely unobtrusive by not requiring any wearable devices. To reduce the false alarm rate we employ an array of acoustic sensors to obtain sound source height information. The sound is considered a false alarm if it comes from a source located at a height higher than 2 feet. We tested our system in a pilot study that consisted of a set of 23 falls performed by a stunt actor during six sessions of about 15 minutes each (1.3 hours in total). The actor was previously trained by our nursing collaborators to fall like an elderly person. The use of height information reduced the false alarm hourly rate from 32 to 5 at a 100% fall detection rate.

The emergence of demanding space applications has modified the traditional landscape of computing systems in space. When reliability is a first-class concern, in addition to enhanced performance-per-Watt, radiation-hardened FPGAs are favored. In this context, the current paper evaluates the first European radiation-hardened SoC FPGA, i.e., NanoXplore's NG-ULTRA, for accelerating high-performance DSP algorithms from space applications. The proposed development & testing methodologies provide efficient implementations, while they also aim to test the new NG-ULTRA hardware and its associated software tools. The results show that NG-ULTRA achieves competitive resource utilization and performance, constituting it as a very promising device for space missions, especially for Europe.

The aim of this paper is to gain evidence of the scalability of flexibility trading mechanisms by executing large scale simulations for day-ahead trading of flexibility. The objective is to allow the quantification of the impact of flexibility provision at the distribution level and prove the effectiveness of flexibility trading in solving grid issues, delivering in this way scalable operational mechanisms ready to be integrated in EU electricity markets. Initially, the proposed market mechanism is validated by using dummy grid data and considering virtual DSO needs. Next, real-life simulations are executed using operational grid data from the region of Catalonia, Spain. Simulations results indicate that the proposed mechanism exhibits satisfactory scalability and accuracy and is able to efficiently address issues of the distribution network safeguarding the security of supply and quality of service in the distribution grid.

In this paper, we investigate a multi-user offloading problem in the overlapping domain of a multi-server mobile edge computing system. We divide the original problem into two stages: The offloading decision making stage and the request scheduling stage. To prevent the terminal from going out of service area during offloading, we consider the mobility parameter of the terminal according to the human behaviour model when making the offloading decision, and then introduce a server evaluation mechanism based on both the mobility parameter and the server load to select the optimal offloading server. In order to fully utilise the server resources, we design a double deep Q-network (DDQN)-based reward evaluation algorithm that considers the priority of tasks when scheduling offload requests. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to verify that our proposed method outperforms traditional mathematical computation methods as well as the DQN algorithm. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Person tracking is an important technology for several applications of video surveillance, robot vision and human interface. Key features of the person tracking are the shape and color. Especially, color information provides important information to distinguish individuals in scenes including multiple persons. However, color information is influenced by illumination color. In this paper, we propose a novel person tracking method based on color tracking with illumination color compensation. The illumination color is estimated from three statistical features obtained from the whole scene. The scene statistics are an average value, a maximum value and "gray-edge" value that means an average of edge component of the scene. Person is tracked as the concentration of registered colors by using the particle filter. In the proposed method, the positions and velocity of points are defined as a system model of the particle filter. Three likelihoods of each particle are calculated by colors compensated by three scene statistics. Then, the maximum likelihood of three likelihoods is selected as the likelihood of the particle. We conducted experiments for evaluation of the proposed method. The results showed the improvement of the accuracy of tracking in comparing with the previous method that compensated color by only average value of the scene.

Data integrity becomes paramount as the number of Internet of Things (ioT) sensor deployments increases. Sensor data can be altered by benign causes or malicious actions. Mechanisms that detect drifts and irregularities can prevent disruptions and data bias in the state of an IoT application. This paper presents LE3D, an ensemble framework of data drift estimators capable of detecting abnormal sensor behaviours. Working collaboratively with surrounding ioT devices, the type of drift (natural/abnormal) can also be identified and reported to the end-user. The proposed framework is a lightweight and unsupervised implementation able to run on resource-constrained IoT devices. Our framework is also generalisable, adapting to new sensor streams and environments with minimal online reconfiguration. We compare our method against state-of-the-art ensemble data drift detection frameworks, evaluating both the real-world detection accuracy as well as the resource utilisation of the implementation. Experimenting with real-world data and emulated drifts, we show the effectiveness of our method, which achieves up to 97% of detection accuracy while requiring minimal resources to run.

In this paper, we consider a multirate teletraffic loss model for the calculation of congestion probabilities in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) cell that utilizes the Bandwidth Reservation (BR) policy and supports calls generated by a finite number of users. The BR policy is used particularly to equalize congestion probabilities among calls of different service-classes. In the proposed model we consider multiple access interference, the notion of local blocking, user's activity and interference cancellation. We show that the calculation of congestion probabilities is based on approximate but recursive formulas, whose accuracy is verified through simulation and found to be quite satisfactory.

Light field visualization commonly provides a single content over the entire field of view. However, the angularly-selective nature of the technology enables the simultaneous visualization of different contents at different viewing angles. Yet segmenting the valid viewing area comes with content interference as well in forms of separation zones, resulting invalid viewing domains. In this paper, we introduce a study on the separation zone of split-domain light field visualization. We created a static-content-based scenario in which we split the valid viewing area into two distinct domains, with a separation zone in between them. This was achieved by merging two light field contents in the middle with an instantaneous switch. The resulting visualization on a light field display was captured by a DSLR camera from two viewing distances, and it was compared to the crosstalk effect caused by insufficient angular resolution.

Automatic or semi-automatic recognition of selected emotions using Machine Learning (ML) algorithms requires practical, fast and accurate implementation of the steps involved in acquiring the actual signals (e.g. speech, facial expression, posture and body movements), recording them in the form of an optimal feature vector/matrix, correctly interpreting the above data and reproducing and generalising this process within the ML system. Depending on the accuracy and speed required and the degree of its ‘invasiveness’ (e.g. by attaching sensors to the user’s body), single or multi-modal interpretations of biometric signals associated with different groups of emotions are possible. This group of studies, despite their relative non-invasiveness, requires the caution prescribed by the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act and RODO Act and the possibility of being replaced (if necessary) by alternatives. This article aims to analyse the opportunities and risks associated with this group of technologies, with a particular focus on directions for further development.
