In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of Generalized Procrustes Analysis into an Iterative Closest Point(GPA-ICP) for 3D surface reconstruction of underwater coral reef imagesInstead of using original ICP we use GPA-ICP for final alignment to build 3D modelIn land 3D reconstruction, GPA-ICP is preferable for efficiency and robustnessThis is challenging task to implement GPA-ICP for 3D reconstruction of underwater imagesThis paper generates 3D point cloud of underwater coral reef images from dataset acquired by stereo camera systemThe performance of GPA-ICP is measured by computation time of registration process, visual appearance and Mean Square Error between the point and their closest neighbor compared to the original ICPThe result shows that GPA-ICP is more accurate and faster than the original ICP for 3D surface reconstruction of seafloor images.

In this paper, a new approach for chaos driven PSO algorithm is proposed. Two different chaotic maps are alternately used as pseudorandom number generators and switched over during the run of chaos driven PSO algorithm. The motivation for this research came from the previous successful experiments with PSO algorithm driven by different chaotic maps. Promising results of this innovative approach are presented in the results section and briefly analyzed.

With the ever-increasing volume, velocity and variety biological and biomedical data collections continue to pose new challenges and increasing demands on computing and data management. The inherent complexity of this big data has forced us to rethink how we collect, store, combine and analyze it.

The purpose of the present work is the implementation of a four layer structure composed of mixtures with single-walled carbon nanotubes at different weight percentages (1, 3, 15, 20%) for minimizing the Reflection Coefficient of incident waves. The presence of a supporting PEC layer is also considered. A combination of epoxy resin and polyurethane as composite matrix is employed. The structure is excited by a plane wave incident from various elevation angles through X-Band. Comparison with reference results shows satisfactory agreement. A formal optimization technique is adopted to minimize Reflection Coefficient with respect to the optimum thickness of each layer. As shown, minimum values of Reflection Coefficient found in literature for PEC substrates, can also be achieved without the use of PEC substrates and for thinner substrates. Hence, lighter structures for EMC applications can be obtained.

In this paper, Differential Evolution (DE) is used in the task of optimization of batch reactor geometry. The novality of the approach is that the six selected discrete dissipative chaotic maps are used as the chaotic pseudo random number generator to drive the mutation and crossover process in the DE. The optimized results obtained are compared with original reactor geometry and process parameters adjustment. The statistical analysis of the results given by six versions of chaos driven DE is compared with canonical DE strategy.

We present a Web-based multimedia e-learning platform used to train orthopedic doctors and medical engineers interested in human motion analysis. The platform has evolved from a previous e-learning environment used for e-learning related to breast pathology. We summarize the technological developments that allow for more flexibility and better user experience related to our previous work. We also report on the incorporation of best practices that lead to these desirable results. The architecture of the platform is described, along with its main modules, namely the LMS, the tool used for authoring the multimedia content and the training interactive multimedia environment. The e-learning environment, which is ubiquitously accessible via the web and platform independent, allows for the efficient coupling of medical and engineering theory with real clinical case studies and the multimedia content (images, videos, graphs) related to them.

We classify and analyze bit errors in the voltage and current measurement modes of the Kirchhoff-law–Johnson-noise (KLJN) secure key distribution system. In both measurement modes, the error probability decays exponentially with increasing duration of the bit sharing period (BSP) at fixed bandwidth. We also present an error mitigation strategy based on the combination of voltage-based and current-based schemes. The combination method has superior fidelity, with drastically reduced error probability compared to the former schemes, and it also shows an exponential dependence on the duration of the BSP.
Undeniable signatures, introduced by Chaum and van Antwerpen, require a verifier to interact with the signer to verify a signature, and hence allow the signer to control the verifiability of his signatures. Convertibl...

In this paper we present a solution to the problem of positioning a team of Micro Aerial Vehicles for a surveillance task in an environment of arbitrary and unknown morphology. The problem is addressed taking into account physical and environmental constraints like limited sensor capabilities and obstacle avoidance. The goal is to maximize the area monitored by the team, by identifying the best configuration of the team members. The proposed method is a distributed extension of our previous work based on the Cognitive Adaptive Optimization (CAO) algorithm. This distributed and scalable approach allows us to obtain coordinated and safe trajectories to accomplish the task in 3D environments. The different formulation of the problem considered in this paper allows also dealing with communication constraints. We provide extensive experimental results using data collected by a team of aerial robots and compare the efficiency of the distributed and centralized approach.
