This paper aims to analyze the determinant parameters of Genetic Algorithm (GA) analysis for the optimized control performance of a closed control loop. The determinant parameters of GA optimization analysis cover population size (nPop), mutation rate (mu) and iteration (iter.) are analyzed and justified. The control terminology covers the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, a prestigious solution for industrial control applications. Besides, the research proposed stability analysis to determine the upper and lower limit settings for the optimization analysis. The research has begun with model identification, stability analysis and is followed by determining the controller tunings. The performance indexes are applied to compare the response performance of GA with deterministic controller tunings. Analysis results and discussion shows that GA with proper determinant parameters’ settings are performing better than other tuning methods in the closed loop control performance.

The boost converter-based AC/DC power factor correction converter, characterized by its simple structure and control ease, is extensively employed as a pre-stage converter in industrial power supply applications. Commercial products must pass relevant electromagnetic compatibility tests to ensure that the electromagnetic interference energy generated by their switching power converters comply with corresponding standards, such as IEC60950. In a boost converter, the primary noise sources include the pulse current generated when switching the power switch and the high-voltage, high-frequency square wave. The high-voltage, high-frequency square wave exhibits a high dv/dt at the "on" and "off" transients of the power switch, generating several high-frequency harmonics. Here, we propose an innovative winding method for toroidal inductors, demonstrating the potential to increase resonance frequency by over 50% and mitigate electromagnetic interference emissions more effectively than conventional winding processes.

Voice synthesizers still present several challenges in the speech of mathematical content, as spoken mathematics has quite peculiar rules. In the synthesized speech, pauses help blind and visually impaired students identify the limits of mathematical operators and subexpressions. However, most studies on pauses define them uniformly or use simple punctuation marks to force the synthesizer to introduce pauses in certain parts of the expression. Speech is a dynamic process and pauses in expressions also need to be dynamic to make the synthetic speech of expressions more natural, as this can help in memorizing this type of content. This work proposed a dynamic model of pauses for mathematical expressions. Collected math expressions spoken by teachers were used to create the model. These expressions were useful for identifying patterns and creating a linear regression model. Blind and visually impaired students evaluated the model. Some improvements were observed when we compared the synthesized mathematical expressions with the model and Audiomath, the parameter tool used in this study.

This work describes the investigation of planar waveguide crossings using metaheuristic methods associated with the two-dimensional finite element method (2D-FEM). An optimization and measurement process are performed on the power transmission and crosstalk of the waveguide crossings and then the values calculated are compared with other studies in the literature. The best performing adjusted crossing is optimally designed by applying the following metaheuristics: Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), and a hybrid algorithm combining the Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure and Simulated Annealing (GRASP-SA). Transmission efficiency results higher than 97% and crosstalk below the -50 dB over a wide wavelength range, with a footprint of $\mathbf{4.9}\times \mathbf{4.9}\ \boldsymbol{\mu} \mathbf{m}^{\mathbf{2}}$ .

Data centres and high-performance computing systems rely on numerous network switches for data management and often integrate renewable energy sources (such as solar power) with storage batteries to ensure a stable power supply. In this paper, we introduce a novel regenerative snubber for boost converters with the aim of reducing the component count and footprint compared to conventional designs. Traditional boost converters suffer from high switching losses due to hard switching techniques. Although soft-switching methods can reduce these losses, they often involve costly and bulky components. In the proposed design, a minimal additional inductor is employed to achieve both turn-on and turn-off soft switching, enhancing efficiency without increasing size or complexity. The paper includes a detailed description of the circuit’s operation and timing, prototype test results, and a comparative analysis to demonstrate the advantages of this new approach over existing solutions in the literature.

The existence of fine-grained image classification supporting smart retail provides effectiveness in recognizing products with high similarity. However, the generic classification method performs poorly in identifying products from a subordinate category. This paper aims to identify augmentation techniques to leverage the Vision Transformer (ViT) model to classify the fine-grained grocery product, which involves embedding patches and transformer encoders to extract the main features. First, we develop a fine-grained image dataset with ColorJitter, CutOut, and combining both augmentations. Secondly, we perform experiments and analysis of ViT size, embedded patch size and image size in the patch embedding process. Lastly, the ViT model are evaluated according to the image sizes 224, 384, and 512 in accuracy, loss, and confusion matrix. The highest accuracy was obtained at 0.9922. The ColorJitter and CutOut improved the confusion matrix in ViT-B/16 and ViT-L/16 with an image size of 384 and 512. The results show that both augmentations in the ViT model are able to distinguish fine-grained grocery products.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy.
