Fixed-parameter algorithms for cardinality-constrained graph partitioning problems on sparse graphs

For an undirected and edge-weighted graph G=(V,E) and a vertex subset S⊆V, we define a function φG(S)≔(1−α)⋅w(S)+α⋅w(S,V∖S), where α∈[0,1] is a real number, w(S) is the sum of the weights of edges having two endpoints in S, and w(S,V∖S) is the sum of the weights of edges having one endpoint in S and the other in V∖S. Then, given an undirected and edge-weighted graph G=(V,E) and a positive integer k, MAX (MIN)α-FIXED CARDINALITY GRAPH PARTITIONING (MAX (MIN)α-FCGP) is the problem to find a vertex subset S⊆V of size k that maximizes (minimizes) φG(S). In this paper, we first show that MAXα-FCGP with α∈[1/3,1] and MINα-FCGP with α∈[0,1/3] can be solved in time 2o(kd+k)(e+ed)knO(1) where k is the solution size, d is the degeneracy of an input graph, and e is Napier's constant. Then we consider MAX (MIN) CONNECTEDα-FCGP, which additionally requires the connectivity of a solution. We show that if MAX (MIN)α-FCGP is W[1]-hard parameterized by k, so is MAX (MIN) CONNECTEDα-FCGP. Then, we give a 2O(klog2k)nO(1)-time randomized algorithm on apex-minor-free graphs. Moreover, for MAX CONNECTEDα-FCGP with α∈[1/3,1] and MIN CONNECTEDα-FCGP with α∈[0,1/3], we propose a (1+d)k2o(kd)+O(k)nO(1)-time algorithm. Finally, we show that they admit FPT-ASs parameterized by k when edge weights are constant. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Capital market transactions provide an opportunity for investors to acquire ownership of company shares and capital gains, as well as dividends. However, alongside the benefits, there are risks of capital loss and liquidation, leading to stress and depression due to profit targets and decision-making errors. To mitigate the risk of decision-making errors in investment, data analysis is needed, including sentiment analysis, which influences stock prices. This study aims to develop a new deep learning model to classify Indonesian public opinion on JCI stocks, especially the Energy sector, obtained from the Twitter social media platform. The model will perform sentiment analysis and categorize opinions as negative, neutral, or positive. We created a dataset that was trained using Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to summarize the analysis of public sentiment above so that it can assist investors in studying public sentiment as a reference for investing with a yield precision of 76%, Recall of 77%, and F1-score on 76%. © 2023 IEEE.

Current advances in deep learning have brought various breakthroughs in processing medical data. However, dealing with a limited number of medical datasets remains a challenge in deep learning and often leads to overfitting. To solve this research gap, here we show a new approach to improve the performance of a transfer learning-based model for brain tumor detection from 253 brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sample images. The concept of transfer learning has been applied using a pretrained Inception V3combined with data augmentation. Modified layers using dropout and regularization have been additionally utilized to deal with overfitting. The proposed method shows an increase in accuracy of 6.430%, a precision of 5.531 %, a recall of 10.545%, and an F1-score of 8.040% compared to the baseline method. We show that our proposed method has been able to effectively enhance performance and reduce overfitting, even with a small number of datasets. Moreover, our proposed method outperforms state-of-The-Art brain tumor detection. © 2024 IEEE.

Early screening of diabetes retinopathy(DR)plays an important role in preventing irreversible *** research has failed to fully explore effective DR lesion information in fundus ***,traditional attention schemes have not considered the impact of lesion type differences on grading,resulting in unreasonable extraction of important lesion ***,this paper proposes a DR diagnosis scheme that integrates a multi-level patch attention generator(MPAG)and a lesion localization module(LLM).Firstly,MPAGis used to predict patches of different sizes and generate a weighted attention map based on the prediction score and the types of lesions contained in the patches,fully considering the impact of lesion type differences on grading,solving the problem that the attention maps of lesions cannot be further refined and then adapted to the final DR diagnosis ***,the LLM generates a global attention map based on ***,the weighted attention map and global attention map are weighted with the fundus map to fully explore effective DR lesion information and increase the attention of the classification network to lesion *** paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method through extensive experiments on the public DDR dataset,obtaining an accuracy of 0.8064.

Dealing with class imbalance is a significant issue in classification tasks that often leads to lower prediction performance. Many data augmentation methods have been suggested to tackle this problem, but their effectiveness can vary depending on the dataset. Utilizing augmentation methods can improve the learning and generalization abilities of the proposed convolutional neural network (CNN) model. However, it is challenging to find a single data augmentation method that can effectively address class imbalance problems across all scenarios. In this paper, we present a technique known as smart data augmentation (SDA) that is aimed at effectively improving classification performance by enhancing imbalanced data. SDA involves an equation that can be used to create an augmentation technique, combining different sampling methods for addressing multiclass imbalance and offering easy customization options. We perform the data balancing strategy including undersampling, oversampling, and SDA-based sampling. We evaluate our proposed framework using a CNN model to improve the detection of brain tumors in imbalanced data. Our experiments demonstrate that SDA-based sampling improves brain tumor detection performance by 3.546% in accuracy, 3.310% in precision, 3.432% in recall, and 3.371 % in Fl-score compared to the imbalanced data scenario. The findings suggest that utilizing SDA together with CNN can improve the classification performance of brain tumor detection with imbalanced data. © 2024 IEEE.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the dangerous non-communicable disorders or diseases that has become one of the causes of death worldwide. Various studies have been conducted to prevent cardiovascular disease in the world. This study analyzed cardiovascular disease medical record data from the Kaggle public dataset by implementing correlational analysis combined with association rule mining to identify variables that are the predominant cause of cardiovascular disease. Correlational analysis can analyze the interrelationships between variables in a dataset, but not in depth. Association rule mining can identify the interrelationships of variables in the form of frequent item sets, which can be calculated for their support and confidence values. The result of this study is a combination of correlation analysis with association rule mining that can identify predominant variables to cause cardiovascular disease. This paper presents a programming system for a robot manipulator using a hand-held demonstration tool. In this system, a user holds the self-designed tool to demonstrate a desired motion path, and the robot arm replicates the learned trajectory. The path-demonstration tool, including optical tags (OT) and an IMU, is designed to collect trajectory data from hand motion. Sensor data fusion allows the system to track accurately the demonstrated trajectory. A calibration procedure is proposed to transform the trajectory from tool's coordinate system to robot's coordinate system. A cubic spline-based trajectory planning method is proposed to ensure smooth reproduction of the learned trajectory in both time and space. Experimental results show that the robot is able to replicate squared and curved trajectories collected from the path-demonstration tool. The average position error is within 2.435 mm in XYZ directions and the average orientation error is within 0.65 degrees. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, indium zinc oxide (IZO) thin films were deposited at different pressures by RF sputtering. The IZO thin films were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, and AFM instruments. The observed crystal orientations [(100), (101), and (008)] were obtained near 31°. The experimental results also reveal slight height variations on the surfaces of the IZO thin films, with average roughness (Ra) values of 2.431, 3.873, and 5.682 nm for sputtering pressures of 10, 20, and 30 mTorr, respectively. In addition, the IZO/Si sensor head and reference electrode were immersed in buffer solutions with various pH values (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11) to measure pH sensitivity. A series of current-voltage (I-V) characteristic curves were obtained using a semiconductor parameter analysis instrument. The pH sensitivity of the IZO extended-gate field-effect transistor (EGFET) was calculated to be approximately 58.9, 56.4, and 52.3 mV/pH for 10, 20, and 30 mTorr sputtering pressures, respectively. The IZO pH-EGFET showed superior pH sensitivity and linear response and has great potential as a disposable pH sensor. © 2024 M Y U Scientific Publishing Division. All rights reserved.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) is a general term for all electrical phenomena occurring on the skin, both passive and active. EDA measurements are used by researchers to measure levels of stress, emotion, mental strain, and so on. Measuring human stress levels, emotions, and mental strain are generally associated with the skin conductance response. The function GSR sensor is not only used to read people's psychology but also can be used as a pain sensor used to read the degree of pain in the skin. This pilot study uses sample data from ***. The *** data is galvanic skin response sensor data. The output of this sensor is the conductivity value that occurs in the skin. The data obtained from *** will be extracted using the mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, RMS, skewness, and peak-to-peak characteristics. The extracted functions are selected using the forward selection method. The results of the feature selection are three features with an accuracy percentage greater than 50%, namely the mean feature, the RMS feature, and the skewness feature. The machine learning models used are bagged tree, SVM, and K-NN models. Of the three models used, the bagged tree model has the highest accuracy rate, at 98.05%, with an F1 score is 0.9807. The KNN model with k=10 has the lowest level of accuracy compared to other models, at 96.75%. © 2023 IEEE.

A vast number of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) have proliferated into various application domains. As part of its objectives to develop agents which can behave and think like humans, some branches of AI have focused on developing various algorithms that can learn from input data without explicitly being programmed. In the food industry, notably in restaurants, smartphone technology is typically used to collect data from customers efficiently such as orders or feedback toward the services provided. The use of smartphones by some restaurants is motivated by their convenience and efficiency. Furthermore, various promotions, discounts, and membership benefits offered by cellular service providers have attracted the use of smartphones as devices for improving restaurant services to their customers. This study aimed to conduct a sentiment analysis related to multi-brand restaurants in Indonesia based on customer feedback. The data retrieved from the Google Play Store consists of 756 reviews from Boga, Champs, Hangry, Ismaya, Kulo, and Union groups. In this study, TF-IDF was used as a vectorizer to represent customer feedback as numeric vectors. The polarity sentiment of customer feedback was recognized using classifier models based on machine learning such as Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes (NB), Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the classifier. The empirical results showed that SVM has the best accuracy of 93.10 % average accuracy followed by Logistic Regression with 92.41 %, Random Forest with 84.14 % average accuracy, and Naive Bayes with 76.55 % average accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.
