Landsat images are essential in geoinformatics and earth observation. However, clouds frequently contaminate satellite images, making cloud removal increasingly necessary due to the growing demand for satellite imagery applications. In order to improve the quality of Landsat imagery, we suggest a novel Time-Varying Features Neural Network (TVFN-N) that consists of several modules: cloud detection, a learning module, feature fusion, and image reconstruction. Metrics including the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) are used to assess how effective the reconstructed images are as individuals. Our tests show that the suggested strategy is quantitatively successful, obtaining an RMSE of less than 0.0179. TVFN-N shows significant improvement in reconstructing Landsat images using multitemporal methods compared to older deep learning techniques. Additionally, we compared our approach using cutting-edge deep learning models and produced more accurate outcomes for jobs involving cloud removal. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of digital and intelligent information systems, display of radar situation interface has become an important challenge in the field of human-computer interaction. We propose a method for the optimization of radar situation interface from error-cognition through the mapping of information characteristics. A mapping method of matrix description is adopted to analyze the association properties between error-cognition sets and design information sets. Based on the mapping relationship between the domain of error-cognition and the domain of design information, a cross-correlational analysis is carried out between error-cognition and design *** obtain the relationship matrix between the error-cognition of correlation between design information and the degree of importance among design information. Taking the task interface of a warfare navigation display as an example, error factors and the features of design information are extracted. Based on the results, we also propose an optimization design scheme for the radar situation interface.

Machine Learning Analysis of Radio Data to Uncover Community Perceptions on the Ebola Outbreak in Uganda

Radio is vital for people, especially in rural areas, to share their concerns through interactive talk shows. Understanding public perceptions of pandemics is crucial because they influence people’s attitudes and health-seeking behaviors. This study used machine learning to analyze English and Luganda radio broadcast data to understand public perceptions and perspectives on the Ebola outbreak in Uganda. Our findings revealed three main speaker categories: media personalities, community guests and listeners, and government officials. The government made the most significant effort to educate the public about the Ebola outbreak. The analysis showed that the community was hesitant to use Ebola vaccines, believing that they had not been tested on other populations where the Ebola virus had originated. The community was also concerned about the effects of the lockdown measures imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the radio broadcast data revealed differences in the timing and content of the conversations between male and female speakers. These experiences can inform population-specific policies for handling ongoing and future pandemics.

A Memetic Algorithm Based Feature Weighting for Metabolomics Data Classification

A metaheuristic chain based memetic algorithm namely MCMA is proposed for the classification of metabolomics data. MCMA regards both global evolution and local search as equivalent elemental metaheuristics, and searches with a chain of metaheuristics performed alternatively on the target problem. A hidden Markov model based scheduling mechanism is employed in MCMA for the selection of metaheuristics. By using MCMA for optimizing the linkage weight vector, a feature weighting algorithm for metabolomics data is formed to identify relevant metabolite features and reveal their exact relationships with the given physiological states. An extreme learning machine based classifier is utilized in predicting the physiological states according to the weighted metabolite features. Experimental results on real metabolomics data of clinical liver transplantation demonstrate that the proposed feature weighting and classification method obtains better performance than the other compared algorithms.

In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart home technology has made daily life easier, automated, and managed. IoT devices like smart speakers, cameras, thermostats, and security systems are increasingly integrated, raising security and privacy concerns. This study examines smart home devices' energy consumption, use trends, device failures, and system efficiency. This research uses smart home devices to identify consumption trends and risks. To better understand smart home ecosystems, the study will evaluate energy consumption, device usage hours, and malfunctions that can affect functionality and security. Using predictive analytics and machine learning, the researchers predict excessive energy usage and device problems. These methods identify trends and irregularities in smart home device operation to improve performance, efficiency, and security. This study investigates how user decisions, usage hours, and device age affect energy consumption, as well as how to identify optimization opportunities. The data analysis study contains statistical summaries and visualisations of device type, usage hours, energy consumption, user preferences, malfunction incidents, and device age. Machine learning algorithms such as linear regression and anomaly detection predict energy usage and locate anomalies. The data illustrate energy and device efficiency trends and recommend improvements to smart home security and effectiveness. This study addresses smart home device vulnerabilities and inefficiencies to improve smart home system optimization. The results offer smart home technology manufacturers and customers ways to improve energy efficiency, device performance, and system security. © 2024 IEEE.

Perception module of Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are increasingly susceptible to be attacked, which exploit vulnerabilities in neural networks through adversarial inputs, thereby compromising the AI safety. Some researches focus on creating covert adversarial samples, but existing global noise techniques are detectable and difficult to deceive the human visual system. This paper introduces a novel adversarial attack method, AdvSwap, which creatively utilizes wavelet-based highfrequency information swapping to generate covert adversarial samples and fool the camera. AdvSwap employs invertible neural network for selective high-frequency information swapping, preserving both forward propagation and data integrity. The scheme effectively removes the original label data and incorporates the guidance image data, producing concealed and robust adversarial samples. Experimental evaluations and comparisons on the GTSRB and nuScenes datasets demonstrate that AdvSwap can make concealed attacks on common traffic targets. The generates adversarial samples are also difficult to perceive by humans and algorithms. Meanwhile, the method has strong attacking robustness and attacking transferability. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, the need for uninterrupted power supply is greater than ever. One of the most effective ways to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity is the correct selection of the method and interval of maintenance of elements in a high-voltage substation. In this way, not only is a high-quality delivery of electricity ensured, but also the possibility of equipment failure that can be dangerous for people in the substation is reduced. A high-voltage circuit breaker is a device that performs several different functions. It is used for network configuration changes, and also provides protection for equipment and personnel. High voltages and thermal (current) stresses cause aging and wear of switch parts, and through various forms of maintenance and testing, damage parts are determined and potential hazards are safely removed. This paper explains the maintenance procedures of the high-voltage SF6 circuit breaker. Using the example of a high-voltage line-bay circuit breaker, the entire 6Y circuit breaker revision procedure (revision that is carried out in six-year cycles) is presented. In addition to visual inspection, checking, cleaning and replacement of worn parts, the switch on and off times were recorded. The quality of SF6 gas was also tested by measuring the concentration of SF6 gas decomposition products and the concentration of mineral oil aerosols in SF6 gas, by measuring the dew point of the gas and controlling the volume percentage of SF6 gas. The voltage drops at the primary connections of the switches were measured, and the operation of the pressure relays was also checked. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In Industry 4.0, efficient fault diagnosis is crucial for predictive maintenance but is often hindered by significant domain shifts between training and testing domains and lack of training datasets, limiting the effectiveness of machine learning in practice. Transfer learning has been used to address these challenges by utilizing knowledge from similar source domains. However, the scarcity of faulty data from real machines and the difficulty of obtaining labeled datasets from lab machines as source domain pose significant obstacles. This paper presents a novel diagnostic framework that integrates digital twins and transfer learning to overcome these limitations. Digital twins generate training datasets, while a model update strategy based on parameter sensitivity analysis improves adaptability. The framework also incorporates a partial transfer diagnostic model with a double attention mechanism to handle data distribution discrepancies and label inconsistencies between digital twins and real machines. Validated on an industrial rotating machine case study using real data, the proposed approach improves diagnostic accuracy by over 10% compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless communication via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has drawn a great deal of attention due to its flexibility in establishing line-of-sight (LoS) communications. However, in complex urban and dynamic environments, the movement of UAVs can be blocked by trees and high-rise buildings that obstruct directional paths. This problem can be effectively addressed by employing reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). To achieve this goal, accurate channel estimation in RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications is crucial. This paper proposes an accurate channel estimation model using long short-term memory (LSTM) for a multi-user RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications system. Simulation results showed that LSTM can effectively improve the channel estimation performance of RIS-assisted UAV-enabled wireless communications. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.
