In this study, we investigate the effectiveness of machine learning models for the detection and mitigation of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) in cloud environments, which pose a significant risk to cybersecurity. Using a publicly available APT malware dataset, we evaluate the performance of Random Forest and Support Vector Machines (SVMs) models. Our results demonstrate that both models achieve high accuracy scores, with the Random Forest model achieving a low mean squared error. We present the results of ROC analysis and cross validation scores for the Random Forest model, which further demonstrate its potential for APT detection and mitigation. Our study highlights the significant potential of machine learning-based approaches for improving cybersecurity in cloud environments. However, further research is necessary to evaluate the performance of both models on larger datasets and in different scenarios. To enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of APT detection and mitigation, future work will focus on investigating other machine learning algorithms and techniques, such as deep learning and natural language processing. Overall, our findings provide a promising starting point for further research in this area, emphasizing the potential for machine learning-based approaches to enhance cybersecurity in the cloud. By leveraging these advanced techniques, we can mitigate the risks associated with APT attacks and better protect sensitive data and information. © 2023 SPIE.

This paper examines the outcomes of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on Wi-Fi community protection. DDoS attacks are the planned flooding of a gadget with malicious visitors to make it inaccessible or unavailable. With the increasing occurrence of Wi-Fi networks, they're becoming increasingly susceptible to attacks inclusive of DDoS, which can be a severe chance to their security. This paper studies the results of those attacks on Wi-Fi networks and their impact on the machine's overall performance, carrier availability, and safety. The report investigates modern countermeasures and discusses strategies for protecting wireless networks from such assaults. Finally, the paper examines the consequences of the ongoing improvement of comfortable Wi-Fi networks. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of Fuzzy Logic has had a profound impact on the field of computing. A crucial part of any decision-making process is the use of this mathematical method for dealing with uncertainty and imprecision. In this article, it will go over what Fuzzy Logic is, how it may be used in computing, and what recent developments have been achieved in the field. The strengths and weaknesses of using Fuzzy Logic in IT are also discussed. The introduction of Fuzzy Logic into the realm of computer science was a game-changer, since it provided a robust mathematical strategy for addressing uncertainty and imprecision in decision-making. This article introduces readers to Fuzzy Logic by discussing its background, basic ideas, and potential uses in the field of information technology. Artificial intelligence, control systems, decision-making, data analysis, and image processing are just some of the many areas where Fuzzy Logic has been put to use. In addition, this article discusses contemporary developments in Fuzzy Logic, such as those in machine learning, control systems, and robotics. The discovery of CRISPR-mediated gene activation (CRISPRa) has transformed the way in which we perform genetic screening, bioproduction and therapeutics through its ability to scale and multiplex. However, the emergence of loads on the key molecular resources constituting CRISPRa by the orthogonal short RNA that guide such resources to gene targets, couple theoretically independent CRISPRa modules. This coupling negates the ability of CRISPRa systems to concurrently regulate multiple genes independent of one another. In this paper, we propose to reduce this coupling by mitigating the loads on the molecular resources that constitute CRISPRa. In particular, we design a multi-variable controller that makes the concentration of these molecular resources robust to variations in the level of the short RNA loads. This work serves as a foundation to design and implement CRISPRa controllers for practical applications.

Hierarchical networks are frequently encountered in animal groups,gene networks,and artificial engineering systems such as multiple robots,unmanned vehicle systems,smart grids,wind farm networks,and so *** structure of a large directed hierarchical network is often strongly influenced by reverse edges from lower-to higher-level nodes,such as lagging birds’howl in a flock or the opinions of lowerlevel individuals feeding back to higher-level ones in a social *** study reveals that,for most large-scale real hierarchical networks,the majority of the reverse edges do not affect the synchronization process of the entire network;the synchronization process is influenced only by a small part of these reverse edges along specific *** surprisingly,a single effective reverse edge can slow down the synchronization of a huge hierarchical network by over 60%.The effect of such edges depends not on the network size but only on the average in-degree of the involved *** overwhelming majority of active reverse edges turn out to have some kind of“bunching”effect on the information flows of hierarchical networks,which slows down synchronization *** finding refines the current understanding of the role of reverse edges in many natural,social,and engineering hierarchical networks,which might be beneficial for precisely tuning the synchronization rhythms of these *** study also proposes an effective way to attack a hierarchical network by adding a malicious reverse edge to it and provides some guidance for protecting a network by screening out the specific small proportion of vulnerable nodes.

Maintenance plays a significant role in semiconductor manufacturing as plant yield, factory downtime and operation cost are all closely related to maintenance efficiency. Accordingly, maintenance strategies in semiconductor manufacturing industries are increasingly shifting from traditional preventive maintenance (PM) to more efficient predictive maintenance (PdM). PdM uses manufacturing process data to develop predictive models for remaining useful life (RUL) estimation of key equipment components. Traditional approaches to building predictive models for RUL estimation involve manual selection of features from manufacturing process data. This paper proposes to use deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) for the task of estimating RUL of lenses for an ion beam etch tool in semiconductor manufacturing. The proposed approach has the advantage of automatic feature extraction through the use of convolution and pool filters along the temporal dimension of the optical emission spectroscopy (OES) data from the endpoint detection system. Simulation studies demonstrate the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2024 The authors and IOS Press.

Event-based cameras, which operate without traditional frames and instead capturea synchronous changes in intensity, offer a transformative approach to flow diagnostics. This study investigates the application of event-based methods for velocimetry around an SD7003wing and compares their performance to traditional Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Four event-based algorithms—Weighted Tracking (Linear and Non-Linear fits), Kalman Filter, and Motion Compensation—are evaluated using a combination of free stream, near-surface, and wake flow scenarios. Results demonstrate that event-based methods successfully replicate global flow trends observed in PIV, including mean and median velocity estimates, while also capturing subtle flow features such as near-surface pressure gradients and wake asymmetry with higher resolution. Unlike PIV, which is constrained by frame rate and windowed processing, event-based methods track individual tracer particles, resolving flow features even in regions with steep gradients. The weighted tracking methods exhibited the closest agreement with PIV, while Kalman Filter and Motion Compensation methods showed slight biases in Uvelocity, hypothesized to result from input parameter tuning. Pedestrian detection has important applications in driverless and road detection. For the common problems of pedestrian detection such as multi-scale target and occlusion, this paper improves the YOLOv3 network structure by introducing CBAM attention mechanism and SPP structure to improve the expression ability of the output feature layer of the backbone network, and greatly improves the perceptual field to enhance the network's perception of features. By conducting experiments on the INRIA Person dataset, The experimental results show that the improved YOLOv3 network improves the detection accuracy from 89.95% of the original YOLOv3 network to 92.06%, an improvement of 2.3 percentage points, which is a significant improvement in accuracy. Compared with YOLOv3, the improved network in this paper has more outstanding effect on real-time detection. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of smart grid technology for more effective and sustainable energy management has been prompted by the growing use of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. In order to integrate renewable energy sources into the grid, power electronics and control approaches are essential. The purpose of this study is to examine the pros and cons of the various power electronics and control approaches now in use for integrating renewable energy sources into smart grids. The development of smart grid technology for more effective and sustainable energy management has been facilitated by the use of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. When it comes to incorporating renewable energy sources into the grid, power electronics and control approaches play a crucial role. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the literature on the topic of renewable energy integration in smart grids, with a particular focus on power electronics and control strategies. The study is based on a review of relevant literature and an analysis of the benefits and drawbacks of each method. Efficiency, dependability, cost-effectiveness, scalability, and compatibility with various renewable energy sources are some of the characteristics included in the comparison study. The research shows that each method has advantages and disadvantages, and that the choice of method is context-specific. The work has significant significance for the field of electrical and computer engineering and aids in the development of more efficient and sustainable energy management systems for the future smart grid. © 2023 IEEE.

Autonomous helicopter aerial refueling: controller design and performance guarantees

In this paper, we present a control design methodology, stability criteria and performance bounds for autonomous helicopter aerial refueling. Autonomous aerial refueling is particularly difficult due to the aerodynamic interaction between the wake of the tanker, the contact-sensitive nature of the maneuver, and the uncertainty in drogue motion. Since the probe tip is located significantly away from the helicopter’s center-of-gravity, its position (and velocity) is strongly sensitive to the helicopter’s attitude (and angular rates). In addition, the fact that the helicopter is operating at high speeds to match the velocity of the tanker forces it to maintain a particular orientation, making the docking maneuver especially challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel outer-loop position controller that incorporates the probe position and velocity into the feedback loop. The position and velocity of the probe tip depend both on the position (velocity) and on the attitude (angular rates) of the aircraft. We derive analytical guarantees for docking performance in terms of the uncertainty of the drogue motion and the angular acceleration of the helicopter, using the ultimate boundedness property of the closed-loop error dynamics. Simulations are performed on a high-fidelity UH60 helicopter model with a high-fidelity drogue motion under wind effects to validate the proposed approach for realistic refueling scenarios. These high-fidelity simulations reveal that the proposed control methodology yields an improvement of 36% in the 2-norm docking error compared to the existing standard controller. © 2025, CC BY.
